Lake City ammo too dangerous for civilians
Grayfox54 replied to 1fast4by's topic in Ammunition and Reloading
Its backdoor gun control. I just shot off e-mails to my Congress Critters informing them of the situation. I'll bet they have no idea this is happening behind their backs. I suggest you do too. Raise a fuss and make it known! -
Lake City ammo too dangerous for civilians
Grayfox54 replied to 1fast4by's topic in Ammunition and Reloading
According to the article Lake City provides 30% of the 5.56 ammo on the market. The plant is run by Winchester and that would be a huge loss of revenue for them. I'm thinking Winchester could easily pressure Joe by withholding military production until he reverses this order. -
It would be nickle plated. They didn't have stainless back then. I have one. Great little pistol.

SKSs have kinda turned into a collector niche all its own. At least a half dozen or more arsenals produced them for at least as many countries. What its worth now depends greatly on exactly what it is, who made it, when and its condition. Any modifications usually subtract from the value. Generally speaking, an un-molested, military rifle is currently selling for around $500.

This is the kind of weather you wear.

Yep, shaping up like a typical summer around here. Not quite 8:00am and I'm fixing to cut my grass before the heat really kicks in. Current temp is 82 with 76% humidity. I spent most of my working career having to deal with all kinds of weather. Its good to be retired.

There are a couple of things here that I can go along with. Gangs learned a long time ago to recruit members young. They use them to do their dirty work knowing full well that the law will go light on them if caught. When they hit 18, that record gets sealed. So then they have these new "clean" adults who can buy guns. My understanding is that most of this will be used for local programs that offer help within the community. That's where the help is most needed. This will give easy access to people who need help. Let's just hope they use it. HOWEVER I totally oppose Red Flag laws. This amounts to guilty until proven innocent. I'm convinced that they are un-constitutional and SCOTUS will eventually strike them down. But I also worry greatly about what other doors they may open. How long will it be before citizens can be detained or even jailed for what they might do? Scary stuff for sure.

My favorite carry calibers are .45acp and .38 Special. There's usually some form of 1911 and a revolver with me for range trips. But for a "range" caliber, my favorite will always be .22LR. I'm there to enjoy myself.

House passes “protecting our kid act”

True. But if enough people write in asking for the same thing, the rep will be made aware of it. -

I sometimes think that when I send an e-mail to my Congress Critters that look at it an think " Oh Crap, its him again!" -
The AR and it's 223, will blow a leg or head right off!
Grayfox54 replied to Erich's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
I've seen several media reports about the Uvalde shooting that said that several kids were shot in the head and could only be identified by their clothing. Can't say if its true, but its definitely media sensationalism at its best, -

It will probably die in the Senate. However, due to the extreme emotion involved, some Republicans may vote for it just for PR purposes. I sent e-mails to Blackburn and Hagerty both encouraging them to not only vote against it, but to keep those on the fence in line. I suggest you do too. -
Still available. Garbage pick up is Monday. They'll be gone then.

Nobody wants to talk about the real problem. We are facing the collapse of our society and a loss of moral values. In most households both parents have to work. The result is that kids barely know them. Parents know even less about their kids. Kids don't have positive role models. Athletes who beat their wives/ GFs? Singers and actors who's personal lives are a mess? Politicians and authority figures who abuse their power and are crooked as a snake? No. They end up looking up to drug dealers and gang members because they have money and power. Then there's the peer pressure kids are under. Many are constantly being told they're weird, worthless and a POS. Believe me, nobody can be as cruel as another kid. Add an education system that doesn't work. They don't teach kids anything useful. The goal is simply to push these kids through the system with as little trouble as possible and fill their minds with liberal garbage. The kids that actually graduate are functional illiterates with no clue as to how to face the real world. Reality then slaps them in the face mercilessly. The end result is that you wind up broken young people who have no hope for the future and no regard for human life or themselves. Its taken decades to reach this point and I honestly have no idea how to fix it or even if it can be fixed. I fear that a total collapse of our society is inevitable.
