  1. If you ever find your way to the west end of the state, give me a holler.
  2. OK, ya got me curious. What's the PTB cabal?
  3. Make me an offer.
  4. I was never a runner, but I used to walk quite a bit for exercise. For me the answer was shorts with a belt and a good OWB holster. The gun is a Colt Mustang XSP. With its poly frame and stainless slide, its about as sweat proof as a gun can get.
  5. I think by now it should be well known that I love the M1A. I have 4 of them. Unless you want to go with a very expensive custom build, right now I think Springfield Armory is the only current maker. In years past, I know that Norinco and Federal Ordnance made them. But those have been unavailable for a long time are getting very hard to find. But if you look long enough, you might find one. However, it won't be much cheaper than a SA. If you go with SA, I highly suggest the Scout/Squad model with the 18" barrel. I find this to be the perfect compromise between barrel length and good handling. if you're interested in long range (200 yards +) spend the extra bucks on a National Match model.
  6. Oooooo! 3rd degree burn!
  7. I rarely sell guns to begin with. When I do its because it just didn't work out for me. I have a bunch that I just don't want to sell. But they hold no sentimental value to me. The only gun I'm truly sentimental about is my fathers old Remington 11-48 12 gauge. He took many quail with that gun and I grew up shooting it. My oldest will decide what to do with it.
  8. I got this in the Guns America e-mail this morning. Interesting read. https://www.gunsamerica.com/digest/tennessee-montana-lead-state-coalition-against-banks-credit-card-companies-tracking-and-monitoring-firearm-purchases/?utm_source=email&utm_medium=20220923_FridayDigest_401&utm_campaign=/digest/tennessee-montana-lead-state-coalition-against-banks-credit-card-companies-tracking-and-monitoring-firearm-purchases/
  9. I saw a quick story on the local news tonight saying the TN AG is one of many state AGs across the country who have sent letters to the credit card companies protesting this new code. They seem to be concerned that it may violate Consumer Protection laws.
  10. Found one! Bought a 2011 Ford Escape off of Craig's List. My research shows the 2011 was one of the best years for these cars. Excellent condition, interior is perfect. everything works, Got it at a good price. I was able to pay cash, so no payments like I would've ended up with at a dealer. Needs a couple of small things fixed, but its no big deal. What used car doesn't? I even like the color. Unfortunately, the County Clerk's office is closed again this week. So I can't get tittle and tags until next week.
  11. Ford quit making the Crown Vic about 10 years ago. They were the best police cars ever made. I still think it was an incredibly stupid move. PDs all over the country were crying. Trying to find a used PD Crown Vic now that's not completely ragged out would be quite a chore. But Hey! if things work out, I hope to be selling a really nice Grand marquis in the near future.
  12. That's it. I do love my old 2003 F-150 and its been my daily driver for about 16 years now. It ain't going nowhere. But age is starting to show and it needs a little work. And it gets all of 14 MPG. The idea here is to sell the old Grand Marquis, which was my late wife's car. I just keep it around for a spare and I only use it occasionally. It also only gets about 14 MPG, I hope to get something newer, smaller and cheaper on gas for a daily driver. I've been looking at local ads. Craigslist and such. Found a good prospect, but so far haven't been able to reach the guy. We'll see what happens.
  13. So far the Ford Escape, Toyota Rav4 and the Honda CRX are in the lead. However, I have found that certain years of the Escape had issues. Most notably the 2017 model. Wouldn't you know it, all the local dealers seem to have are the 2017 or newer that are out of my budget. Went cruising through all the local dealerships today. Nothing of interest there. Gonna have to spread out into the depths of Memphis and see what I can find. Oh well, no hurry. Its not like I need something right now. I'll just keep my eyes open and sooner or later the right vehicle and deal will come along.
  14. So I'm thinking it may be time to trade for a newer used car that's much cheaper on gas that my old Mercury Grand Marquis land yacht. Leaning heavily toward a small SUV as I want something that sits and more or less feels like the pick-up I'm used to. I'm getting old and can't get comfortable in low slug sedan seats any more. I'm currently leaning towards the Ford Escape. I've been a Ford man for many years. DIL has one and likes it. However, research has shown that certain years of these were troublesome. I'm open to suggestions. Want something that's comfortable, trouble free and gets good gas mileage. NOTE: I DO NOT do Chevy, Nissan or any type of Chrysler (Jeep) vehicles. So just leave those out. generally looking for something from the mid-2010s or later. Whatcha got?
  15. Ok, so there is interest. Who's willing to put this together?
  16. Last update: Just out of curiosity, last week I took the good stuff down to Accent Jewelers. They are all the time advertising about buying gold and jewelry in Memphis. The guy who looked at the stuff for me said that they pay the usual 15%, but they are honest. They offered me $699 for the whole pile. I passed as that wouldn't make a big difference in my life and I'd rather just keep it in the family. I did sell them one old small lady's watch with a gold case for $60. I thought that was pretty good considering how little it was. It didn't work anyway. Saturday I handed it all over to my DIL. She was quite tickled about it and I got a big hug. I'm happy, she's happy, It was well worth it.
  17. HOWDY BRO!
  18. Check military surplus. I've got an old U.S, ALICE back pack that is my "get home" bag. Not overly big, but is quite roomy for its size. Midway USA carries a pretty good assortment of surplus gear.
  19. I was going through my late wife's jewelry and came up with a bunch of old watches. Some run, some don't. Just thought I throw them out here to see if anybody was interested. No idea what they're worth. Open to trades on ammo or most anything. Make me an offer! Pardon the pictures, I'm a terrible photographer. They actually look better in person. 1. SOLD 2. Novelty Tweety Bird Watch Watch itself is in excellent condition. Band shows some wear. New battery, works fine and keeps excellent time. No makers name. Copyright date 1994. 3. Geneva Classic Series: This is one of the better tier Geneva watches. Best guess: 20-30 years old? Excellent condition. new battery, keeps perfect time.
  20. Alright, I've had a thread going down in the Club Forums section for about 3 months now. Not much response. So I'll try it here and maybe people will notice. As I already stated, I'm not near organized enough to put something like this together. I wouldn't know where to start. So, I'm looking for somebody to take the lead on this. I would very much like to see a Memphis/West Tennessee Meet and Greet event. I'd like to shake hands and talk face to face some of the many people I've come to know on this forum. How 'bout it? Anybody up for the challenge?
  21. The U.N. has been trying to push gun control on the U.S. for many years. Many foreign countries would love to see more gun control here. Nothing new there. This code thing identifies the seller, not the item. Coding systems are used as marketing tools. They show how many people are buying stuff from which retailers. So if you go down to bass Pro and buy a fishing rod with your credit card it comes up as the same code. I used my credit card at bass Pro, so what? I don't see this as much of a threat.
