New old guy? Old new guy? Either way, I'm back...

Always good to see another Bartlett member. -
AH HA! Just as I suspected. GEEZERS RULE!
-
I found a gun at Bud's I wanna buy. This would be the first time I've needed a transfer done in several years. Just found out my old guy retired and don't do them any more. The only place open today is Top Gun. I gave them a call and they charge $75 + Tics. Who are other Memphis folks using and what's the usual charge these days? I'm in Bartlett, so I'd prefer something in my general area.

Notoriously inaccurate. You can't hit nothing with these things.

I have a birthday coming up soon and its made me wonder if the geezer factor on this forum is as high as I suspect it is.

school shooting in Nashville at the Covenant School

You can't. This is something that can only be taught one on one by word of mouth. Encourage all your friends to take a better interest in their children's lives. The best thing you can teach your children is that they CAN come to you with their troubles. Then you advise not judge. -

^^ THIS ^^ Kids need to interact with others and learn social skills. For some its difficult. Parents need to encourage this interaction and talk to their kids if they seem to be having problems. That's part of the problem. Too many parents just think of school as a babysitter and have no interest in how their kids are doing. Take a real interest in your kids. Ask them how their day was, encourage a response and actually listen. Parenting is becoming a lost art. We need to start there. -

SRO ain't as easy as you think. Our schools are full of guns, drugs, rivalries and wanna be gang bangers. The SROs I used to know loved the job, but it kept them busy. -

I'm right there with ya, but I am by no means a mental health expert. I wouldn't even know where to begin. And that right there is the gist of the issue. Trying to deal with the current mental illness epidemic would be very complex and expensive. Nobody, especially the politicians, wants to be bothered by it. Then there's that whole woke thing where you might accidentally hurt somebodies feelings. Nope, its just so much easier to blame the gun. That's the easy answer. That's exactly what the antis have been doing for years and they aren't interested in the truth. -
As defined by Lewis Grizzard. Naked: you ain't got no clothes on. Nekkid: Not only have you got no clothes on, but you up to sumthin!

If I went hiking naked and some critter saw me, I'd get arrested for animal cruelty!

TFA is a fine organization working hard to protect our rights here at home. I can't even remember how long I've been a member. At least 25 years as best I can recall. I'm still a member of the NRA. I'm not at all happy with their current state, but I do still pay my annual dues. However, I won't give them one penny more until LaPierre is gone and they straighten up. I keep my membership because they are still the big boys on the block and because the politicos and antis are watching the membership numbers decline. That could affect their influence in Washington.

Most likely a Muskrat. Possibly a beaver. -

Not as long as they stay peaceful. Like it or not, they have constitutional rights too. -

From what I saw on the Memphis news, the crowd was pretty big and loud, but mostly behaving themselves. No way you could call that an insurrection. I think somebody is just wanting to blow this up for their own purposes. I got no problem with peaceful protests. That's the American way. -

I just did my daily check of Imgur. I think we can take a breath and relax a bit. No new gun ban posts. All the leftists over there have been distracted. They're too busy having orgasms over Trump being indicted. -

I saw on another site where the person in the picture admitted that it was fake. Just click bait intended to piss people off. -

Politicians like gun control because its an illusion. It makes them appear to be trying to address a problem, when in fact it restricts the rights of the citizens. Which is the ultimate goal. Its much easier to blame an inanimate object than to try to deal with the much more complex problem of mental illness. Smoke and mirrors folks. That's all it is. -

Red Flag laws are nothing more than guilty until proven innocent. I believe that eventually SCOTUS will rule them unconstitutional. But that could take some time to happen. They can do a lot of damage until then. -

I do get some good laughs out of Imgur. I usually just skip over anything political. But bear in mind that it does give you an insight into the liberal thinking. Know your enemy. What has become clear to me is that despite their liberal thinking, they can be very close minded and down right hateful to anyone who disagrees with them. They don't believe in live and let live. Many of them are of the opinion that if you disagree with them and they can't convert you, they would rather see you dead. Now that's scary. -

I use Imgur.com as my photo host. They also have a huge public area where folks post memes, cartoons, jokes, etc. Lots of funny stuff and I've gotten a lot of good laughs there. Much of which I post here in the Memes thread. I generally check it out every day. However, its also used by radical liberals to bad mouth republicans and push their woke agenda. Trump is their favorite target. After this school shooting they've gone completely bat poop crazy with their gun control crap and especially about banning assault weapons. The sight is plumb full of it right now. They're getting down right nasty about it too. They're stirring up a poop storm, so be aware. I fear we're in for a real fight this time. -

I was just watching the CBS Evening News. When talking about the shooting, they made a point of mentioning the guns referring to them as assault weapons. Then they did a very bias segment on banning assault weapons. Guns now kill more kids than cars. Guns are the #1 cause of children's deaths. Etc and so forth. Biden was shown saying that the 1994 ban significantly lowered gun deaths. Wait a minute. Yeah, the girl had an AR. But video shows her using the Kel-Tech. Since when did the Sub-2000 become an assault weapon? As for Biden's remarks, as I recall when the 94 ban was running out the FBI's own report said it made no difference at all. Hang on to yer butts, Folks. They're fixing to start another hard push. -

Never underestimate the intelligence of a crazy person. They can be quite brilliant. -
I agree. Its good to see Marlin coming back. But that MSRP is gonna hurt 'em.

His name was Ron Popeil. He was an inventor that directly marketed his gadgets on TV through both the Ronco and Popeil lines. The guy got stinking rich doing that. The one I remember most was the Pocket Fisherman.
