Oh Dear Lord! let's hope that's not true. I hate to think of what could happen. I predict that C.J. Davis will be looking for a new job soon. Ok, couple of things I'm not straight on. Were the officers in uniform or plain clothes when this happened? Patrol cars or unmarked?

On the news tonight they showed video of the fight at the second scene where the young man wrestled the gun away from the shooter. I couldn't get a good look, but the gun appeared to be a Mac-10 or something similar. Oops, Garufa beat me to it.

Reports now say that 2 members of the Memphis Fire Dept are under investigation. I can only assume these were the EMTs that treated Nichols. No word on what that's all about?

Hold up there Bubba! Your first 1911 MUST be in .45acp. Further, it should be a basic G.I. style pistol. Otherwise you'll be cheating yourself out of the 1911 experience. Know where it all started and you'll be amazed as to where it can go from there. I think a good starting point is the Rock Island G.I. model. A really good, reliable pistol at a good price. It will be your first, but it won't be your last. You can move up from there with a much better idea of what you want the final result to be. I own a bunch of 1911s. Most are .45acp. A few are in the other original caliber, .38 Super. I only own one in 9mm and all I can say for that is meh! Ain't what I thought it should be. I shot it a couple of times and its sat in the safe ever since. Wish I had never bought it. IMHO 9mm 1911s are for wimps who can't handle a real gun. If you want a 1911-ish gun in 9mm, go with a Hi-Power. Now that's the perfect 9mm SA pistol.

The bad part is that it made the national news. Now there will be out of town instigators pouring into the city to get their piece of the action. MPD, TBI and now the feds are getting involved. This poop show is just getting started. What strikes me as bad is that nobody has given any details of what happened. The only story is that Nichols was pulled over for reckless driving. There was a "confrontation", Nichols broke free and ran. Cops caught him and there was another "confrontation". Exactly what kind of "confrontation" has never been explained. From the very beginning people were saying cover up. Firing these officers comes too late to help MPDs already dubious reputation. And I suspect that the firings were purely political in nature. City leaders saw the poop storm coming and quickly moved to cover their own asses. MPD is under staffed, poorly led and incompetent. Has been for years. Yeah, I grew up in Memphis too. Memphis today is a far cry from the one I grew up in. That's why I moved out 30 years ago.

Baldwin shoots two on movie set, accidental misfire???
Grayfox54 replied to TennesseeCamper's topic in General Chat
All indications are that this whole production was a total mess from the get go. Lots of safety violations. Mostly due to cutting corners and being cheap. I hear that special effects are expensive. The camera shot in question was supposed to show the muzzle pointed directly at the camera. Seemed simple enough. -
With me it depends on what the mods were and who did them. I won't touch a gun Bubba has worked on or built no matter how good he thinks he is or even if he actually is that good. I just don't want to take that chance. OTOH something like a Wilson Combat 1911 or C&S Hi-Power are well worth the price. These will actually gain value as time goes on. I am guilty of tinkering with my own guns. But I know what I'm capable of and what to leave alone. If i chose to sell it, I generally put it back to as close to stock as I can.

Baldwin shoots two on movie set, accidental misfire???

As deerslayer pointed out, what's the first thing you do when handed a gun? You check it yourself! Baldwin didn't. The gun was in his hand. He pulled the trigger. HE is responsible for that bullet. Until now the armorer's part in all this has been unclear. Now they're saying that she loaded the gun. I'm afraid that girl is screwed. The producer that handed Baldwin the gun made a plea deal. Other wise, he'd be up on charges too. He knew he had screwed up and covered his ass. Bottom line: if someone hands you a gun, its YOUR responsibility to make sure its safe. So now charges have been filed. But given the state of our justice system, it could still be years before this actually goes to trial. -
for-sale Smith&Wesson 10-5 S&W 38 Special CTG

This is one of those classics every serious shooter should have. -
That would be the Winchester Model 1887. Originals are a might pricey. However, several companies offer clones. But they still ain't cheap. https://taylorsfirearms.com/long-guns/shotguns/1887-lever-action-shotgun.html

That just ain't right.

I Have a 85FS Cheetah and its a fine pistol. These are excellent guns. They've always been very popular in Europe. Maybe that's the market they're really aiming at.

I'm more confused than ever. I own one firearm with a brace. Its an AR style 9mm pistol with a 6" barrel. It came from the factory with the brace on it. I'm guessing I can just take the brace off? Do I have to destroy it? Turn it in? Or what?

Nashville Armory has new policy of collecting customer ID Info

My standard answer to such questions is "You don't need it." And they don't. -
I know y'all are getting tired of me harping on this. But the new FN is NOT a Hi-Power. It looks something like the original and has the name. But its a totally different gun. Good gun from what I hear, but it ain't a Hi-Power. I really think the SA-35 is the best deal out there right now. It is a direct Hi-Power clone and it comes from the factory with the most desired upgrades at a very reasonable price. However, I do want to check out the Girsan versions. I'm hearing good things about them too.

So true.

Square barrel, new locking system, new trigger mechanism. Looks like somebody has finally gotten innovative. its good to see something new in handgun design. I'll be interested in seeing how it works out and holds up. But honestly, I really don't think its my thing. I do applaud the idea though.

Chuck makes a valid point. One of the major sticking points with EVs is the batteries. Obtaining the raw materials, manufacture, and mainly disposal of used batteries is an ecological nightmare. In the end, EVs may well cause more problems than they cure. Then there's the cost. Its cheaper to scrap an electric vehicle than it is to replace the batteries. The technology just isn't there yet. I'm sure it is coming. Someday in the relatively near future people will point and laugh at the old "fuel burners" still left on the road. But we're still a long ways from there. The current pressure from specialized groups and government is only adding to the problem. We just aren't ready yet. Hopefully there are people working on and perfecting things like new batteries, Hydrogen Fuel Cells or maybe even Doc Brown's Flux Capacitor who will make a real breakthrough. Until then, EVs are just aren't practical.

Way back in 1992 when I got my first Handgun Permit issued by the local Sheriff, we were required to shoot the then current Sheriff's Dept qualification course. Not exactly the same, but very close. We also had to re-qualify every year until the state wide permit came into being. (1996?) You could only carry the gun you qualified with. In my case I used a 2" Colt Detective Special. Last time I shot the course I scored a 93. But that was 30 years ago. I doubt I could do that well today with a 2" revolver.

Well, I've never been much of a financial wizard. My money plan has always been try not to spend what ya ain't got. That's served me pretty well. The metals I prefer to invest in are brass, copper and lead.

I guess I just don't get it. Why hoard gold and silver? You can't eat it, it won't protect your life. If the economy tanks, won't their value bottom out as well? Explain it to me.
