  1. Temps have been in the mid to upper 30s today and the sun is shining. Roads, driveways and sidewalks are completely clear. Still pretty good coverage on yards and roofs. I thinking that by Monday, Tuesday latest, it'll all be gone.
  2. I went out and measured. Got 5.5" here. But this is curious. I found footprints in the snow leading up my driveway to my carport/front porch area. Look like adult sized work boots. Nothing was left on the porch, nothing seems to be disturbed, nothing missing. Vehicles are fine. I wonder what that was all about?
  3. The new year, new me theory is all well and good. Many people are motivated to make New Year's resolutions to try to improve their lives. Some are quite enthusiastic. However, studies have found that by the second Friday in January, 80% of those people have given up on their resolutions. Therefore, the 2nd Friday is designated Quitter's Day. Have you quit yet or are you still trying?
  4. About 4" at my house and comin' down pretty good. Not many tracks in the street. Looks like most people are staying home.
  5. Its the Snowpocalypse! Here in the SW corner (Memphis) they are predicting snow 100%. Start sometime tonight through tomorrow. Supposed to get 5-7". People are going absolutely nuts! Stores are packed and running out of stuff. The first flake hasn't fallen yet and the list of closings for tomorrow is a mile long. At least the various Public Works agencies all around here are already geared up and going. Salt and brine is already on the streets. As for me, I got plenty of groceries, a tank full of gas and a widow to watch it all through.
  6. I've only bought one gun from Bass Pro. No problems to speak of, but it did seem to take an awfully long time. First I had to find the right guy to deal with. It was a used gun and only one guy was allowed to haggle. Naturally, he was busy somewhere back in the storeroom. He looks the gun up in the computer, then spent several minutes on a calculator trying to figure the best price he could make, filled out the paperwork on a separate laptop that was slower than hell. When it was all said and done, I had to wait another 15-20 minutes for him to go in the back and find a cheap plastic trigger lock that their rules require must be on the gun before I can take it out of the store. It was a good gun and a decent price, but don't get in a hurry.
  7. ATF doesn't need to be abolished. They actually do serve a purpose. What they need is to redefine their objectives and stop being used as a political weapon for gun control. There are real bad guys out there illegally trafficking in guns. They need to be arrested. But leave the average gun owner and the LGS alone. Most of all, enforce the laws as written. They don't need to be "interpenetrated" to mean whatever you want them to. If ATF were abolished, that would mean their duties would have to be passed to another federal agency. Most likely the FBI. Are you sure you want that?
  8. Agreed. Mine is a 4 gun bag that I got at Midway some years ago. I took a quick look, but they don't seem to offer mine anymore. Just do an on-line search to find what you like. Remember. Good gear ain't cheap and cheap gear ain't good.
  9. Uh Dude, I realize that you're new and all, but this thread is 8 years old.
  10. Lousy President. But he was a an extremely good man.
  11. Do you have a positive ID on the culprit? Is he in fact a fireman? If so, contact his Chief and the Mayor of his town/county. Most cities/counties have an ethics clause in their employment rules that allows for termination for people who's actions bring dishonor to their department. He may think twice if his job is on the line.
  12. Basically its a forced reset trigger system. The gun will fire as long as you apply pressure on the trigger. However, the trigger bounces under your finger with each shot as the mechanism forces it to reset. So in effect you do pull the trigger for each separate shot, but it behaves like full auto. Just another gimmick to attempt to go around full auto rules. Looks like BATF is already going after it. I expected as much.
  13. They're all over the place. Both new and used. Very common handgun.
  14. My favorite single handgun is my S&W Model 18 .22 revolver. This thing is just too much fun and goes along on every range trip. But arthritis in my hands is making centerfire revolvers hard for me to shoot these days. My favorite TYPE of handgun is the good old 1911. Any make, any model any caliber. It just fits me so well. Ok, for number 2, I'll go with the Hi-Power. Another gun that falls into my hand like it was made for it. My favorite 9mm.
  15. This would make a nice Christmas gift.
