Diecast and toy show - Bartlett - Saturday July 22

Bump -
Once more time. Early this afternoon we had yet another quick, but hard storm passed through. And for the third time in 2 weeks my power went out. 7 hours this time. And yet again, I had to drag out the generator and run a bunch of cords to keep the fridge. freezer and a few other things running. Just this morning I sent my County Commissioner an e-mail asking about the problem and if anything could be done? He replied quickly and let me know that my city was having a public forum with MLG&W at 5:00pm today just to discuss this problem. But I missed it! Ya know why? I didn't get to read the e-mail until after 9:00pm because my power was out! As an added bonus, this time the outage messed up my computer. Seems it got tired of these sudden unexpected shutdowns and wouldn't restart. Thankfully, my oldest son is an IT guy. He came over and got it running again. Sorry for the rant, but this crap is getting on my very last nerve.

This sort of thing is why I chose to spend my career working on trucks and equipment.

Bear in mind that our government spends a billion dollars like its pocket change.

I've always wanted a nice Savage 99. But it seems that opportunity and money never come together at the same time.

Yep, I've also run my generator more in the last few months than in all the years I've had it. I don't think MLG&W is keeping up proper maintenance on the lines or trimming trees. Seems like every time the wind blows, the power goes out. What gets me is that all the power lines in my neighborhood are underground. But it seems its fed from poles in the surrounding area. When my power goes out, the whole neighborhood goes dead. I generally give a power outage 3-4 hours before breaking out the generator. I'm afraid its not that uncommon to lose power for an hour or two around here. But after that, you start risking the food in the fridge and freezer. So its time to fire it up. Its a PITA to drag that thing out and run a bunch of extension cords. But what else can ya do? At least I do have a generator. many folks don't. Latest update: 85,000 still without power. Downed poles and trees plus dead traffic lights are causing serious traffic problems. Be careful out there.

Once again a big storm blew through the Memphis area this afternoon. It hit about 5:30 this afternoon. Power is out to 121,000 this time. TV news showing lots of damage to trees and utility poles. Several people were trapped for hours when power lines fell on their cars. My power went out at 6:00pm, just came back a few minutes ago. I had my generator running and did just fine. But I'm not gonna put it away until tomorrow. last time this happened, my power came back for a few hours and then went out again for another whole day. I'm not taking any chances. How's everybody else around Memphis doing? This crap is gettin' old.

I picked up a SA-35 back in May. Love it! I'm a big Hi-Power guy anyway. I currently have five. Unfortunately range time has been kinda hard to come by the last couple of months. So far, I only have about 300 rounds through it. But Its performed perfectly. I read in the original articles that SA re-shaped the hammer slightly just to avoid the dreaded bite. He's mine along with a few friends.

I'm quite familiar with the M1 Carbine. I own two. I'm not sure what you mean by "as built". About 99% of them are a mix master of parts from many manufactures. Even brand new from the factory. Odds are that any all parts matching M1 Carbine was put together by a previous owner. Even so, shouldn't be too much trouble to find a matching replacement stock.
-
M1 carbine? if so, it would probably be easier to just buy a replacement stock.

PM inbound. That's great!

Secret Service was just following protocol. Mysterious white powder could have been Anthrax or similar. WH was evacuated as a precaution, people noticed, it made the news. MSM seemed to lose interest pretty fast anyway. Only the Republicans wanted an answer. SS had to say something. Personally, I'd like to see everybody in the WH drug tested. Including Joe.
-
For those who may have missed it: the Secret Service has dropped their investigation into the found cocaine. They say there's not enough evidence to develop a suspect. Yeah, right. Has anybody considered giving Hunter a drug test?
-
The government and MSM lie to us on a daily basis. Even if they come out with proof, could you really believe it? There actually is a conspiracy theory that the whole UFO phenomenon was created and has been fed by our own government to distract us from what they're really doing. I believe that if a UFO was to land on the White House lawn that many would say it was a fake. I really want to believe that there is intelligent life on other planets. There sure ain't none here.

He's an insurance agent. He is NOT your friend. He only cares about the insurance company. But keep him in the loop so he can't say you never talked to him/reported it. I also suspect the other driver is blowing smoke and there's a good possibility you will never see or hear from him again. Body work is not cheap. My guess is that little ding is gonna run at least $2000-3000, maybe more. Get at least two written estimates. The more the better. Present these to the uninsured driver if you can find him. Insist on cash and it must be paid within a reasonable amount of time. My guess is that he won't have it and can't get it. . Then contact either the insurance company or a lawyer. No matter how it goes, this is likely to be a major PITA. Be ready for it. In all probability, you should just let the insurance company handle it and be ready to change insurance companies once its settled.

Why is everything I like so far away? -
No I didn't. Plastic just ain't my thing.
-
I've discovered that I was wrong. The introduction was today. The Range Day where they give out the swag is Saturday. According to the SA web site, Range USA, Memphis is supposed to be participating. Nobody mentioned it when I was there today. But if you wanna give it a shot, be there Saturday.
-
I went and looked, I'm back already. Nothing special. Just another striker fired piece of plastic. But They DID NOT have the promised freebies! No free hats, no free ammo and no free targets. Don't waste your time.
-
For those in the Memphis area, Range USA is doing the official reveal thing this morning. First 50 get a free hat, target and 10 rounds of ammo. I'm guessing that's so you can test fire the new gun. I'm up and moving, guess I'll wander over and take a look.
