Yep, me too. I hated the M-16 when I was in the Army and really haven't changed my mind since. But I do have two ARs just because they don't want me to. But i wouldn't worry too much about a ban. I'm sure Washington State's ban will be overturned by the courts. And on the off chance that a nation wide federal ban passes, who's gonna enforce it? Very few cops are going to be willing to walk into that disaster. It'll likely start the 2nd American Revolution.

A SSGT I served with at Ft. Hood told a story of one night when he was in Viet Nam, he got drunk, climbed into a quad 50 and started cutting up the jungle just for fun. The next morning the patrol going out found a bunch of dead VC in that brush. He had stopped an attack and didn't even know it.

Bolsonaro was trying to introduce freedom to a nation that's pretty much been a dictatorship for most of its existence. He was also considered a U.S. puppet. Odds are the election was rigged to get him out. it seems that the people are fine with going back to the old ways. Nothing we can do about it anyway.

Active Shooter at Atlanta Hospital with Multiple Victims

See BS news reports the shooter is a former armed security guard. Also reports he may have hi-jacked a car outside the hospital. They know who he is, but he's in the wind. -
Local weather here keeps talking about how we're running about 10 degrees below normal for this time of year. Highs in the low to mid- 60s when we should be in the 70s by now. I'll take it!

Any idea why there casing have these cuts?

I don't think those are Starline. Those are flowers, not stars. My guess is that those marks are to easily and quickly identify blanks without having to unload. Of course I could be wrong. Its happened before. -
Jack scratched his head and pondered.

That appears to be his regular/business phone book. I don't think its his client list. One name that aircraft manifests have shown went to his island at least twice is glaringly missing. Bill Clinton.

I believe that are way too many very rich and politically powerful people on Epstein's client list for it ever to become public. They will make sure of that. I'm surprised Maxwell is still alive. But she's too smart to ever talk.

Then the dog farted loudly! ( Sorry, just trying to show how the story can change directions in a hurry. )

When the state law was passed it contained a provision for cities to pass a local ban against carry in parks. In Memphis you can NOT carry in any city park even with a permit. In my town, Bartlett, you can carry in parks except if a school function is taking place. It varies from city to city. You need to check local laws.

I'd re-blue it. I've had excellent results using a product called Blue Wonder. But you will need a hair drier or heat gun to warm the parts before applying the new finish. There are videos on the internet to show you just how its done.

This is something I've seen on other forums in the past. I thought I'd give it a try here. The game is simple. One person starts with a single line to the story. The next person adds one sentence and so on and so forth. But only one sentence at a time. Someone else must post before you can post again. But you can add to the story as many times as you want. Take it wherever you want, give it twists and turns. The whole idea is to have fun with it. Let your imagination run free. With the group we have here, this could be quite entertaining. I'll start: It was a dark and stormy night.....

Nah, this is the omnipotent alien character on Star Trek: TNG.

Ok, I did a little research. It seems that Q Anon is a bunch of internet freaks who deal in conspiracy theories. They are so far to the right that normal conservatives consider 'em nuts. Anyway as near as I can figure, they make a lot of noise but don't amount to squat. I doubt anybody with any sense takes them seriously. Here's a link to their web site. Take a look for yourselves. https://theqanons.com/

Are you, talking about Q Anon? I've heard of them, but never really understood what that was all about. I'd like a little info on that myself.

OH! That poor gun! At least it is functional and you do have the .22LR inserts so that's in your favor. I think I'd make a project of that and refinish it. Certainly couldn't hurt.

Sounds to me like you're just asking for trouble. In a word: DON'T.

No reason not to. The M1A is a fine rifle. I love mine. The Grand is just special. A piece of history and a pure joy to shoot. You have to understand that the Garand was designed in the 1930s. .30-06 ammo has come a long ways since then. Modern hunting ammo runs at pressures the Garand was never designed for. As I said, several makers do make modern ammo specifically for the Garand. Ammo is out there.

I'm a huge fan of both the M1 Garand and the M1A. I've got 2 Garands and 4 M1As. The M1A is my choice for a main battle rifle. And I agree with Garufa that the Scout Squad is the best all around choice. The 18" barrel is the perfect compromise between power and handling. Be aware that the plain stock versions aren't target guns. They were designed for combat. Most will shoot 2-3" at 100 yards. Plenty good enough for hunting or combat. For a real tack driver ya gotta spend big bucks. However, the M1 Garand is just pure class. A true piece of history. Your best bet for that is CMP. Yeah, a few hoops to jump through, but you get a completely serviceable rifle at a good price. A pure joy to shoot. The down side with the M1 is that you shouldn't shoot commercial hunting ammo in it. Too much pressure. And the supply of good Mil-surp ammo is drying up. However, there are modern commercial loads just for the Garand.
