  1. I do believe there is intelligent life on other planets. But if they have the knowledge and technology to travel around the galaxy, do you really think they would want to be friends with us? I doubt it.
  2. My Father was an avid bird hunter. He lost a leg in the late 60s and looked into hunting from the saddle. Hunting quail from horseback was big back then. Unfortunately, the cost of a good gun broke horse was outrageous. It never happened. I can't even guess what a good hunting horse would cost these days.
  3. Well, there goes the neighborhood! (That's what the aliens are thinking.)
  4. Look no further than Brownell's. They specialize in gunsmithing tools and have everything you could possibly want. Top quality stuff. They ain't cheap, but quality tools never are. I suggest you start with their MAGNA-TIP screwdriver set. Its pretty much the industry standard. Bits are available in all types, shapes and sizes, including the hex bits you need. I filled all the spaces in my box years ago.
  5. The answer is D : Some old, rich guy gave her the Ferrari
  6. I'm afraid stupidity knows no boundaries.
  7. The whole thing could have been avoided if the city had just let him build his road. Why would they not? “Every normal man must be tempted, at times, to spit on his hands, hoist the black flag, and begin slitting throats.” ― H.L. Mencken
  8. I got a e-mail from Gun Owners of America today. GOA has gotten a federal judge to issue a preliminary injunction protecting all its members from the brace ban. I'm a long time member as I suspect many others here are as well. However, I think I'll wait until this plays out in the courts before I put my brace back on.
  9. I believe that EVs are the wave of the future. Some day that will be what everybody drives. But the technology just ain't there yet. I'd guess it'll be probably another 20-30 years before they're truly practical. Until then its just another greeny dream that they can fuss about.
  10. I guess now along with the background check you'll have to pee in a cup.
  11. 12 gauge loaded with slugs. Put the first shot into the shoulder to cripple and slow him down. I read a book about bear attacks some years ago. Bears don't like people and generally try to avoid them. Most attacks occur when the bear is busy with something else, not paying attention and the human surprises them. Make noise when you move, sing, hum, do anything to alert the bear to your presence.
  12. Well, y'all know me and Smith & Wessons. 17-5 17-6 Full Lug, a pair of 18-3s and a 34-1. One of my 18-3s was modified by the previous owner with a Red Ramp front sight, smooth trigger and a wonderful action job. I added a set of my favorite combat grips. I give this gun full credit for teaching me how to properly shoot a revolver in DA mode.
  13. My favorite .22 revolver is the 4" S&W Model 18. Its a K-frame and very easy to shoot well. The 6" model 18 is also an excellent revolver. Often used for hunting and pure target shooting. Then on the smaller J-frame there's the Models 34 & 63. None of these are cheap, but they're well worth the money.
  14. I have a 1964 Clark Longslide that's the best 1911 I've ever owned. His work is legendary. I'm sorely tempted. But its beyond my budget and too far away.
  15. I can't speak for the Target model, but I had a 2" Pathfinder snub once that wouldn't hit the side of a barn from the inside. Charter Arms QC can be spotty. You might get a gem or you might get a turd. Only way to find out is to shoot it.
  16. I guess next election I'll be exploring alternatives.
  17. I'm confused. Like most politicians, he talks in circles. He seems to be opposing the bill, but then at the end, did he not say he was sponsoring it? Exactly what is he saying? BTW: Rose is my senator. I've voted for him and e-mailed him several times on 2A issues. He has always seemed very pro-gun to me.
  18. I found this on another forum. A very thought provoking article. https://amgreatness.com/2023/05/17/the-hate-industry/
  19. Prayers sent. Hang in there girl. They can do wonders these days.
  20. Outside of Warner, I don't know of anybody in Memphis I would trust. And like I said, the few we have around here are backed up for months. That's one of the reasons I learned to do my own work. There is a gunsmith at Guns & Ammo. I don't know anything about him. Not even his name. To me that would be a crap shoot. Maybe somebody else here can provide info? Give Chuck's guy a call. Maybe he can help you out. Cypress Creek is a good store and its only 1.5 hours from Memphis. Unless the gun is non-functional or you plan a complete target or carry package, I'd think long and hard about shipping it off for work. That's gonna be expensive and time consuming. I doubt it would be worth it just for a trigger job. Maybe you can find a place that has shipping included and will send you a label, but I don't know of one. Did UPS and Fed Ex ever decide if an individual can ship a gun? Otherwise, you may have to pay a FFL to ship it for you. Frankly, if the gun is functioning properly, I'd either do the work myself or just learn to live with it.
  21. I don't know of anybody who specializes in 1911s. I've always heard good things about Kieth Warner in Germantown. But I also hear that he stays backed up for months. In fact, pretty much any gunsmith you find will take a while to get to your gun. The 1911 is a very easy gun to work on. A few basic tools and some youtube videos and you could do it yourself. What brand guns are you wanting worked on?
  22. Some forums have thread drift. This one has tidal waves.
