Gun stores usually only give you half or less of what the gun is actually worth. Frankly, they screw you big time. However, they may sell it on consignment for you. You set the price and pay them a percentage for making the deal. But be aware that some will even screw you on that by asking way to much of a cut. I agree that your best bet is to sell here. Unfortunately for me, you're too far away for me to be a buyer.

I missed this when it first came around. As a much younger man I was a drunk. I say drunk rather than alcoholic because I never got to the point where I "needed" a drink. However I was at the point where one, more often than not, led to one too many. I woke up many mornings with a pounding head and no memory of the night before. It was when my wife got pregnant with our first son that I finally woke up. I've been dry for 45 years now and don't miss it one bit. However, I'm not anti-alcohol. I have nothing against those who drink in moderation and enjoy it. If I take a lady out to dinner and she has a cocktail or glass of wine, I'm fine with that. Likewise with friends who have a beer or two while watching the game. However, I will not abide a sloppy drunk. One of us is leaving. Having said that, I've dealt with a few alcoholics in my time. You can have the best of intentions, but trying to talk to them is useless. In fact, it often makes them mad at you and kills friendships. But that's not to say you shouldn't try. But there comes a point where the best thing you can do is walk away. Relieve yourself of their misery and leave them alone with it. Truth is that only the alcoholic can help themselves. They must make the decision to quit and then make it stick. Sadly, most have to hit rock bottom before the light comes on. Even sadder, some don't survive. That's just the way of this demon.

Hey, the UFO mystery is solved. You're the one who brought up peeing outside. Might as well go with it.

Years ago I was hunting at a friends place. He had an old, small travel trailer that I was staying in. Nice enough, but no facilities. Late at night, I needed to go. Just slipped my boots on and stepped outside. I was taking care of business when I heard something move in the leaves behind me. Two things immediately struck my mind. Its an animal. Its BIG! I spun around with my heart in my throat just to find myself eyeball to eyeball with about 60 pounds of the saddest looking Basset hound on Earth! No idea where he came from or belonged to, but he sure scared the crap outta me.

I'm up for it. Last time we met at Top Gun on Whitten rd. However, the turn out wasn't much and it kinda flopped. Only 5 people showed up. I'm willing to try again, but hopefully with more people.

Don't do anything until you've shot it for a while. Then make only the changes that will make it better for you. Do you really need a better trigger? Better sights? Optics or add ons? Only you can decide. Making changes just for the sake of making changes in a waste of money. Making the wrong changes is a waste of a good gun.

We got about 1.5" here. I had to go out this morning and the streets were solid ice. Just looked out the window. The sun came out and they're clear now.

I have no doubt that the Sig is a fine firearm. However, it is kinda expensive. If you're looking for something like that, might I suggest the Extar EP9? I have one and have been very happy with it and its about 1/4 of the price.

I love S&W revolvers. I've been collecting them for over 40 years now and have bunch. But sadly S&W ain't what it used to be. I don't own and have no plans to own any made in this century.

If only you were closer.

I think a lot of it has to do with your age. Many of us Boomers grew up at a time when all the cops carried revolvers and wheelguns were all over the TV and movies. For us they're normal. But the younger generations grew up with semi-autos. That's their normal. Revolvers are still great guns, but just not the standard any more. You go with what you're used to. Although I have seen many posts on gun boards where some younger person discovers revolvers and is suddenly in love with the old guns. I think wheelguns will be with us for a very long time yet.

Bumping this top the top. All NRA members need to read this.

I got too many 380s. This needs to go!

So get a lightweight Commander sized gun.

Exactly. For far too long WLP and his cronies have used the NRA to their personal benefit. Now that WLP is finally gone, its time to take out the trash. I urge all NRA members to follow the recommendations of NRA 2.0 and vote. We have been silent for too long!

I have one of these. Great pistols! Somebody needs to jump on this.

There is a movement afoot to rebuild the NRA. Starting with ridding the board of WLP's cronies and the old guard that let things get so bad. They call it NRA 2.0. I fully support them and what they're trying to do. The web-site has a list of recommended people to vote for. My ballot is already filled out and mailed. And yes, I followed their suggestions. https://www.shootingnewsweekly.com/nra/nra-2-0-why-its-time-to-elect-a-new-nra/

Try Smith & Wesson Forum. com. I'm sure somebody over there can help you out.

It seems to be the growing trend. I've done it several times here. 4473 comes up on a laptop, you sit down and fill it out with the keyboard, sign electronically and its submitted with a push of a button. But I did have to fill it out myself. Not sure exactly what's going on in the video. Maybe the girl is entering all the DL info and just asking the buyer questions which she adds to the form.

I thought there was a politician involved.

Most all gun clubs are NRA affiliates which are recognized by CMP. I don't know if it works for the pistols, but rifles can be bought by simply joining the Garand Collectors Association on line. A simple call should find out. If you do, let us know.

The U.S. hasn't purchased any new 1911s since the end of WW II. Almost all the guns in inventory have been rebuilt at least once and some several times. They aren't perfect, but they are serviceable. Each gun has been inspected and repaired as needed to meet military specs. These guns were in storage to be issued to U.S. troops if needed. This is the real thing. A U.S. military issue pistol.
