I saw Fatman. Actually wasn't bad. Rich kid gets POed at Santa and hires a top level hitman to take him out. Premise is kinda dumb, but its a pretty good movie.

I saw an article on the internet. According to the author, the deer are symbolic. What was once considered harmless and friendly is now dangerous and scary. Yeah, didn't make sense to me either.

They're moving from New York state to Virginia. Most likely due to NY's ridiculously high taxes. I just don't see a down side there.

I'm afraid the .30SC was DOA. It was introduced right in the middle of covid with minimal fan fare. I think there are only two guns chambered for it? The makers didn't make much fuss, so why should customers? Besides, it didn't offer much over existing .32 caliber rounds except for being much more expensive. and harder to find.

Which is deadlier? A .30-06 fired from 1000 yards away or a .22 to the head at contact distance? I think a lot of it depends on distance. Pistol bullets start out slower and lose velocity rather quickly. The bigger the bullet, the faster it sheds speed. Rifle ammo is designed to maintain velocity over a much longer distance. Fact is than many of the most popular rifle calibers fire a smaller diameter bullet than the most common handgun calibers. The OP is discussing muzzle energy. Depending on caliber, barrel length and distance, that energy can diminish rather quickly.

I'm partial to RCBS products. I still load everything on my old RCBS Rockchucker single stage press that I bought used over 30 years ago. I prefer RCBS dies as well. I've thought about upgrading to a progressive press many times. Just never did it. But I also tend to reload in big batches. 1000 rds or more at a time. I devote several days to that and then I'm good for about a year. Progressives are good for people like competitors who go through hundreds of rounds a month and are constantly renewing their supply. I don't shoot that much and don't want to spend all my free time making ammo. However, right now I caution about starting to reload. The current scarcity and cost of components, especially powder and primers, may not make it worthwhile. I no longer bother to reload 9mm or 5.56. I save my limited supply of powder and primers for the more expensive calibers I shoot.

Looks like about 90% of the story will be total BS. But it also looks like it'll be a good action flick. I'll watch it. If your into the whole America divided scenario, I highly recommend the Kelly Turnbull series of books by Kurt Schlichter.

I picked this poor thing up a couple of months ago. Hy Hunter Frontier Six Shooter in .22LR. According to the internet, these were actually made by J.P. Sauer & Sohn in West Germany and imported during the 1960s under the Hy Hunter name in Hollywood. CA. This poor thing was a mess when I got it. The barrel was loose, the firing pin was about to fall out and there was an occasional hitch in the action. Plus the grips were completely wrong for this gun. I really don't know how they managed to stay on. And on top of all that, the finish was very badly worn. But it seemed to have good bones and I only gave $30 for it. This is what I started with: The mechanical issues were fairly easy to fix. I found a set of close grips on the internet, but had to fit them some. The problem was in the finish. As near as I could tell, most of this gun is made of Zamak or a similar alloy. So finish options were limited. I decided to go with Brownell's Alumahyde II. Its a spray on, paint like, finish made specifically for alloy guns. I took the gun completely apart, sanded the parts and sprayed the individual pieces. The instructions said it dries to the touch in 1-2 hours, BUT needs 1-2 weeks to cure completely. Of course I tried to rush it and messed up a piece. I re-did that one and then gave the finish the full two weeks to cure completely. Got it all back together and I think it came out pretty good. I took it to the range today. I fired a little over 100 rounds of 7 different types of ammo. It ain't no tack driver, but its minute of tin can with ammo it likes. Not too shabby for a decrepit old man and those tiny fixed sights. All told, I have right at $80 in it. I think it was worth it.

A very valid point. "Friends" have an unfortunate way of turning into vultures. They act like they're doing you a favor, but in fact are trying to screw you and get the guns cheap. Often to resell at a big profit. In your inventory you want to list: Make, model, caliber, serial number, any special features and if possible, the year made. All of this info can have a big affect on a guns value.

I don't recommend selling them to a gun shop or FFL dealer. Remember, they have to resell them at a profit. They'll low ball you bad. At best, you might get half of what they're actually worth.

The folks here like guns and lots of us are near by in the West Tennessee area. Post 'em here in the For Sale Forum. I have some experience with selling off estate guns. Several years ago I dealt with my late best friend's collection for his wife. First step is to do a complete detailed inventory. 2nd: establish current fair market value. This can be done by checking closed auctions on GunBroker and similar items for sale on the internet. Finally just sell 'em. I got a few tables at a gun show and sold many of them there in one weekend. Its a very time consuming and tedious process, but it will get you the most value. I'm right here in Bartlett. This thread was more about satisfying my curiosity than anything else. Those questions just came to mind when I thought about the possibility of getting one. I don't currently own a gun that a micro red dot can be mounted on. Not sure if I wanna spend the money or cut up one of my current pistols either. I do have a Buckmark with an old Burris Fast Fire II on it. Honestly, every time I shoot it, I end up searching for the dot.

I really don't know a lot about red dot sights. I've got a couple on target pistols and a couple of EOTechs on rifles. But this current trend of Micro Red Dots on EDC pistols leaves me with a couple of questions. 1. Do you leave it turned on all the time? Doesn't seem to me that there would be time to turn it on if needed. 2. Battery life? How long do they last? How difficult are they to change? 3. Holsters? Are good concealment holsters for these hard to find? Anything else you'd like to add? I'm kinda on the fence with these. Never really saw much need for one. But I am getting older and not the shooter I once was. So I'm open to the concept.

Honestly, I wouldn't know one of her songs if you hit me over the head with it. Just not my thing. But she is talented, pretty and from what I hear a very good business woman. I also hear that she truly appreciates her fans and goes out of her way to show it. I say good for her.

Responding to this thread as well as all of 2agood's threads may well be a waste of time. Seems he was just a drive by. Registered 11-25, made 11 posts and hasn't been back since.

If you are a terrorist, especially one who hates Christians and the biggest Christian holiday of the year is coming up, why would you not target a place where you know exactly when and where a large group of your enemy will be gathered? Jesus may love you, but he can't stop a bullet.

Why does it have to be a choice? I got all day to do both.
