  1. An extended factory warranty is an expensive but worthwhile option. All of the aftermarket warranty companies are a total rip off and a waste of money.
  2. I just put each handgun in a Bore Stores pouch and stack 'em on the shelves. As long as you don't just throw them in there, you can stack 'em as high as space permits and never worry about scratches or damage.
  3. If you watched Talking Dead, you'd know that AMC has big, big plans for the Walking Dead story line. Rick may be gone from Walking Dead, but there will be at least one or more made for TV movies that will continue his story in the new mysterious location that helicopter was headed for. There will also be more TV movies showing how the zombie apocalypse has affected the rest of the world. AMC is planning a complete Walking Dead universe with multiple entries. As for the Walking Dead show itself, there's another time jump starting next week. This time its six years if I understand correctly. They're revamping the whole story line, making over some of the old characters and adding new ones including the new Judith. Lots of interesting stuff to breath new life into the show. It sounds really interesting. I hope they pull it off.
  4. An honest story about guns on the See BS network? I doubt it. Probably just piss me off. I might start to watch, but can't swear I'll last to the end. Besides, I got somewhere to be at that time tonight. I might record it, maybe.
  5. When a little more discretion is called for, I reach for one of my .380s. I happen to like them and feel that they are adequate for self defense. I don't have any experience with either of those, but if you like 'em, keep 'em. I also a big believer in never selling a gun you don't have to.
  6. I just had another thought. Why don't you take the handgun class with him? More quality time together and you can have protection when you're out alone.
  7. In the 33 years we were married, my late wife only bought me one gun. I dearly loved the fact that she tried. But I didn't like it and we both ended up feeling bad about it. How about this. The both of you go gun shopping together. Go to a range that rents guns. Make a date of it, try some out and have a good time. You do some shooting too. Then let him pick what he wants. Aside from just a gift, you spend a bit of quality time together. In the end he'll remember and cherish that day with you. Who knows, you might find something you like as well.
  8. A guy I used to work with is now retired. His "job" now is Church Security. At his church they have an organized team of armed volunteers. At least 6 at services and one or more volunteers in the building during week days. I've always admired Israel. They don't take crap off nobody.
  9. I believe just about any quality self defense ammo will get the job done. What I do is test several of the popular brands and go with what shoots and works best in my gun. Current selections are: .45acp - Winchester 230gr SXT .38 Special - Federal 158gr LSWHP Plus P ( the old FBI load) .380 - Federal 90gr Hydra-Shok
  10. When stationed in Germany there were several times when a bunch of friends and I hit the EM club and drank up all the American beer they had in stock. The cheap German brands they carried pretty much sucked.
  11. I read the book while stationed in Germany in 1974. I saw the movie shortly after I came home in 75. Great movie, now considered a classic. But it did leave out one small detail. In the book, Hooper slept with Mrs. Brody.
  12. I've been shopping 9mm prices recently. This comes out to 17.9 cents per round. That's a real good price. I don't think I could reload 9mm FMJ much cheaper. Plus I save all the time and work. Just earlier today I found the exact same ammo at 15 cents per round but the shipping cost was outrageous! So I passed. With the free shipping, I went for it and bought 1000 rounds. BTW: this sale ends tomorrow. Better jump while you can.
  13. Uninsured motorist insurance is needed because of all the illegals, druggies and drunks in this country. Many don't have a driver's license, no insurance, phony tags and the car isn't even registered in their name. Yet they have cars and drive anyway. One of my sons sold his old junker car to a mexican. A few months later, he got a letter from the Police dept saying that his car was in their impound and he needed to come get it and pay a huge storage fee. We did some checking and found out that the guy who bought the car never transferred the registration. When he had a wreck, he just bailed and hauled ass. The police had gotten my son's name when they ran the VIN number. We explained all this to the police and they said it was quite common. My son could have gotten the car back since it was still registered in his name, but didn't bother because it was wrecked and the fees were more than it was worth. BTW: there's a big black market among illegals for a valid license plate. They steal them off wrecks in junk yards and body shops and sell them to other illegals who need a valid plate for their unregistered vehicles. Never sell a vehicle with a valid plate still on it.
  14. Well Hell! The web site says the 9mm is out of stock now. Guess I shoulda jumped when I had the chance. But, I guess its a good sign when a new small company has a product that's so popular that they can't keep up with demand. I decided I do want one of these. Now I'll just have to play the waiting game.
  15. I got a response from Extar. "Thank you for your interest in our EP45. The release has been delayed due to the large demand for the EP9. A release date has not been established. Best regards, Extar Sales" Oh well. Maybe I'll reconsider the 9mm.
  16. Reagan restored dignity and strength to the White House and this country. One of my favorite Presidents. I'll agree about Carter, a disaster of a President, but a good man overall.
  17. I don't even know where to start. I grew up on this stuff and still love it. I was a teenager when Halloween and Friday the 13th came out. These made a big impact on me. I also grew up watching the classic Universal Monsters from the 1930s on TV. Frankenstein, Dracula and the Wolfman have always been favorites. Not to mention tons of 1950s-60s "B" horror and sci-fi movies. Night of the living Dead is an all time classic as well as all the George Romero Zombie flicks. But, my all time favorite ghost story is the original 1963 film "The Haunting". Only two characters die, no gore, not much for fancy special effects. Its all done with lights, sound and the power of your own imagination. I love this movie and even today it scares the crap outta me.
  18. The three great excesses in life: There's no such thing as... Too much love... Too much money.... Or too much ammo.
  19. I put my name on the waiting list for a .45acp model. There's not much on the web about it, but what little there is is positive, I believe this is exactly what I'm looking for and the price is good. So I'll be the guinea pig if they'll start shipping. Web site says the should be shipping by Q3 2018. Well, that's now. I sent them an e-mail asking when they will be available. I'll let y'all know what they say.
  20. Just so happens that I'm currently in the market for something like that. But I'd want it in .45acp and there's a waiting list for that model. It looks good and the price is very attractive. You've definitely got my attention.
  21. I'd be in favor of a restricted license. Back and forth to work only until all fines are paid. If caught driving anywhere else, jail time.
  22. I blew the picture up. Got too fuzzy to know for sure, but it ain't no bear. I don't think its a coyote either. Looks like its just a big ol' yella dog.
  23. I remember it! I went with my girlfriend at the time. Loved the movie and a few months later married the girl. I've always been a big fan of Star Wars. I've seen all the movies. Liked most of them. But the last few haven't been as good as the first trilogy. Rogue One was pretty good, but Solo just didn't work for me. I grew up on comic books and "B" sci-fi movies. Still love the stuff! I'm also a huge Star Trek fan and do watch The Expanse. I guess I'm just a certified Sci-fi junkie. I also like these "It happened in..." posts. Brings back a lot of good memories.
  24. At morning formation our CO informed us that we had a new CIC. Of course most of us had already heard. Damn! You youngsters are making me feel old.
  25. Ammoseek.com is the place to go anytime you need ammo prices.
