Apparently Agricenter management has already made the decision. The politicians just want to take credit for it. The Agricenter management has a very long history of being anti-gun. Years ago they cooked the books to make the old County shooting range look like it was loosing money just as an excuse to shut it down. Truth is that range made a good profit. Honestly, I don't know how gun shows have stayed there as long as they have. But I have no doubt that RK will find another venue. I remember back in the 70s and 80s gun shows were often held in the large meeting rooms at big hotels. I'm sure somebody will be happy to make that money.

Ancient history. No need to rehash this or any BS lawsuits filled about it. They're just trying to stir up race issues again. We've all known for quite some time that the justice system has nothing to do with justice. Its all about winning. Both sides will coach witnesses, tamper with evidence, pull dirty ticks and flat out lie to win. Its not right, but that's the way it is.

My thought is that I already have more guns than I need or can shoot. I've told my sons that when I'm gone to pick some they want to keep and sell the rest. They need the money more than the guns. However, of late I've been thinking that I'm the one who knows all the details of my collection. It would probably be better for me to go ahead and thin the herd rather than dump that problem on them. But, I'm in no hurry. I'll wait until I'm in worse shape and the market is better. Even then I'll probably get a couple of tables at a gun show and try to sell a bunch of them at once just so I don't have to drag it out.

The standard recoils spring for a .45 acp 1911 is 16 lbs. I like to run the Wolff 18.5 lb springs in mine. The guns just seem to run better with them. I'd say try that next.

The standard model. I could probably get along with a 22/45 just fine. But I have Buckmarks to cover that.

I voted for the Model 41. I have one with both the 7" and 5.5" barrels. Absolutely amazingly accurate pistol. I just can't praise it enough. The Rugers are excellent guns, but I've found that the grip angle is wrong for me. I just never liked the feel of 'em. Yep, you can save a lot of money by buying the Ruger. But then somewhere in the back of your mind you'll always have that nagging thought, "But what IF I had bought that Model 41?"

Sounds to me like the extractor is the problem. Is the bottom edge completely square or does it have a slight bevel? It should be beveled. The 1911 uses a controlled feed system. The rim slides up under the extractor as the cartridge feeds. Improperly adjusted extractors can cause all kinds of problems. Take the slide off and slip an empty case into the breech face. Does it go in smoothly just just a little effort? Shake the slide. Does the extractor hold the case in place? Then try with a loaded round. It should be held in place, but may come loose when shaken. Tuning an extractor is pretty simple and you can do it yourself. Plenty of info and videos on the internet to show you how.

I never have liked Glucks. Or any other plastic toy for that matter. Never could understand the rabid fan boy attraction for these things. Handgun perfection is the 1911. But since everybody is on pins and needles anticipating the big announcement with baited breath, I'll let the cat outta the bag. Glock is gonna build the prefect AR-15.

This is a key phrase here. " intending to employ such training for use in, or in furtherance of, a civil disorder" No mention about training for self defense. Looks to me like its aimed at the various extreme militia groups out there. Virginia got many of those? But then again, if it passes, it'll mean whatever they decide it means. Abuse of this will be easy.

Yep, A heart attack and triple bypass at age 46 made me realize it can happen at any time. . That's why I retired on the very first day I was eligible.

Did anybody watch SWAT tonight? Near the end when our heros are closing in on the BGs, they see them coming. They show one of the bad guys dropping his Glock pistol into one of those conversion units that gives it a rear brace and forward grip. (I can't remember what they're called?) And then the BG goes on to shoot it full auto! Oh Boy, Hollywood has now discovered these things. I wonder how long it'll take for the antis to pick up on this?

Ever read "Unintended Consequences"? The book pointed out that the best way to get rid of a body is to feed it to some pigs. Pigs are not only aggressive, they eat everything. Skin, bones hair, everything. At most they may find a few teeth in the poop. My Grandfather had pigs. He also had a bunch of kids and later grand kids. He made it a point to make sure we all knew to stay away from them.

To me this just points out how overbearing our own government has become. If they want you, they will do anything, say anything or make up any excuse to get you. This guy may have beaten the rap, but look what it cost him. He stayed of of jail, but .gov got what they wanted anyway.

Probably the best thing you can do for the ones you leave behind is to keep good records for your guns. They will need to know: Make Model Serial number When you bought it What you paid Current value Doing this will keep them from getting screwed when they find themselves having to dispose of your collection. Some of you may remember that a couple of years ago I had to dispose of a late friend's collection for his wife. Thankfully he kept good records. The goal was to sell them and do so quickly. By having his records, being able to identify exactly each gun and knowing what he paid for them, I was able to price his guns attractively to sell quickly, but at the same time make sure his wife didn't lose any money on them. Remember, tomorrow is promised to no one. While you may intend to sell them off yourself, be prepared just in case your loved ones suddenly find themselves stuck with the job.

When I joined up at the Sig Forum I started researching the German vs U.S. Sigs. According to the experts over there, there's not one iota difference in the quality. Both are excellent, well made guns. However, the forged slides of U.S. made guns does slightly shift the balance and for the most part the German guns just "feel" better. From a collector viewpoint, the German guns are more desirable. That's cool with me as Sig is my preferred brand in DA/SA semi-autos. This 228 makes my fourth Sig pistol. Three of them are German.

I forget who it was, but one of the major instructors once said "If you can't have your hand on the gun in one second or less, its useless". I'm a believer in that philosophy.

As a matter of fact, I did go over and joined the Sig Forum. And I did post about my new P228. So far its going just fine. Maybe all the grouchy folks have left?

I was at the range last week and ran into an old range friend that I haven't seen in quite some time. He's getting into his late 70s and has had some health issues. He told me that he's sold almost all his guns. He can't shoot as well or as often as he used to and his kids don't have any interest in them. This guy used to have quite a large collection. Now he's down to a couple of .22 target rifles, one .22 handgun and one defensive handgun. Frankly I was shocked. He always was a very active shooter and collector. But it did make me stop and think. I'm getting on up there in years and my health is questionable. I'm thinking that not too far down the road, I'll probably be looking at selling too.
