  1. Chucktshoes is correct. Weirich is a good DA and pushes for harsh penalties. However, she also recognizes that memphis is a liberal cesspool. She knows which side her bread is buttered on.
  2. I got a 2nd e-mail from TFA just a little while ago telling all about this. While it all sounds good, the actual bill isn't available to read yet. TFA warns that there could be a devil in the details. I am pleased with penalizing criminals more harshly. That really does need to be done. Politicians say a lot of things. But that don't necessarily make it so. Its got to go through the legislature first. Then they might amend it to death. Honestly, I'm unsure about Constitutional Carry. While I do fully support our Constitution and love any law that supports our rights. I'm also very aware that there are a great many really stupid people out there that shouldn't be allowed anywhere near a gun.
  3. I checked today's internet story on the shooting. No mention of a suppressor or any weapon at all. You'd think that if a suppressor was used that the antis would be screaming by now. Or maybe a pissed off killer who's already dead and only 5 killed just isn't that newsworthy anymore. This story doesn't seem to be getting the nationwide mass coverage other shootings have gotten. Hell, more people get killed on an average weekend in Chicago.
  4. I got that e-mail from TFA too. But I'm not expecting much.
  5. Pissed off, crazy or probably both. Doesn't really matter. Its the gun that'll get blamed.
  6. Most of the SWCHPs that I've ever seen available for reloading were swaged bullets. They're a good bit softer than cast, but I think would be a better choice as they have a better chance of expanding. I also think I'd just load them at standard velocity as +P speeds may cause excessive leading. Years ago I used some of the Speer bullets that shot quite well, but I never did any expansion testing on them. Now days I generally load a fairly hard cast plain SWC for range use and use the old FBI factory loads for carry.
  7. Sorry, can't help with an accountant. But you do have me curious. what sort of firearm-related accessories are you planning to make?
  8. What about glove boxes that don't have locks? My car does, but my truck doesn't.
  9. $1000 each? Hell, the government can't buy a toilet seat for that cheap.
  10. To clarify even further, I still believe than leaving guns in vehicles is a bad idea. Vehicles are surprisingly easy to break into. A skilled thief can be in and gone in under a minute. However, I also understand that sometimes you just don't have another choice when going about your daily life. Its the concept of a "truck/car gun" or a weapon that permanently resides inside a vehicle that I find questionable.
  11. That is one fugly rifle. Looks plumb awkward. But being a Sig, I'll bet it shoots great. I did a little checking on that 277 Fury round too. 140gr 6mm bullet at 3000fps out of a 16" barrel. Sounds impressive. But its a 3 piece cartridge case. Stainless head and brass (alloy?) body which makes it a bit lighter per Army's request. However, at this time Sig is recommending not to reload it. So shooting this thing could get right expensive.
  12. Just to clarify my earlier post, I fully agree with btq96r that many gun owners need to be more responsible, However, I am in no way advocating that they be held responsible for the acts of a criminal. Many of these kid criminals are the result of failed parenting. I've personally witnessed a 13 year old tell a LEO straight to his face that he would kill another kid. But when Momma showed up, she absolutely denied that her little angel would ever do anything wrong. Just wouldn't hear it and said the Police and several witnesses were all liars. That's what we're dealing with.
  13. I think in every service that they teach in basic training that no matter how bad the battle is, no matter how horrible or terrifying. There will always be that one guy on the other side who still has enough of a sense of humor that he'll shoot you in the butt if he gets a chance.
  14. I got an e-mail from Tennessee Firearms Association on this very subject today. Here's what they say.
  15. Good manners and common courtesy cost you nothing. But it sure makes life more pleasant.
  16. Its a little on the light side of velocity. Made for Cowboy competition. Less recoil for faster times. Should be fine for range ammo and paper punching. You don't reload?
  17. Looks like RK Gun Shows has found themselves a new Venue in Memphis at the Shriner's Temple. Next show is March 7. This just off HWY 70/Summer Ave in East Memphis. Pretty easy to get to and a whole lot closer to my home. RK's web site shows a map. I've seen this building before. I think they'll have plenty of space for vendors, but I'm not sure if there's enough parking. I guess we'll find out. Al Chymia Shriners Building 5770 Shelby Oaks Drive Memphis, TN 38134

  18. Congratulations! Love and appreciate a good woman while you can.
  19. Never pass up a good opportunity to shut up.
  20. I don't think road racing is popular enough around this part of the country to support such a track. Now if they were to build it and then add a big NASCAR oval around it, it just might fly.
  21. So much for "Green" energy. I swear, saving the planet is going to bankrupt and kill us all.
  22. HOLY CRAP! Uh-uh Bubba, no way I'd do something that crazy.
  23. I love revolvers, but never could understand the attraction of a wheel gun in an semi-auto cartridge. There are lots of smaller pistols in 9mm available today and they hold more rounds. Frankly, I consider the .38 Special a better round in a short barreled revolver and no moon clips to fool with. BTW: I bought a case of the Federal 158gr SWHPs just about a month ago. I checked and they are roll crimped.
