I haven't bothered to get tested as I have no symptoms. Should I do it anyway?

The numbers are spiking. I saw on the news today that over 100 new cases in Shelby County and up several hundred state wide since yesterday. It ain't looking very good.

Well, I haven't seen any of that for quite a while. Good stuff too. I still have a couple hundred rounds myself. Most any brass cased surplus 7.62X51 ammo is generally selling in the 50-55 cents per round area these days. IIRC, its berdan primed and not reloadable. That makes a big difference to some folks. Strippers and bandoleers are the same. Some folks want them and others don't. Do you have any mag guides for the stripper clips? How much ya got and are you looking to sell? Darn shame you're so far away or I'd be interested.

I thought it was U.S. Rep Harold Ford Sr that made the White Devil remark? I do remember Sr once saying outright that if you wanted help and were white, don't bother calling his office.

Don't forget the rather large Ford family. All of them crooked as snakes. There has always been at least one Ford on the city council, two have been U.S. Representatives (both convicted of corruption BTW) , State legislators and others have held appointed positions of power in city government for as long as I can remember. If they didn't get their cut, it wasn't gonna happen in Memphis.

The problem with my 20 year old Poulan is lack of use. It gets used maybe once every couple of years. Its a real PITA to get started that first time. But once you get it going, it runs like a top.

I grew up in Memphis and back then it was a great city. But once King Willie and the Ford's got control it went downhill really fast. It got to the point where the good folks had no chance to salvage it. The place was just too far gone. So we just got out while we could. I've never regretted leaving.

Details are still sketchy. However, it appears that the injuries are the result of an exchange of gun fire. Who shot first and why are still unknown. My neighbor is alive, but critical. The other shooter was wounded and arrested at the hospital. Nothing on the local news. But considering that there were a dozen shootings in Memphis over the weekend, I guess my little burg doesn't get much attention.

Let me start by saying I live in a nice quiet small city. It is right next door to Memphis. However, we don't have much crime here and we do have an excellent Police Dept. I don't think there's been a murder in at least the last 5 years or so. Maybe longer. However, at approximately 11:00pm this evening, I heard what sounded like multiple gunshots. At first I thought "Nah, probably just fireworks". My son also heard it and went outside. He rushed back in and yelled "(Blank) has been shot!" Apparently, the guy 5 houses down was shot and laying in the street in front of his house. My son knew the guy and ran down there to offer assistance. Not much details. Police were pretty tight lipped. The bits of info we could get say that his EX is involved, the shooter is known and while they did flee, said to already be in custody. I don't think the poor guy made it. So much for thinking that this stuff would never happen around here.

I believe the 380 is perfectly adequate for self defense. I carry one often. However, most 380s are a straight blowback design. This makes for some nasty recoil. All steel guns such as the Walther PPK are easier, however you get back to the weight issue. There are a few locked breach designs in which the recoil is much lighter, such as the Colt Mustang and Sig P238. However, they're basically miniature 1911s and should be carried cocked and locked. Would she be good with that? You might try some different grips on your S&W 38. Grips can make a huge difference in felt recoil. There are also some light recoil .38 loads available. I believe Federal makes a 110 gr low recoil load. And as Hughd suggested, target wadcutters can also work. Another consideration might be a revolver in .32 caliber. Either .32 S&W Long, .32 Magnum or 327 Federal. While marginal, they can work. My wife had arthritis in her hands and her choice was a S&W Model 30 in .32 Long. She shot it very well and the recoil didn't bother her at all. As a bonus, guns in .32 Mag or 327 Fed will also take the shorter .32 long rounds if they prove to be too much. I personally believe the .32 acp is a highly under rated round. Again, its marginal, but it'll get the job done if you do your part. There are many good .32 acps available. Recently several distributors have been running specials on Police turn in Berettas at very good prices. If all else fails, there's always a .22. Ain't much, but its better than nothing. As also suggested, try as many different guns as possible. But above all, let her make the choice.

The real problem is that MSM gives these political idiots more coverage than the real experts. Thus we have a world of mis-information out there. I've been a reloader for close to 40 years. But its not a hobby. I reload because I like to shoot. However, reloading can get to be time consuming as I generally do it in 500 to 1000 round batches. Over the last few years, I've caught some specials on factory ammo that were good enough that buying that was cheaper than my time reloading. 9mm is one round that fits this criteria. Caught on sale, its worth buying factory ammo. Keep an eye on Ammoseek.com. When it comes up cheap, buy in bulk. Another source I've found is your local Armslist.com site. Sometimes people sell a gun and then have a bunch of leftover ammo to get rid of. Bargains can be found. But you have to be careful, some jerks want more than the stores do. Just a couple of months ago, I bought 1000 rounds of .38 Special factory range ammo in the original boxes for about half its usual price.

You also need to check to see if you PPK/S has had the recall done or if it even needs it. Some S&W made PPKs had an issue with accidental discharge when the safety was used. They had mine back to me in just 8 days. If you haven't solved your out of battery problem by then, Let Walther look at it while they have it.

Yeah, the Walther PP series is another one of those guns I sorta have a thing for. The S&W version in .32 is quite scarce. I bought the only one I ever saw for sale. Sent it to Walther Arms in Ft. Smith Ark. to have the recall done and its been 100%. Great little gun. top row: .380s Middle row: 32acp Bottom row: .22LR BTW: Bond's gun was a Blue PPK in .32. If I ever run across one, I'll buy it!

I own several PP series pistols including a S&W although mine is in .32acp. I've never had a problem with any of them. Best guess from the description given, the extractor may be sticking, dirty or gummed up. Also check its recess in the breech end of the barrel. I have seen this in other guns. It's just enough to keep the slide from going completely into battery. A new recoil spring may fix it, but I'd still check the extractor just to be sure.

This morning a disabled friend of mine had an appointment. I volunteered to drive. We got finished right at noon, so we swung into Sonic for lunch. Started to order our usual Super Sonic bacon double cheeseburgers when the voice on the speaker came back "Sorry, we currently aren't serving double burgers. Single patty only". WHAT! Sure nuff, there was a message on the order screen which read: "We are currently serving a limited menu. Some of the items you want may not be available. We are sorry for the inconvenience." Ok, I can deal with social distancing, wearing masks, so many places closed and all the other stuff Covid has brought us. BUT NO BACON DOUBLE CHEESEBURGERS! Oh man, that's over the line! The end times are truly upon us.

The Trump administration has proposed a rule change to end the ban of firearms on all Army Corps of Engineers property. All I can say is 'bout damned time! The proposal is open for public comment until June 12. You'll find a link in the attached story. So far there are about 2,500 comments with about 99% of them in favor.
