  1. As I understand it, things started off as a fire. The fire set off a large shipment of fireworks and that's what set off the fertilizer.
  2. I saw a story about this on the local news last night. It seems that most of these seeds are herbs of one kind or another. However, they still warn against planting them and you should contact .gov if you get any. So far, nobody seems to know why people are getting these. Its strongly suggested to be very cautious.
  3. Certainly not what I expected. I thought the receiver would come apart. Crazy, rich kid with way too much time on his hands. I envy him.
  4. WADDAMINUT! Do men actually watch the Hallmark channel?
  5. Yep, Bon Lin Middle. The school is open M-F. But the students will be in split shifts. I don't know all the details, but this is what the parents voted for. I just go by what my son told me.
  6. Our schools are supposed to open Aug 17. Honestly, I'm worried about my daughter-in-law. She works at one of the middle schools as a Special Ed administrator. Although she's not often in contact with the children, she does work with teachers every day. They're come up with an interesting system which was voted on and selected by the parents. Half the kids will go to school on Monday and Tuesday, the other half will attend on Wednesday and Thursday. Only staff will be there on Friday. They are taking every precaution, but I still worry. She and my son just got married back in May. I like her and certainly would hate to see her get sick.
  7. CTD is notorious for price gouging. Any time there's any kind of shortage, CTD will take what they have in stock and jack the price way up into the stratosphere. No knowledgeable gun person will do business with these pirates. Yet, they find fools to buy whatever they have. BTW: they're also known to charge outrageous shipping. Often charging separate shipping on individual items in the same order.
  8. Most of the coins are in pants pockets, purses and sitting on the dresser. People are staying home. Those that do go out often pay in cash with paper bills. Most don't use exact change. Businesses are still having to make change, but very few coins are coming back in.
  9. I've watched a bunch of his videos over the years. RIP.
  10. Always keep your phaser set on stun.
  11. I think its government related as all the test sites are listed with contact info on the City of Memphis Covid-19 update web page. But the actual test site I used belongs to a local church sponsored low income/charity clinics. Christ Community Health Center. They have about a dozen clinics doing free testing all around Memphis. This one just happened to be the closest one I could get into. However, there are also quite a few other places in the Memphis testing system too including many other clinics and hospitals. Close to 30 in all. However, there is no common data base to access that I know of. They are very private about the info requiring you properly ID yourself before giving you the results. They ask full name , address and birth date when you get the call. I think test results are covered under HIPAA. If you call the main testing phone number, they tell you to call the specific clinic where you were tested. Good luck with that. I tried to call for my results twice and ended up on terminal hold. "You are caller number 65 in the que, please hold." Yes, you can go to a private doctor to be tested and get your results back much quicker. But you will have to pay for the test. I don't know the cost and not all doctors will do them. Likewise they say if you test positive to call your doctor and NO NOT go to his office until he gives you instructions. They don't want infected people sitting around in waiting rooms. BTW: if you are scheduled for any type of medical procedure, no matter how minor. Many Doctors will insist that you get a Covid test before they will do it.
  12. Probably. They have the testing procedure down pat. You can register by text, they will give you a window of when and where to be, Stay in your car. As the line moves along you can be checked-in, your paperwork pulled and all this can be done without so much as rolling down your window. Once you pull into the tent, the actual test only takes about a minute and then you're on your way. I got tested about 2 weeks ago. I showed up at the designated time and place and there were already 50-60 cars in line ahead of me. However, once testing started, I was done in about 45 minutes. The problem is that so many people are being tested, that the labs are seriously backed up. What was 3 days to get results is now much longer. It took 8 days for me to get mine. BTW: Negative.
  13. Shelby County was actually running on the negative side for the last couple of days with no new cases. Then today BOOM! 229 new cases. 5439 active cases total with 262 deaths. Must be Monday.
  14. One of the reasons for requiring the use of headlights after dark is so that other drivers can see you.
  15. Newbies are buying anything that will go bang. Gun shops are taking advantage of this to unload the .40s that have been collecting dust. Of course these newbies need ammo for their new guns.
  16. I looked at the web site. The very fact that they have a category called "Assault Rifles" is enough to cause me concern. No knowledgeable gun shop would ever use that term.

    MEECES!

Well that's the whole point of a mouse gun. Its the gun you carry for those times when you can't carry a gun. Truthfully, the only one I ever actually carry is the PSP-25. Its also the only one I bought new. This was back in the 1990s. At the time I had a need for a very discrete pistol. Its proven to be accurate and completely reliable and can fit in a shirt pocket if need be.

    MEECES!

Ok, I admit to a strange fascination with the so-called "Mouse Guns". There's just something about these little, small caliber guns that appeals to me and over the years I've acquired several of them. Yeah, I know all the arguments against them. "If the bad guy realizes he's been shot...yadda,yadda,yadda." However, these small guns do have their place. I think everybody should have a gun for those times when they can't carry a gun. The first thing you need to understand is that with these tiny, small caliber pistols is that you have to change tactics. Forget center mass. These guns are meant to be used at bad breath distances. Instead, stick the gun right in the bad guys face and pull the trigger. Several times. If you're lucky, the bullet may enter through an eye socket or sinus cavity and go directly into the brain resulting in immediate incapacitation. However, don't count on it. Instead, while the bad guy is distracted by this sudden pain and blood, you run like Hell! Remember, the primary purpose of a self defense gun is to save your life. What happens to the bad guy is unimportant as long as you survive. .22 vs .25? Personally, I prefer the .25acp. The .22LR may have a slight power advantage, but the .25 is a center fire cartridge. We've all had rimfires that misfired. And frankly, in recent years, misfires with .22s seem to be more and more frequent. The center fire .25 acp is much more reliable. However, in recent years several very small pistols have emerged in .32 acp caliber. Not long ago I acquired a Beretta 3032 Tomcat. Its pretty much the same size as Beretta's .22 and .25 DA/SA offerings in a better caliber. I'm still working with it, but so far, I've grown to like it. Do i recommend a mouse gun as a primary carry? No, of course not. However, there are times when discretion is called for due to dress or social circumstances. That's where these tiny pistols really shine. Then again, they also serve extremely well as a non-intrusive back-up. Here's my mouse collection. Sorry, I'm not much of a photographer. Left to right, top to bottom: 1. Raven 25 Auto: don't laugh. While they are the epitome of the cheap, saturday night special, the darn things work and are totally reliable. 2. PSP-25 (now called the PSA-25): An extremely well made licensed copy of the classic Browning Baby. I think it may be better as mine has a much better trigger. 3. Browning Baby: A true classic which many Police Officers carried as a back-up. 4. Colt Model 1908 Vest Pocket: another classic. 5. Beretta 950B Jetfire: Yet another well known pocket pistol. 6. Beretta 3032 Tomcat: already mentioned 7. Walther TPH: my only .22 as the .25 versions are extremely rare in the country often costing $1000 or more. 8. Taurus PT-25: a DAO copy of the Beretta design. Well, there you have it. My collection of Mouse Guns. Unlike Mr. Jinks, I love meeces to pieces! Show us yours!
  20. Aw heck, don't worry about it. This thread has been around the world at least twice. What were we talking about anyway?
  21. Yep, Steel Challenge has a rimfire division which is quite popular. Basically, its a speed game with steel plates. I've thought about looking into it. But at my age and condition, I'm afraid the speed won't be much.
