  1. I was a teenager in the 1960s and a young soldier in a drug infested Army from 72-75. Believe it or not, I went through all that and never once have used any form of recreational pharmaceuticals, including marijuana. Nope, I was a drunk instead. I've got nothing against anybody who has an occasional toke now and then. And I fully understand the benefits of medical marijuana. But I never have understood the whole CBD thing. Ok, so its marijuana but you took the good stuff out? What's the point in that? Nothing but snake oil to me. I won't waste money on it. And yeah, the stuff is everywhere.
  2. Very nice! That would be an "I" frame which is slightly smaller than the "J" most of us are familiar with. The finish looks totally righteous to me. I doubt its been refinished. SCSW only lists serial numbers as 160000-536684 for years 1911 to 1941. It does mention that serial numbers 384XXX were reached by 1923. You'd need a letter to get any closer than that. I have long lusted after a Model 35 which is the modern day equivalent to your revolver. But alas, so far no luck.
  3. I went to a GAGS show in Ripley a couple years ago. It wasn't much. I've never bothered going to another one.
  4. Too much, too soon. It'll never fly.
  5. Beggars can't be choosers. 9mm bullets were one component I was a bit short on. So I ordered a box. Thanks for the heads up. BTW: these are the only bullets Precision Delta has in stock. I doubt they'll last long. Better jump now.
  6. Sad indeed. Seems like all the actors that were so common in our lives and brought us great joy are slipping away.
  7. I've never played the stock market and quite frankly don't understand anything about it. I have no idea what a "short" is or how in hell forcing a company to fail makes you money? About all I do know is that there's a bunch of dirty, unscrupulous azzholes who would sell their own mothers into prostitution to make a buck. Ok, so a bunch of little guys got together, used the same tricks the big guys use and made a bunch of money? Now the big guys are crying foul? Can somebody explain this in language that I can understand? Use little words please. And why is all this so bad? I don't get it?
  8. I don't like Jennings. His voice just doesn't work here. Too quiet for a game show host. And his pace just doesn't fit the rhythm of the show.
  9. These posts always make me chuckle. You may be saving on costs per round, but most of us end up shooting more. So we really don't save any money at all. Of course these days with the Covid, shortages and high costs, most of us are saving quite a bit because we aren't shooting at all.
  10. And about the U-Haul thing... Consider this. Those moving here by U-Haul are the folks too poor to hire a moving company. I fear we may be acquiring other states problem children.
  11. I've posted before about my younger son and his new bride's frustrations at trying to buy a house. They looked for months and kept getting out bid. They finally are having one built. Current projections have a move in date of early March. But even then, they're cutting costs by doing some stuff themselves, like painting. So actual move in will take a bit longer. However, so far its going well. The problem here is that nobody wants to live inside the Memphis city limits. Memphis is a cesspool and people can't get out fast enough. However, that's where the jobs are. So the suburbs are very popular here. You can actually find houses to buy inside Memphis, but nobody wants those. My son's new house will actually be about 20 miles outside the city. And that's about as close as anybody is going to get these days.
  12. Hard to say without pictures. Just about any mechanically sound Model 15 should sell in the $400-450 range even with a rough finish. A very good one could easily bring $600 these days. I had to look up the Spesco as I've never heard of them. Apparently, these were made by Taurus in the 1970s. Pics I saw looked like a decent gun. But also remember that it was the early Taurus revolvers that gave the name a bad rap which took many years to overcome. If it checks out mechanically, I'd take a chance on it.
  13. I believe the point is that this was a huge formal occasion for the democrats. Most were dressed in their very best. Then old Bern shows up casually dressed for cold weather like the inauguration was just another stop between the Post Office and the grocery store on the day's to do list. Lots of Dems are pissed off at him for not taking it more serious. Meanwhile the rest of the country is laughing their butts off. Hell, Bernies gettin' more mileage out of the inauguration than Biden did.
  14. I'm guessing he stops there every day.
  15. Its a very old picture. That thing has been floating around the internet for 15-20 years now.
  16. There is a RK gun show at the Jackson Fair grounds Saturday and Sunday. Usually pretty decent. I normally always go to this one. But due to Covid, I'm gonna pass this time. If anybody goes, please give us a report.
  17. Sorry to disappoint you, but I gave up on finding a decent gun shop in memphis years ago. I rarely bother going to any of them any more. Guns & Ammo on Summer Ave is probably the biggest. They also have the biggest prices, biggest crowds and very rarely have any used guns at all. Classic Arms on Germantown PKWY generally has a fair selection of used guns, but they know what they're worth too. I haven't seen any kind of Mil-Surps in a Memphis gun shop in years. If there actually is a good gun shop in memphis, I'd sure like to hear about it.
  18. True enough, but Levis is not just anti-gun. They fully support the whole range of ultra-liberal causes. Everything from abortion to illegal immigration and are extremely proud of the fact that they helped San Francisco become a sanctuary city. They are the enemy and are happy to spend lots of their money for their leftist causes. I will not support that.
  19. Ok so there's some problems with deliveries. We've been through all that. But what the hell is with the counter clerks? Now my local post office is the main one in my little city. The counter sales are set up as such. 4 registers along a long counter all of which are fed by a single line of customers. Next customer just goes to whatever clerk is open. Normally there are 3 clerks working, sometimes two. #4 is almost always used strictly for passports. I've had to go to the PO twice in the last week. Once just for stamps and the second time to mail a package. Both times I was the 4th person in line when I got there. Both times 30+ minutes to take care of my business! I mean really these people were sloooowwww! I've noticed that quite often a clerk will assist one customer, then disappear into the back for 5-10 minutes. Come back, do one more customer and disappear again! You can see it in their faces, they just don't give a damn at all. And its been like this for as long as I can remember.
  20. Long time Wrangler man myself. Usually pick em up at Wal-Mart or Target. They come in a wide range of waists and lengths along with several different style cuts to fit pretty near anybody. Good, long lasting jeans at reasonable prices. Uh, aren't you Levis guys aware that not only is that company rabidly anti-gun, but they are also huge financial supporters of just about every major left wing cause there is? I mean this has only been common knowledge for the last 30 years or so.
  21. Most reloading companies sell "Starter Kits" which have the basic equipment to get started. But almost all of them need few more things added. You don't really need expensive or fancy. Just good quality basic gear. I've been reloading about 40 years now and I've done it all on an old RCBS Rockchuker press that I bought used way back then. The biggest thing you need is time. Reloading can save you money and produce excellent ammo, but it is time consuming. Progressive presses can be considerably faster, but they're expensive to buy and take time to set up properly every time you change calibers. I still load everything on my old single stage Rockchuker. What I do is make ammo in large batches. Usually 500 - 1000 rounds. Generally takes several full days of work, but when I'm done I don't have to do it again for quite a while. Also consider the value of your time vs cost of ammo. For many years I didn't bother loading 9mm because you could get surplus range ammo cheaper than what my time was worth to make it. I guess those days are gone now. But likewise, there are odd calibers that I don't shoot very often. So I don't bother to reload them either. OTOH there are some cartridges that you pretty much have to reload to get the best out of them. Two of my favorite handgun cartridges immediately come to mind. The .44 Special and the .45 Colt. Factory ammo for both is seriously lacking in performance and way too damned expensive! If you don't reload, don't bother with either one. The same can be said for many other cartridges as well. Reloading is a boon for any serious shooter and can be quite a rewarding hobby in itself. But its not for everybody. I'd guess that if you look around a bit, you'll find some used equipment being sold fairly cheap by someone it didn't work out for.
  22. I posted this on another forum and have been informed that EB mags are actually made by Check-Mate. However, I can't verify this. But then the ones I'm trading in have no markings at all, not even caliber. They're the 2 for $5 specials you find at gun shows. So these must be an improvement. Always been a Wilson man myself. But, for the price, I'll try the EBs.
