  1. Its because the U.S. has just passed 500,000 Covid deaths. Biden's orders.
  2. Not that I can find. It also appears that they only schedule one week at a time. If I'm wrong, somebody please set me straight.
  3. They do make appointments, but remember we're dealing with Memphis here. There have been stories in the local news of very long waits and sometimes running out of vaccine with many people still in line. I just tried to sign up. But the actual registration page won't load. Overloaded I guess. They just started round 1B today. I'll keep trying. Just tried again. Calendar now shows all available slots are full.
  4. Congratulations! I'm a big fan of Sigs myself. Looking forward to pics and a range report.
  5. I just checked Shelby County stats for the first time in a week or two. Active cases are down to 1531. That's the lowest I've seen in many months. However, deaths are up to 1460. I saw on the news a couple of days ago that sometime today they're supposed to lower vaccination age to people 65 and up. That makes me eligible. Now I'm wondering if I should sign up right away or give it a little time for the rush to pass. I don't want to be sitting in a line for 5-6 hours. Thoughts?
  6. Weird weather. Just a couple days ago we had snow, ice and were freezing our butts off. Right now its 60 degrees and I just made a quick trip to the store in my shirt sleeves. Now the forecast is calling for mild temperatures but rain staring Friday and 40-50% chance of rain everyday for the next week. So I guess we won't freeze, but we just might drown.
  7. Simple inflation. Rising cost for materials, labor, etc and so on. As far as I know, only Ruger has successfully created a polymer framed revolver and its butt ugly. Revolvers have gone up in price just like everything else. Then there is also the traditionalist view. Some folks just love the classic lines of a good revolver. Its just simple point and pull the trigger. No magazines, no safeties and no slide to rack. There's a quality and craftsmanship that goes into a wheelgun that no plastic fantastic could ever come near. Then there's the collectability of these fine old guns. Many die hard revolver fans just don't care for the changes made in the newer guns. MIM parts, two piece barrels and of course that damned lock. Older revolvers can often bring more money than the brand new ones of the same make and model. I collect Smith & Wesson revolvers and have a bunch of 'em. However, the 2nd newest revolver I own was made in 1996. It was one of the very last to still have the firing pin on the hammer nose. Very little S&W has made since then interests me at all. I do have one exception. My 2017 S&W 642. I wanted a lightweight J-frame .38 for carry. I found this at a really good price and its one of the few more current S&Ws without the damned lock. I also love the old Colts and have several of those. While the new Colts may be good guns. They've always been a bit too proud of that name when it comes to pricing. Bottom line: Why are revolvers so expensive? Because they're worth it.
  8. Baton?
  9. That pistol looking thing with a stock is a gas grenade gun. That long thing just to its left appear to be a cartridge for it. The hand grenades appear to be either gas or smoke. I see the shotgun and the Thompson, but I can't quite make out the rifle in the middle. Can anybody identify that? You might also note the armor on the radiator.
  10. I'm in Bartlett which is right next door to Memphis. It was in the 40s yesterday and got up to 50s today. Currently a light rain. Side streets still have some ice here and there, but most of the main streets are clear. Aside from piles made by clearing snow, Most of it is gone. The Memphis airport has been shut down for a couple of days due to water problems. A bunch of water mains froze and busted. This has led to low water pressure and possible contamination. Memphians are under a boil water order until further notice. No idea how long this will last. A couple more days at least. I'm good as Bartlett has their own water system.
  11. These days I'll bet even this company is sold out.
  12. The bottom line is that one of Biden's goals is to end on-line ammo sales. Simply put, he wants to put Fenix out of business. Its not just a statement. Its about self preservation. The owner says this on the web site.
  13. Greg: I like the way you think. I'll just say "Ditto!"
  14. I found the ad. Click Here Definately foreign made. Can't really see the headstamp very well, but I think its DAG. which would be Dynamit Nobel Germany. Definitely has the three point crimp. Oddly enough, it appears to be a hybrid case with a steel head and a polymer body. He's only asking $100, but I still wouldn't buy this stuff.
  15. About the only .308 blanks I've ever seen were military. You can bet they'll be crimped. Also a good chance that they are foreign made and berdan primed. Does the seller have pictures or mention the headstamp? Like others here, I have removed primers before and reused them. As long as you're careful it can be done. But you need to examine them carefully. If the anvil is damaged, its junk. Just out of curiosity, how much is he asking? Can you post a link to the ad? Regardless, I sure wouldn't waste money on them.
  16. Statue? Nah. Medal of Freedom? Unnecessary. I nominate Dolly for Sainthood.
  17. I got this from TFA this evening. Mr. Harris has a very interesting take on this issue. February 19, 2021 Follow TFA on MeWe – we are discontinuing updates to Facebook and Twitter Share this update from the TFA Website News Posts You likely keep hearing the phrase that Tennessee should become a "sanctuary state" particularly now that Biden-Harris are President and the Democrats control Congress. There is a strong argument that Tennessee should not aspire to be a "sanctuary state" but that it should have higher aspirations and purposes. First, the 2nd Amendment and 10th Amendment are express prohibitions on federal (and now state) infringement of the right of citizens to keep, bear, possess, use, own, carry, practice with, etc., any kind of "arms" that a soldier would want or need or that would be useful in a military or militia engagement. Second, and in contrast, Article 1, Section 8 of the Constitution expressly authorizes Congress to regulation immigration and naturalization. The original terminology "sanctuary" state or more often city arose, if I recall, from progressive, Democrat, socialists areas where people decided that they would hide, shelter, aid and abet criminals who were illegal aliens. As such, these individuals and governments that aided them were trying to block enforcement of laws, regulations and/or order in an area where the Constitution expressly gives Congress authority. Indeed, those"sanctuary"advocates should have been criminally prosecution for obstruction or facilitation but the federal government did not do so - a separate soap box talk. In contrast to the immigration issue, the Constitution expressly prohibits federal infringement relative to "arms". Therefore, a state or local government refusing to enforce or aid in the enforcement of such federal laws, regulations or orders is not a criminal "sanctuary" act. NO! It is to the contrary the express duty of such states and local government to raise the shields of the 2nd and 10th Amendments to block unconstitutional and ultra vires federal laws, regulations and orders over issues where the Constitution itself prohibits federal authority or action Consequently, it is constitutionally inaccurate to characterize 2nd and 10th Amendment based bills as "sanctuary" bills. They are not. They are not acts to frustrate the legitimate constitutional exercise of federal power. They are acts by Sovereign States to shield their citizens from unconstitutional federal activity. We must stop using the term "sanctuary" in any context to reference the citizens' fundamental right to arms and the constitutional prohibition against government infringement of that right. 18. I went out and measured today. We got a little over 4". But I'm not completely sure if the tape made it all the way down.
  19. The original Colt Trooper was the gun the Python was based on. Same action and quality with just a regular barrel. Those are now high dollar collectibles as well. The later Trooper MK III an MK V were completely different guns. I have a MK III. While it is an excellent revolver, it ain't a Python.
  20. Considering the current craziness, that ain't bad at all. And he's located close to me. Too bad I don't have anything in 7.62X39. I have seen on other boards where people are getting tricky about selling ammo on otherwise non-gun friendly sites. Such as an ad for screwdrivers for sale. But the pictures show the screwdrivers sitting on top of boxes of ammo.
  21. Try to find Garand specific data. The Military M2 Ball round it was designed around operates at lower pressures than commercial .30-06 hunting ammo. Too much pressure can bend the operating rod. The data you have is correct for the Garand. He's a link to an excellent article about this subject. Not Your Father's .30-06
