Looks like the MSM is already putting a racist slant to this. I certainly hope that's not true. What kind of complete idiot could blame Asian-Americans for Covid-19?

I have a friend in the middle part of the state that caught the Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever about a year and a half ago. I haven't seen him in a while, but mutual friends tell me that he still hasn't fully recovered.

Yep, standard S&W K-frame square butt. Unlimited choices for replacements. I am curious. What grips were on it? I'm surprised they broke like that. Plastic?

I had my doubts at first. But at my age and condition I have a bunch of different doctors. Seems like I see at least one of them every month just for a routine check up. Every one of them was unanimous in recommending I take the shot. So I signed up as soon as I was eligible. I've had the first and will get the 2nd in the 3rd week of this month.

Of the two, I'd go with the SA .357. Much more versatile with ammo selection and just better suited to the task asked for. As for myself, I much prefer a DA revolver in either .44 Special or .45 Colt. I also agree that an encounter with a bear is extremely unlikely. More likely critter encounters would be feral hogs or wild dogs. Even that is pretty slim. The real threat is from bad people.

Nashville Shootout Body Cam Footage
Grayfox54 replied to Omega's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
I'll simply say it looks like a good shoot to me. Too bad backup didn't arrive sooner. But then they may have had their hands full at the time too. Lots of valid points on other aspects of it, but I won't judge. The good guy won. That's all that really matters. -
Well that's why I wasn't interested in buying it. I shoot everything I own.

H.R.8 - Bipartisan Background Checks Act of 2021
Grayfox54 replied to GlockSpock's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
That is true. Congress has no understanding of their own legal limits. However, if it were pushed into the courts, I see no way it could stand under current law. -
I removed the mag safeties in the FEG and FM. It did make a small difference in the trigger pull. However, for me the big thing is that now magazines drop free when ejected. I decided to leave the MK III all original. Yep, I've seen that one listed in the Memphis Armslist. The seller has it listed as a Belgian gun when its clearly a standard MK III which states on the slide and is readable in the photos "Made in Belgium, Assembled in Portugal" . This is not the same as a true "Made in Belgium" pistol and does not command a premium price. BTW: up until a day or so ago the was a nickle plated Hi-power with gold accents listed. Darn thing is too pretty to shoot.

H.R.8 - Bipartisan Background Checks Act of 2021
Grayfox54 replied to GlockSpock's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
I hadn't thought of that. Would make a valid legal argument against the universal background checks the feds have been pushing for years. Brilliant! Why hasn't anybody brought this up before? Added: I just sent e-mails to my Congress Critters to remind them of this fact. -
Damn Dude! You're just evil!
-
I first ran into the Texas Star when shooting IDPA. When you're on the clock, I hate that thing.
-
Buckle up. Universal background checks are the next push.

Now is the time for all those millions of new gun owners in restrictive states to speak up and contact their democratic congress critters. I've seen more than a few post about how much hassle it was and how pissed they got trying to buy their first gun. -
The news is Shelby County is both good and bad. Active cases are down to 1302. Lowest that's been in a very long time and the count seems to be dropping every day. The bad news is that deaths have now reached 1517. So while there are fewer cases, they seem to be getting worse.

While we're on the subject, I have part of my FIL's collection. Two good sized boxes. Mostly wheat pennies and buffalo nickles. I doubt if there's anything of real value in it, but I would like to get rid of them. Anybody know a reputable dealer in the Memphis area?
-
I'm no expert and can't really say. But my late FIL was a coin collector and I did learn from him that with coins condition is everything. What kind of shape is it in?
-
Same here. When I bought my first rifle from CMP I also got several cases of their greek surplus ammo. Then a couple of years ago stumbled across another case. I only shoot my M1s about once a year, so I'm good for a long time yet.

Gun guru Jim Cirillo had a system he called silhouette point shooting. Here the gun was raised to eye level, pointed at the target. But you didn't use sights. Instead you focused on looking squarely at the back of the gun. The sides, bottom or top should not be visible. What this does is make sure that you are square with the target and the gun was square with you. Or simply put, the gun was pointed where you were looking. The man survived over a dozen gun fights. I tend to listen to his advice.

That's my point. You're prepared for when the battery powered optic fails.
-
Good grief, I never meant to make a fuss. As for the battery comment, everything I have with any kind of battery powered optic is set up so it can be quickly and easily removed. It also has iron sights. Just in case. I still stand by my post. So let's just agree to disagree and move on. Shall we?

Memphis Folks: Good Lunch Spots Near Memphis?
Grayfox54 replied to E4 No More's topic in General Chat
Uh Guys, they're taking about stopping for lunch. Not a full course meal. I completely agree. If all you want is a good lunch, just hit the nearest Tops. They're all over town as its a local franchise. Many are near interstate exits. The best Bar-B-Que sandwich in town without the tourist trap prices. And as Garufa pointed out, great cooked to order burgers too.
