  1. Does anyone have a barrel spinner that I could rent or borrow, perhaps even sell or trade. Its really hard to get one right without something to chuck it up in or a spinner. Thanks Sunfish
  2. This has do do dripping from it because of where it was pulled out of. The water in these liberal strong holds surely has a toxin that causes delusions and a condition known to me as the walkie talkie head rattle. Being a progressive disease there is no known cure but the symptoms seem to improve when people point and laugh just before walking away
  3. The US Government does not make mistakes everybody else does. Anytime they do not want to honor a contract there is technical problems. In the past there were a lot of exceptions made for window dressing not so much today but still goes on.
  4. 3 high at 50 isn't so bad how does it do at 100? If it was me I would just hold down a little up close and see where it hit to the point of aim downrange.
  5. You could rust blue it with a steam pot. It takes a while because you have to repeat the process but it's the most durable.
  6. What ever the FBI choses the operator must be smarter than the handgun is. Female field agents are the reason the 10mm was ditched. When those agents were loading up in 86 to confront two armed bank robbers they needed real firepower for primary weapons and handguns should have been secondary. The agents should not have even tried to arrest them.
  7. I shoot .458 405 gr. Montana swaged in orange sabots from MRP in Harrison  Arkansas in my 50 cal in line. They start very easy and you can even paper patch if you want to. I got very tired of the performance of pistol bullets on whitetail. They also make 385 gr. and I just use 2  777 pellets with Remington muzzle loader 209 primers. My CVA Optima flat gets it done with no issues. If you can hit them your chasing and losing them in the woods are over. Sunfish
  8. It's not a big deal to clean behind corrosive ammo. Hot soapy water in a bucket or make you a 3 liter squirt bottle with a tygon tube to fit the chamber. 170 grain is newer than the stuff in the green tins.
  9. That old Stevens was made during the war. It has a plastic stock and these rarely are offered for sale. I have only seen one other and it was a single barrel. I would wipe it off real good, load it and sit it in the corner. Sunfish
  10. I'll see him Saturday hunting. Hopefully he will remember
  11. .47 cents a round. I may have to sell some of mine? this is probably steel case Romanian. Pete call me before you buy any.
  12.   When you see Larry at a show with shorts on ask him if those are his legs or is he riding a chicken. Ben laughs when he see's me coming.
  13. He bought blanks from Douglas and different places. I'll ask my buddy who the W is but the C is for Harry
  14. You powder may have been degraded by the bore butter. Many guys pop a few primers before loading but I do not. I am a clean and dry with acetone patch person. After the first shot I just quickly reload. Sometimes I shoot it out at the truck other times I push out the load from the breech to save those Hi dollar swaged bullets I shoot. The only difference in the primer thing that I have noticed with what I am using for propellant is the standard 209 shotgun primers seem to be a little harder to clean behind.
  15. Over the years I have seen many rifles around the shows that Harry put together. He built rifles for Dr's and country music people and every day folks like us. He was not stuck on one particular action be built everything from small bores to elephant guns.
  16. Harry lived in Hermitage
  17.  Harry Crighton built a lot of rifles.  My hunting buddy used to live next door to him. He has been gone a long time
  18. Your bolt must be the kind that slides forward when the trigger is pulled. The only way I see for it to do that to the primer is to back up when fired. I do know that the hole for 209 is smaller than say for musket caps. The spring that propels the bolt or pin might be weak?
  19. I'm thinking that the percentages in margin are with other rounds than .22. That being said they probably don't want to spin their wheels but a minimum amount. They are running 24/7 but they are making stuff that has way bigger profit margin. It's good business. Sunfish
  20. It will take sometime before it's presentable again. Perhaps Pete will post some after shots. The stock is pretty much firewood but I may take a donor end from another stock and attach it to the duffle cut just for a spare. Time has not been my friend of late. Once the metal is prepped I will mix up a batch of salts from lye and 34-34-34. Stinky job but the rifle would not look rite rust blued and commercial salts are to blue in color. Before anyone gets any ideas I do not do this for hire. Sunfish
  21. I wish I had enough great pistols to where I couldn't remember If I had a Browning Hi Power or not.
  22. Nice squirrel gun Pete. When you shoot that one I want to watch. Sunfish
  23. Over on Cast Boolits board there is a gentleman that sells top quality SS pins for cheap. A tip for anyone using city water that is not softened. Buy a thing of Lemi shine detergent booster you will be glad you did and the 12 ounce bottle lasts a long time. Sunfish
  24. I really like my Hakim and is the most accurate semi I have ever owned. They were made on Swede machinery in Egypt. Make sure you understand the safety and Bolt (it will cut a thumb to the bone.) Sunfish
  25. The safety lever does not match but is the late type. Put the lever in the first position and remove the bolt. Push the button on the shroud and turn it off. See if the firing pin # matches the shroud. The cocking piece should be #'d as well. The Ghn on the shroud is a contract supplier and would be correct. On the underside of the bolt root it should be marked 749 or maybe a 1 if it is a BCD bolt. Let me know what you find
