50 is probably enough for highway tread. 10 psi below max is as low as I would run mine. With the more aggressive tread designs your better off with them a little tighter so you don't get uneven wear patterns
-
Yes most of it is thicker and annealed. With it being thicker it also has less case volume so be careful when approaching max because it usually takes less powder to achieve

Anybody else gotta weedeat the whole yard before ya mow??
Sunfish replied to Steelharp's topic in General Chat
First thing I learned is mow high, no sense in scalping it when you mow every week plus. Mulching blades are junk. Get high lift ones and tie the chute back as stated above. Never blow the grass the same direction it just piles it up. Its harder to turn around and come back with a tractor style than a zero turn but do it anyway. Get yourself a sprayer and some Cornerstone from the Co-op. I spray around my AC units, water diffusers, and all my trees and the chain link fence. Saves me a ton of weed eating. -

Pretty expensive demonstration. Hope they learned everything possible with eyes shut and head down. That silencer wasn't very quiet to begin with -
PSA upper with a Colt lower is a good combination. I like the 20 inch 1-7 CHF CL. You will save enough buying PSA to buy a trigger. Sometimes spending more is better and sometimes not. Its kind of like factory ammo

It's unfortunate but necessary to sit them down on occasion.

I would like to learn more about this and work on the transportation aspect. Being older I have seen some pretty lean times and very familiar with doing without. -
What do you have to trade for some tracers? I'm not wanting to drive to Spring Hill

My name is Sunfish and I'm a real Mauser-holic. Yes they kick pretty hard in 8mm with full power loads. They kick much harder in 9.3x62 and 35 Whelen and 8-06 though. This all started with a 7.7 jap as a child which was a cock on close action and pricey Norma ammo and evolved to where it is today. There were Mosin's and Enfield's and 03's along the way. My only 03 was a straight stock and I was about 11 when I would take the wheelbarrow and a can of ammo to the creek and shoot until my shoulder was green it was bruised so bad. The creek was the perfect place to learn because I could see where every shot hit without walking back and forth. I got away from the rimmed cartridges and nearly everything I have is based on the 30-06 with few exceptions. I don't get to shoot as much as I would like but I make a day of it when I go

I would have been 12 in 69. Ten Years after and Joe Cocker are two I still watch on Youtube

MG 13 mags can be made to work in the Hakim. I'm sure you know to be selective about surplus ammo for these. You'll need a good gas tool of coarse. They are amazing shooters even with steel case Romanian. Never shoot any Turk in these. Sunfish -
I don't know much about these magazine guns but your going to want to control the gas with a Schuster or something. This being a non-standard gun I have no idea what it will stand pressure wise. M1's were powder and bullet weight specific. For example 150 gr. Ball with 4895 or 4064. I would stick to 147gr. 7.62 x 51 ball ammo and stay way from .308 Winchester with the heavy stuff like 168's and 180's until you can control the gas or you could bend the op rod. It could already be bent and that could be the reason it sold so cheap. There's a M14 mechanic in Madison named Ronnie Morris if he is still alive you might let him examine the rifle before firing it to be safe.

You will need a note book of your own and place the bullets across one side and the powder the other. The COL is helpful in the bullet tabs. Case volume is also a variable with straightwall cases.

Those Shaw barrels are short chambered so you will need a reamer to cut the last few thousands. I don't know anything about what Sarco is selling these days but you will need some sort of sights I recommend a Redfield or another quality one piece mount. The receiver will need to be drilled and taped 6-48 or perhaps 8-40. Also the safety will need to be fitted and it's better to let someone do it properly. This is going to cost as much as a whole entry level rifle will when you add it all up. There's a guy in Columbia, TN I will reach out to and see if he's interested in doing this for you. I don't talk to him very often and things change. I will message you this weekend when I find out.

Any interest in Mil-surps here?

Surplus ammo is a hot item in certain circles. If your friend had a ammo dump I would go through it first. This is usually the biggest and heaviest thing we drag home. If you find any all matching German stuff like lugers, K98's, or Broomhandles hang on to your hat because it's going to be a wild ride. Some of the accessory's go for more than you would think like stocks, Snail drums and the like. The SOS in Louisville, KY is the Hottest place on the planet for this. I have been around this kind of thing for 40 years and grew up with WW2 and Korean veterans that I learned from. I'm sorry about the loss of your best friend and it's noble of you to help his wife with his collection. It's a shame that your friend does not have an heir with his interest. -
I like a single action trigger pull verses a dart gun (striker fired). I also like double action for carry because if the gun is fired it's intentional and not a accident. I had a S&W 908s that had a smooth DA pull and should have kept it because The hammer was minus the spur and was perfect for a coat pocket. Springfield is big on marketing as there is not much new under the sun
-
Ask Tom Whitman at Legacy collectables he buys and sells lugers all the time. I bought one from him and sold him a Tokarev a while back.

Live stock is for true homebody's because it really ties you down. I keep things to where I can travel some in Winter and visit friends and family

Most young people today want things until they figure out how much work is involved. I wouldn't beat myself up to bad. Good partners are hard to come bye.
