  1.   Either of the latter two would be fine - not wild about the Big Dots.  My 75B isn't a defense gun - primarily used for range/recreation - so night sights aren't essential.  A good set of target-type sights would probably be best for my intended use.
  2. The other thread about the CZ 75 Accu Shadow prompted me to ask about good alternative sights for a plain old 75B.  I love the gun, but the sights for me are just too small and hard to see.  I'm confident my accuracy suffers as a result.     What have y'all put on your 75B's that has worked well for you?  Would you suggest something from either the custom shop or Cajun gun works?  Thanks!
  3.   Good thoughts, Pete - thanks!  I actually rented a p226 Extreme at Bud's in Sevierville earlier this week, and was very impressed with it as well.  Loved the SRT!  If those are occasionally available for $750, that's indeed a great deal.
  4.   Yep, that's definitely the question.  I'd say the grips are definitely thinner than a typical p226.  I have relatively small hands too, and it felt great to me -- almost 1911ish (not quite, but better than other Sig's I've held, including the sp2022).  I'm also thinking about the Sig Nitron Railed 1911, and neither of them are exactly economical.  Definitely can't afford both, and my aforementioned wife isn't sure I "need" either...  ;)
  5.   That's what I'm trying to tell my wife.  Unfortunately, she's not as easy to convince...  :D
  6. Got to handle one of these the other day, and was very impressed...   http://legionseries.com/p226-legion/   My question is, in your opinion, ("Legion Community" marketing gimmick aside), is this pistol worth the money over other p226's, or even over an sp2022?  The price on the one I saw was around $1150.  It seemed to have some very nice upgrades, the trigger was great, and the grips felt wonderful in my hand - but that's a big chunk of change.  Is it worth the asking price from your perspective?

    Ruger SR45

That's also something I'm considering.  I have a parkerized Springfield Loaded with night sights that would probably do the trick nicely.  But then I'd lose the excuse to buy another gun...  :shhh:   Also, I'd really like to attach a light to my nightstand gun, but I'm not sure I want a railed 1911.  I'm still working through that one as well.  I definitely wouldn't want a full rail, but I've seen a few models with half a rail that didn't look half bad.

    Ruger SR45

I had planned to when I went to my lgs the other night, but I got distracted by the Sig p226 Legion (And a Springfield TRP).  Before I do anything, I definitely plan to handle the SR45.

Oh, I'm always interested in another 1911...  :D

    Ruger SR45

Nope, don't have big hands.  I tried out a Glock 21 - felt like a 2 x 4.  Not sure if I had to that I could fire it accurately one-handed - just couldn't grip it well enough.  If the FNX is anything like that, it probably wouldn't work for me.  Nothing feels like a 1911 to me, and I may wind up just going with that.  Was thinking, though, that a little more capacity in a bedside gun wouldn't hurt.  And I'm definitely not opposed to 9mm - it would be fine as well.

    Ruger SR45

Went last night to a lgs just to see what I could see.  Got to hold several, and then saw a Sig p226 Legion.  I had heard and read about them, but had never actually held one.  Onhmy, it felt absolutely perfect in my hand.  I mean, it felt wonderful.  I couldn't care less about all the Legion marketing hype, but that is one fine, fine pistol.  Unfortunately, the price point isn't quite so fine - but really, not considerably more than some 226 models, and you get a lot of very nice upgrades on the gun.   Any of y'all happen to have one of these?  What are your thoughts on it?

    Ruger SR45

It was supposed to be NIB, but it didn't feel right to me either.  From what little I've read since yesterday, it sounds like they used to come in the cardboard until about 2012.  So, it may just be that this is an older model that has just been laying around in some storage room somewhere.  But I'm not taking any chances - especially since the price was just OK, but not great by any stretch.

    Ruger SR45

Have you checked out the M&P line? Interchangeable backstraps in 3 sizes so you can choose your fit. Everyone's hand are different, and I know there are some who say the Ruger SRs fit them perfectly. I'm not one of them. I don't like the feel of the ridge on the tips of my fingers on the shooting hand, and in general the guns feels awkward and clunky to me. One of my buddies has an SR45 and I put 5 mags through it awhile back. He loves it and doesn't like my M&Ps. Different strokes for different folks. I felt the like the M&P sits lower and more comfortably in my hand and recoils more straight back. The Ruger felt very top heavy and with a strong rotational twist in the recoil impulse.   The Ruger is cheaper in whatever caliber you choose, so there's that. If contemplating 9mm, I'd definitely recommend taking a look at the Sig P2022. They're usually right netween the M&P and SR series for cost. Another friend of mine just got one in .40 and I think it's probably one of the nicest guns under $500 (besides my beloved M&Ps, haha!) I'll probably have one sooner than later. That's not at all the info you asked for. Sorry. :-( I can't help myself.     Hey, I appreciate the input.  I actually handled a Sig SP2022 at a lgs yesterday, and was impressed.  The price was good, but it had the contrast sights vs. the night sights, and only came with one magazine.  If it had had night sights and one magazine, or the contrast sights with 2 magazines, I probably would have bought it.  It also came in a cardboard box.  I know, what difference does it make, right?  I'm just used to Sigs coming in the nice plastic cases.  Still a gun that is definitely on my radar...

    Ruger SR45

In his thread about metal guns vs. plastic, striker fired, etc., Steelharp mentioned that he'd love to see a Ruger SR45 in all metal.  I'm actually looking to get a new new nightstand gun, and the SR45 is one that I'm considering.  Unfortunately, it's not one that I read a lot about - evidently not as popular as some.  I'd love to get something relatively inexpensive yet reliable, with a light rail and a relatively high capacity, that can easily have night sights installed on it.  45 is preferable, but 9mm would also be acceptable.  My hands are relatively smallish, so something like a Glock 21 is just too thick.   For those of you who have this gun, what are positives that drew you to it and that continue to make you like it?  Does anyone else use it as a dedicated bedside gun?

    1911 virus

Don't overlook the Ruger SR1911 CMD - both the all-steel and lightweight models.  Good guns for the money...
  17. I love my Sig p938.  It would definitely be worth a look...

    Bye Bye Bersa

I should have mentioned that I have the Hogue finger-groove grips on the p238.  I'm sure that also helps with the recoil.  It adds a little to the width of the pistol and might therefore have an impact if you were to pocket carry it, but it's a non-factor on the ankle.

    Bye Bye Bersa

The recoil is as mild as it can be - you'll hardly notice it at all.  I traded a Ruger LCP to get the Sig - it was like night-and-day when it came to recoil.  I honestly hated taking the LCP to the range; it's not a problem at all with the Sig.

    Bye Bye Bersa

I carry a Sig p238 on my ankle nearly every day.  Works fine for that role...
  22. Hickock45 did a review on the Remington recently that you might find interesting.  I think he liked it pretty well...   https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1_DpHE0h9zk
  23. I sent an email to CZ Support to try to get some clarification on the MIM parts question.  Here is the response I just received:     Yes it does have MIM parts in it.  Although many people will say MIM parts are a much lower quality, there isn’t really much difference in the process when put through actual testing.  I don’t have the exact list of which parts are MIM, but it is probably the best 1911 for the money on the market right now.  We are also only producing the 1,000 we planned, and not making any more.   Christopher Watson Sales Assistant 800-955-4486 x 354 fax: 913-321-2251   MIM parts or not, still looks like a great gun - and if you want one, you better jump on it now...
  24. Man, that looks awesome!  I had heard conflicting reports about the lack of MIM parts in the CZ 1911.  Can we say for sure that it is MIM-free?  If so, that is a steal for the low $700's...
  25. I don't have a Mod 2 (do have an XDS), but everything I've read about them is very positive...
