  1. Could be right. He has strong beliefs about a man defending himself and his family. I'm waiting on my supertuck to come before I get serious about carrying. My cheap Fobus paddle holster is very obvious unless I'm wearing some sort of coat/jacket.
  2. My pastor was in the same hcp class as me(we both shot perfect scores) as well as two other friends of mine who are also church members. I haven't had the discussion with him yet because I'm waiting on an appropriate holster for concealed carry. But I don't think he will care and will possibly even prefer it.
  3. I have a holster on order from crossbreed, I hope this doesn't affect that. My thought and prayers are with the family.
  4. I live about 30 minutes away from Kingston. Seems like a good place to live. My uncle lives "south of the river." I don't exactly care for Frontier because of a couple expiriences in the past. They do have a lot to look at.
  5. My vote is sig sp2022, my opinion only, I have shot all guns listed the ruger is very nice but for me the super simple DA/SA trigger on my sig plus being able to carry with one in the chamber and decocked is the ticket
  6. In my hcp class the instructor, who is also a police officer, said to call dispatch, holster your firearm, wait for police. When you hear sirens present yourself as harmless as possible, hold your hands straight out to your sides, keep your hands visible. He said expect to get handcuffed and disarmed. You will be all jacked up on adrenalin so you will need a minute to calm down before you talk to police. Politely request for the time you need, any officer should respect that. Don't drink coffee or anything with caffine in it, the effects of caffine will be worse with the adrenalin already in your bloodstream. Once you are comfortable give your statement, just the facts don't try to connect the dots a good detective will connect them anyways. If it was truly a self defense shooting the evidence should be clear.
  7. Me and my best friend just got our hcp yesterday. It took 20 days. We went to the Dmv and did fingerprints same day. Not too bad walmart walk to come soon probably Thursday.
  8. I agree that the timing set for the 2.7l 4cyl is very expensive, you should know that the timing chain in the 2.7l is not a matinence item, like it was on the 22r series, on the 2.7l it only gets replaced when you have to tear apart the motor. I have over 260k factory water pump, and timing set on my 2.7l.
  9. I have a 2001 tacoma its a 4cyl 5 speed 4x4 manual I love it it has 260k miles. Every summer I load the bed full and pull a 16ft popup camper about 50 miles one way. You won't win any races but they will pull. The first weekend I owned my truck I pulled my best friends 1991 Norris craft 19 ft bass boat. And if you are worried about stopping, don't because the have 4 piston calipers and huge almost 11 inch drum brakes on the rear with a load sensing valve that applys more rear brakes when the rear is squatted. I have seen smaller travel trailers behind v6 trucks and 4 runners with no problems. I'm a Toyota nut and these trucks are fantastic. If you could afford an 03 up 4runner the were available with a v8.
  10. This story is the reason I carry 30 rounds of hollow point all the time I work next to one of the bad parts of town I will not surrender my life to some methhead or crackhead "zombie"
  11. Truly a sad story. I believe training is the key. I just recently purchased my first handgun and I'm very careful about leaving it out, I always know where it is and I never leave it lying around with one in the chamber. This story strikes a special chord for me. Just the other day when talking to my papaw about my pistol and how I was getting better shooting it. He jokingly said "You've been shooting pistols since you were a little feller." He then laughed and told me about the time I was between 2-3 years old I found my dads 357 in his k5 blazer and shot a hole through the back seat and floor. I could have been on the nightly news over 20 years ago. I thank God keeping me safe. My dad then taught me the right way been shooting as long as I can remember.
  12. What time does everything start? I want to come watch if you guys start early enough.
  13. I'll keep that in mind. I have a wedding to goto that afternoon but I definitely wanna come watch an event before I shoot one.
  14. Do you have to be a member to spectate or does it cost anything to spectate I would like to come and watch.
  15. I too have had bad experiences at cca in the past. I took my hcp class at the cca outpost on gallaher rd 2 weeks ago and have nothing bad to say. It was very informative and somewhat entertaining, but the class is put on by a 3rd party company. That being said the day of the class the staff in the showroom were very helpful.
  16. I have always heard mothballs would keep snakes away. we always put them around the edge of our yard and rarely see any snakes in the yard
  17. It is a great park. I live like 15 minutes from the park entrance. My moms property actually borders the park. I used to be up there all the time as a kid.
  18. I bet you could pull that trick with almost any plastic or even kydex paddle holster. It doesn't mean that its a bad holster, but it is an inherent weak point in a paddle holsters design. I have a Fobus out of about 100 holsters I tried it was the only one I found that would fit my SP2022. I know that it is not a fantastic holster but for me to quickly slide in my waist and go for a walk I couldn't beat it for 30 bucks. I am looking at a crossbreed supertuck, it is one of the few companies that makes a decent holster for my gun, but even after I get a supertuck I can still definitely see times where I would choose the paddle holster over the supertuck.
  19. I definitely agree. The issue of whether you can or cannot have a firearm in an apartment or hotel wasn't even discussed but we were talking about the castle doctrine and how it extends to your vehicle and property like an apartment or hotel room. I just took my class and I'm trying to learn as much as possible.
  20. In my hcp class this weekend, the issue was brought up about our rights as armed citizens who live in apartment complex. The instructor said that if you are living somewhere you pay to reside there then for the duration of your residency that is your "property" and you can expect to have the right to defend yourself. He said even in hotels. So why not hospitals you are paying for your stay. I know you can not legally carry when your under the influence of any mind altering substance. But what if you weren't under the influence? I'm not saying anyone coming in and out of should or shouldn't be allowed to carry. I'm just curious of your opinions.
  21. Mine is a 9mm, and so far I love it. It is the first handgun I have owned but not the first handgun I have ever shot. I have shot various Glocks in 9mm, .40, .45 and 10mm. I have shot 1911 variants including para ordinance double stacks, I have shot xd sub compact 9mm and xdm .40, Beretta 92fs, and several different revolvers. The sp2022 is the second Sig I have ever shot I also shot a p250 which I was really impressed with as well. I think it is a fantastic gun and is more accurate than I can hold it. The only thing I have found that I would change about the gun is the plastic guide rod its pretty flimsy, but a stainless replacement is on the way and can be had for less than 30 bucks. I have put 3 boxes through it since I bought it 2 weeks ago and it has been flawless.
  22. Just bought one a week ago Thursday at Academy Sports in Knoxville for 399 shot 3 boxes of shells through it so far.
  23. Well as soon as I get my permit I'll be carrying my Sig sp2022. For now I'll just carry it around the house and on hikes on my property.
  24. I finally got some pictures for everyone
