  1. JTM, I walk out my road a couple times a week for exercise its about 3 miles from my house to the main highway. I have passed several dogs and 99 times out of 100 a simple yell will put them on there way but when there is that one time when a dog attacks me, I'm gonna feed him a lead sandwich. I don't care who the dog owner is. Again ill state it, a man had the right to defend himself. No animals life is worth more than an injury to me and my family. If I get injured, I can't work, if I can't work bills don't get paid. No animals life is worth that much, especially someone's "pet."
  2. Agree. This is a gun owners site I can't believe so many people are having a hard time with the concept of defending oneself.
  3. That's more where I'm coming from. If my dog seriously hurts you(not talking about an abvious accident) and you don't kill it I will it is no longer a pet but a predator. And though I will cry like a baby, in the end I know things have been made right.
  4. Also, I mean threatened not scared because in every instance you are scared there may not actually be a threat to you. Scared is an emotion, threatened is a state of being. There must be an actual threat in order to be threatened.
  5. Dang, couldn't have said it better myself! Now look at the flipside of the coin if I'm walking on my property or down a public road and I feel "threatened"(not scared) I will dispatch any animal whatsoever, pet or not disreguarding laws or seasonal restrictions on killing such animals. If man has the liberty to be on his property or a public area, he should not have to fear his life or fear in protecting his life no matter what may threaten him, rabid animal, pet, or another man.
  6. Dolomite I completely agree with you I never shoot to injure an animal.
  7. I agree with you, dogs that have no owners are strays and not pets they eventually go back to living in a pack. They breed and make bigger packs, they get into the trash, kill peoples livestock, and chase and kill other animals like deer. They become a nuisance, like feral pigs. I live in a rural area there is no animal control. Many times when I have been deer hunting I have seen these packs of wild dogs and the main problem is they are not afraid of humans so they just roam the woods with no fear. I have had too many hunts ruined by useless strays, I have also dropped several right in there tracks, cruel, maybe, but I am far from heartless I had to put down my own dog and cried like a baby. It's all a matter of circumstance you see. Just the other day a stray dog showed up on my door step and was growling at my american bulldog, I didn't go out and shoot him, I hauled him away from my house and dropped him off, just what someone else had done to him. He was an adult shepard mix ,best I could tell, his sides were sunk in, he probably weighed 35lbs he should have weighed close to a 100 lbs. If he comes back I'll probably put him out of his misery. I don't want to argue I am simply stating reality, is it better to shoot the dog or let him starve to death? For you city dwellers that have animal control be thankful this is something you don't have to deal with, they deal with euthanizing dogs everyday. Where I live, we don't have animal control, strays are a serious problem.
  8. Another vote for the supertuck. I can comfortably carry my Sig sp2022 at around the 4 o'clock position a good belt is deffinitely a must for a bigger gun. I can conceal with little printing under just a t-shirt
  9. While I do respect your view I would never let a dog bit me if I can help it. I believe in protecting myself and my family first and foremost and if a dog or any other animal has to die for my family and I to be safe then so be it. I will deal with the consequences as the arise. Also I live in a rural area, I wouldn't have to worry about discharging a firearm within city limits, and the collateral damage from my bullet would most likely be negligible. If I were walking my dog in a city/ urban environment my opinion might change. I would maybe reach for my knife instead of my pistol. Again I would do nothing unless I was in fear of my life and safety. I don't want you guys to think I would just shoot someones dog because they startled me.
  10. This is my opinion only not a recommendation to you. I think I would use the same rule of thumb as shooting a person, I was in fear for my life.(Life of my dog?) There's no need to kill an animal you don't intend to eat or protect yourself from, and to keep you out of legal hot water I would think this would be a good rule of thumb.
  11. I would hate to imagine a place more rural than stoney fork. We helped their fire dept out. They had one truck no building so they have to put some kind of antifreeze in the water and in the pump. We gave them a bunch of fire hose and turn out gear. Everyone was really nice to us but we had a reason to go there.
  12. My wife and I were in Gatlinburg this weekend and either I'm bad at spotting them or nobody was carrying or the ones carrying where concealed very well cause I didn't notice anyone. I was carrying my Sig sp2022 in a supertuck just under my t-shirt. I know I print some but you can't physically see the gun. I got no looks or freak outs that let's me know I'm concealing well enough. I don't mind open carry but I'm only 24 and I can imagine some of the responses.
  13. My new goal in life. Pfft. Looks cool but I can't see the price.
  14. A little criticism is a good thing, definitely not rude. The first photo was just using my settings on my camera like ISO and exposure and color balance. As for the second I was playing around with lighting effects on Photoshop it was my first time using them. The third is a photoshop filter it is supposed to look noisy and exaggerate the edges I thought it was a cool effect. Really? I think that magazine is pretty sweet. I just really like the format, tactical guns and gun lifestyle and an awesome vehicle in each issue and cool how to articles like polymer stipling and shooting gun porn.
  15. I was reading recoil magazine and it has an article about shooting gun porn. All the pictures in the article were shot with either camera phones or point and shoots. It talks about lighting and scenery etc. So our ceiling fan has little reflector lights that you can aim instead of globe lights. I figured I would try it. The first picture is just with settings on the camera like color balance and exposure, second picture has lighting effects and the third has a filter. As for my prop its a cheap army surplus bag that hooks on the back of an Alice style backpack. More to come cause I like it.
  16. These were shot with my canon point and shoot camera Original Photoshops
  17. A guy that I went to high school with was diagnosed with lukemia about 8 months ago. They gave him a very bad report only gave him a couple weeks to live with or without treatment. He has a wife and young children so he chose to take treatments and he beat it. A couple weeks ago, he preached his first message in months. God can heal. If its through the doctors and treatment its no less of a miracle in my opinion.
  18. I understand your type of luck. My step dad was taking our riding mower down our driveway which is a very steep gravel driveway. In order to do this you have to put in in the lowest gear and idle the motor down and NEVER hit the brake because as soon as you hit the brakes it freewheels and you will probably hit 30+ mph. The lawn mower started to slide and he hit the brake and rode it for a while and then had to bail and landed directly on his 1911 that was cocked and locked and slid in the gravels on the brand new rosewood grips he had just put on, but the gun never fired.
  19. I live 30 minutes away I am local. Its been almost 10 years since the expirience I mentioned I was about 15 I'm 24 now. I have been one time since to watch a pistol shooting.
  20. I recieved my holster yesterday. Im really appreciative of the great product and customer service that crossbreed continues. It's really easy to be a critic over the internet but I would dare say that any of you would think the same thing if you had paid for a product and 7 days later you had heard of the owners death. I meant no disrespect to Mr. Craighead. Sincerity is hard to convey over the internet. I lost my dad at 9 years old he was in his 30s. I know all too well the hole left behind by a life taken away too soon.
  21. It's not very difficult to join you either need a current member to sponser you or to be a member of the Nra. But don't expect to be "in" immediately. Short story for you my stepdad, brother and I used to go and shoot 1000yd high power rifle and I never felt welcome. We shot a custom baker rifle chambered in 30FBI. It was digital camo, everyone else was shooting these funky rainbow colored match rifles and our "ugly" gun was was showing them up. We quit getting invited to the matches and special practice sessions when its the only time you can use the 1000yd range.
  22. ORSA is uber nice but there are several people there who don't like tactical style guns and its a little hard to get "in"
  23. Well would I have to have the same paperwork for a suppressor
  24. I'm a resident of Morgan co. I don't know freytag real well. I live in mossy grove. We should get together sometime. Heck I might even know you. My mom and stepdad ran a gun shop for a while in Petros a few years back
