  1. 2001 Tacoma 2.5" lift on 285x75r16 tires, custom rock sliders, Yakima mega load warrior that mounts above the bed, hopefully front bumper and winch to come this summer. Couple of pictures from windrock in august '12 Here's a close up of my rock sliders. For anyone interested I know a good fab guy in knoxville who can make just about anything I gave him a picture and we came up with a couple of changes and here's the final product.
  2. Shoot lead instead of the supersonic alloy, then all you hear is the spring unload. I'm shooting the gamo bone collector pellets the are for hunting and stay subsonic and penetrate like nobody's business.
  3. X2 I love shopping online except for ^this^. I would be interested to meet up sometime, I like maxpedition stuff, its usually uber nice.
  4. Understood, so more food and a more suitable pack with a bladder, seems like I'm almost there, I knew when I started that a butt pack wouldn't be ideal but it's what I had readily available. I will also add a couple contractor trash bags because they take up almost no room and have many uses. I now feel more confident that I could make it a couple nights with this pack once I add some food. I might try to practice some this spring. I heat with wood so I feel my fire tending skills are pretty good, I don't start my fires with a torch or lighter fluid, usually just dryer lint and kindling.
  5. I'll take a look at it, I know my pack wouldn't be as comfortable as an actual pack but I'm more worried about assembling the right stuff and then I can find a bag that fits it all.
  6. O, I forgot to mention I have straps on it so it works just like a backpack. I have a larger pack with an internal frame and place for a water bladder that I'm working on too, but its too big for everyday How much water should I carry? One thing about my route is there are some major water supplies along the way. Would a large canteen with its own strap be a better choice?
  7. I still have an outside pouch open I was thinking about lifeboat rations and maybe stripped mre's, I have an aqua mira filter straw and purification tablets plus I always have another 32 oz stainless container in my truck, so that would be 3 quarts of water, I could carry, do I need more.
  8. working on it I had it all typed and lost it earlier so I'm doing it in steps this time.
  9. The purpose of this bag is to get me back home from work or school in Knoxville. I figured I could post up pictures for ideas of things I missed Here's a map of my approx. route. 35 miles on the highway. Here's my bag. Its a black hawk L.R.R.P. with a condor gp pouch attached and a Camillus Sk mountain knife. And gear. Binoculars, 2 canteens, Headlamp, duct tape around a card, box of pistol ammo, and gloves go in the outside pouches. In my Level 1 GP pouch I have a condor headwrap, a survival blanket, aqua mira filter straw, 2 snickers marathon bars, about 12ft of 550 cord, fire steel, mag block and knife, matches in water proof container, dental floss, cotton soaked in vasoline in an altoids tin, small single AA flashlight, bic lighter, and a card wrapped with duct tape and fishing line. In the main compartment I keep goretex pants, wool socks, fleece helmet liner, boonie hat, survival blanket, GPS, ziploc bag of tp and napkins and lighter, Adventure medical first aid kit, Lifeline ultralight survival kit, and a signal flare. I added stainless scissors, water purification tablets, chapstick, and bug repellent to the first aid pouch, In the flap pouch I keep 550 cord, knife and multi-tool and roll of electrical tape.
  10. Had mine since 8-6-12 so not real long but I'm proud to say that since I got it there has only been a very few days I haven't been carrying.
  11. Welcome to the club, I bought a silent cat after Christmas and I love it. I have taken a couple squirrels with mine so far it works great for small game. In the next couple of weeks I think I'll throw a camo job on mine.
  12. X2 closer to what mountains we have, and if they set up around Knoxville I already work in Knoxville.
  13. I would love to see them here, I would love to work for them, I'm almost done with my Mechanical engineering degree.
  14. Lol my wife "dressed" the snowman I thought he looked like a frenchman too
  15. I believe you are correct about the parkerizing. I believe it's more like a coating on the steel whereas blueing is in the steel. I don't have long arms or thumbs either but I'm gonna try it and if no good then I'll return it.
  16. Nice shotty, I'm uber jealous of your surefire forend. Sucks about the bayonet lug, do you know anyone who could machine it down a little? I would imagine you could shave a little off and have it still work. I've been shooting mine a lot recently since 12 gauge birdshot is still available and prices haven't skyrocketed. I'm gonna try the nebo light on mine and give it hell, and if it doesn't hold up I'll upgrade to a surefire system.
  17. A little story on my purchase of this gun. I had a youth model 20ga 870 I sold to a friend for 100 bucks. I went to a gunshow the following weekend and picked up this gun, for 150, but it looked a lot different than it does now. It was completely stock with a 26 in barrel, and the whole gun had a pine needle camo job. So I disassembled it and took paint stripper to the metal parts and then prepped it and painted green, added the new stock and forend, mag extension, side saddle, and big head safety, but still had the 26 inch barrel. It remained that way for a couple years till just recently when I found the barrel.
  18. Good video, anyone know of anymore 2a gatherings in east Tn kinda like the one in Maryville this past weekend? I was working and missed it.
  19. Red Coolaid for blood, I didn't actually shoot any of them even though it a couple look like it.  I painted the mouth and eyes with spray paint.   That is the view from my house I live in Morgan Co. We had about 4-5 inches of snow.
  20. Some pictures from the snow we got on 2-3-13
  21. Thanks man, still happy with the barrel, looking to put an xs big dot on it but it's loads of fun.
  22. My grandmother used to put dubble bubble gum in their tracks just push it down in. She said they would eat it and it would stop them up and they would die. I guess it worked the tracks definitely thinned out afterwards
  23. I agree with you on this, I have even said to others that once we get past this assault weapons ban b.s. that pro 2a supporters should go on the "offensive" one issue I think should be addressed is legalizing suppressors for hunting and recreational use without the big tax stamp and background check. Criminals get their hands on suppressors if they want them but the tax keeps me from getting one, same argument as the awb.
