Me neither. I had a 1911 that had problems for decades and escaped several gunsmiths. Jeff fixed it in minutes for free.

If 85% of the world's population hate their job then you might as well get paid better to do it. $15k can sure make a difference in your life if you don't go out and just run up more debt.

You also used .22 LR too, right?

I can't speak for the other services, but in the Marine Corps boot camp EVERY recruit spent two weeks on the rifle range where the first week was safety, marksmanship, and dry-firing exercises, and the second week was live fire with the last day as qualifications. We were also familiarized with, and fired, the .45 pistol. Every year after boot camp, EVERY Marine had to spend a week going through it all again, and when you made NCO you had to qualify with the pistol too. The only time that you got to stop that process was when you got out of the Marine Corps or you qualified Expert 6 years in a row. Then there was safety training around machine guns, hand grenades, rocket launchers, artillery, etc. Hell, I got more safety and weapons training in the Marines than I did as 6.5 years as a LEO! With all that safety training, weapons training, and live fire some Marines still did stupid that got them or others hurt or killed. We've even seen certified firearms instructors have NDs including shooting their selves in front of their classes.
-
I dunno. We had Marines putting live rounds in M-16's that had the BFA attached. In my battalion we had a Marine with a M-16 loaded with live rounds shoot a Korean woman while he was riding by in a truck on maneuvers. It's the old saying, "You can't fix stupid."

You said constantly supervised. That means a so-called "superior" watching over me 24x7x365. That didn't happen.
-
Um, no they aren't. Most of my time while in the Marine Corps I had no "superior" anywhere around me.

I'm surprised that they could get through Husky fur.

I think I'd start coughing.

Nashville Shootout Body Cam Footage

Well, granted it's been 28 years since I was a LEO, but I believe that you are wrong on a couple of things. First of all, the video starts during the conversation where she has gotten back into the car after immediately exiting the vehicle; therefore, you cannot see or hear what transpired before the video starts. If the officer smelled the odor of marijuana, that is probable cause to continue the Terry Stop. This is innuendo as the officer references "other problems." During a Terry Stop an officer has the right to check for weapons on or about the subject which includes the vehicle. That excludes any locked compartments which would require a search warrant unless the car was being impounded after an arrest. The bag is not a locked compartment and can easily contain a weapon. She was also acting suspicious and ignoring the officers commands. She surrendered the bag to the officer, and then he asked her what she took out of it. That means he saw her take something out of the bag and could have seen her try to hide it. After she has surrendered her bag he asks her "So it's just in here?" to which she says yes, and he then pulls out a bag of what I assume to be marijuana, and asks her if that was it to which she also says yes. She even acknowledges that it's "a bag of weed" while holding the phone to her ear. He then finds powdery substance that I can only assume looking like drugs since that isn't shown. Face powder doesn't look like cocaine, and I assume that he knows the difference. Even possession of a dusting of cocaine is a felony. That's when he calls car 25 to see if he/she is available for what I assume is for backup. From there the goes sideways. I see absolutely no violations of her civil rights. -

I don't disagree, which is why I referred to the current environment in my post. -

Back in the day, if I ran a traffic stop on a car with felony warrants I would have called for backup immediately and performed a felony car stop. Things have changed, I guess. -

As a former LEO, my opinion was that he failed to control the situation from the start, and it cost a life and his health. I would NEVER let a person that I have stopped go in and out of the car like he did. That was just asking for trouble. Psychologically speaking, it allows the suspect to feel like they are in control, and when he tried to cuff her, her mindset was abruptly changed. Since he is a training officer I expect better out of him. Granted, I was a LEO a long time ago, and the current environment for LEOs is much different than what I had to work in, but base tactics should be the same. -

BTW: The latest research is that antibodies last 8 months. If you contract a mutation your antibodies would likely protect you from it becoming severe. Something similar happened with H1N1: Those who got the flu shot and contracted H1N1 had a mild case of H1N1. -

I got mine yesterday in VA Murfreesboro. I define better as if you still get the virus that the effect is lessened. In other words, if you are part of the 5% that the vaccine doesn't work on what are your chances of dying from it. J&J is showing that if it doesn't work then you still won't get severely sick from it and/or die. My wife is calling our local Wallyworld to see if they have the J&J. -

If I had been given the choice I would have chosen the J&J vaccine. I may not be as effective as the mRNA vaccines, but it's hard to argue with ZERO deaths and ZERO severe cases of COVID if it doesn't prevent you from getting it. The adenovirus technology has been around for decades, but mRNA has been around a while too, and it's based on decades of research. -
I got my second shot of Moderna yesterday. Shoulder is a little sore, but not as sore as with the first shot when they jabbed a nerve. No feeling of sickness, either.

You lost me there, guy. I have absolutely ZERO responsibility to protect neither you nor anyone else. It is everyone's responsibility to look after their selves. I took the vaccine because, (with a significant background of education in medical science), the risk analysis showed me that it was in my best interest to do so. If someone wants to come on here and state they they won't take the vaccine for whatever reason, (justified or unjustified), that's their choice as well as they have no responsibility to take care of others either. If someone chooses to take the vaccine for whatever reason, (justified or unjustified), then that's their choice for the same reason. What I have a problem with is people coming on here fear-mongering by spreading unsubstantiated claims or citing so-called "studies" that are anything but scientific. -

The amount of bad information being spread in this thread is astounding. Anyway, day two post 2nd Moderna shot and my shoulder is a little sore, but not as bad as after the first shot; however, with the first shot they landed on a nerve. I don't feel sick, just cranky because I've been listening to a dog yip since 1:29 AM. -

I got my 2nd shot of Moderna this morning. Several hours later and not even a sore shoulder like I had with the first shot. -
Mine was VA Murfreesboro. I had an "appointment" too, but I was 212th in line. My first shot I had an arm that was more sore than with a normal vaccine, but she landed smack-dab on a nerve with the needle. This time I felt nothing, and so far no soreness. I wish they'd given me the choice to opt for the Johnson & Johnson the second go around. With the Moderna it works better unless you are in that small percentile that it doesn't work at all - then you risk death. With the J&J vaccine, if it doesn't work you still have no severe symptoms.

I got my second dose of the Moderna this morning. We'll see if the second dose has more kick than the first, I guess.
