  1. It's been a long damn time since she's been given anything purple.
  2. +1 But consider this: Someone wanting to get something on us "gun nuts" could sign in and post their own wierd crap under a pseudonym. Then they can reference said crap falsely. It not like the anti-second amendment creeps are above lying.
  3. Words cannot sufficiently describe how this former Marine feels about this.
  4. The extent of my plans should the bill pass would be to transport my loaded mags in the gun case in the trunk when going to the range. That's it.
  5. As a former police officer, (1988 - 1993), who also worked for ADT for a short time when I got out of college, (11/1997 - 2/1998), I would tell you to tell her that her trust in the alarm company and the timely response of the police to the alarm is misplaced. The alarm company shows you pretty commercials with a reactive representative promptly responding to the alarm with his concerned supervisor hovering over his shoulder. That is total BS! Unless things have changed dramatically since I worked for them, the rep is supposed to call the home to verify that the alarm is NOT FALSE, and then call the police who tend to look at burglar alarms like the car alarms constantly going off around us. Depending where you live it can be a long damn time before the police arrive. What good is that if she's already dead? And don't think the majority of burglars are unaware that someone's home when they break in. They don't tend to choose homes at the spur of the moment.
  6. Not supporting a ban "That does not work" does not mean that they won't come up with their own version of a new and improved version of AWB. This will not make me fall asleep.
  7. It just said, "Speer 180 Gold Dot". They mushroomed, but didn't penetrate. I know I've been out of the firearms game for awhile, but geez!
  8. But for the original intent of this thread, I do not have a problem telling about the one time I came close to killing someone. I believe that it's important to share such things so that others can learn from your experiences - be it good or bad. It was before I became a police officer when I was working armed security in a bar district in Kansas City, Missouri in 1986. The area is called "Westport", and at the time had about 16 bars in a 3 block radius. During the weekends, the Kansas City police did not come down there unless they were called, so for all practical purposes, the security was the police. We responded to a fight in progress with armed combatants. When I got to the scene, I saw a white guy with a baseball bat, and a black guy with a tire tool fighting. The black guy was clearly defensive. Since both subjects were armed and I was within a few yards of them, I drew my Ruger .38 and yelled at them to drop their weapons. The black guy turned his head and dropped his tire tool immediately. The white guy, who was a couple of yards further away, decided to take the opportunity to swing for the fence. I aimed at him, yelled to drop the bat or else, and pulled the trigger to half-cock. I did this because I learned this was back in the day when most PD's carried revolvers, and I had learned beforehand that people won't pick-up on much, but they will pick-up on the turning of a cylinder in a revolver. They white guy, (through the alcohol), realized that I was serious, and dropped the bat. I was so pissed at the guy that I couldn't deal with him. I had one of the other guys hand-cuff him while I dealt with the black guy. I was seething with anger because the guy brought me so close to ending his life for something so stupid: He was driving the wrong way in the parking lot, and the black guy blew his horn at him. The white guy grabbed the bat and started wailing on the black guy's car. When he went after the glass, the black guy grabbed the tire tool more in an attempt to protect his girlfriend who was in the passenger's seat. It was sort of odd to be so angry yet so grateful that I didn't have to end that man's life. I never would have imagined that I would have felt that way. This was a rough area, but I never REALLY gave thought to EVER having to come that close to killing someone. i think it was because I was planning on becoming a police officer for years before this happened that helped me through this situation. Some may think this is nothing but a story, and that's fine. Whatever. I know it's real. I can guarantee you that I'm no where near 19 years old, and have no reason to BS anyone.
  9. I saw them. One in particular was a shoot-out in Commiefornia at a motel, (I think). The one I remember was a film to demonstrate what someone can do under adrenalin. If I recall it was to demonstrate the contrast between this and the "Good Guy" syndrome where a policeman died from shock after being struck with a grazing wound to the forearm with a .22 short.
  10. Geez! A 40 only penetrated 1"? WTF?
  11. Or the people at the McDonald's in San Ysidro, California on July 18th, 1984. Or the Buffalo Wild Wings just a couple of weeks ago.
  12. The real damage is done by contacting the advertisers and tell them that you'll not patronize them as long as they show their approval with the paper's position by doing business with them. If they get enough negative comments they'll pull their money.
  13. Very well stated, but, judging from the other articles of the CA, it'll "Fall on deaf ears."
  14. Personally, if they post up I'll not patronize ...ever...and I'll let the management know extactly how I feel.
  15. Yeah, but what's Jimmy up to with this? He has to have a hidden agenda.

    New Job

    Congratulations!
  17. I have a CT grip on my M&P 9mm sub-compact, and I have mixed emotions about it. Yes, the stock sights are damn near impossible to see quickly with bifocals. I just had a Hi-Viz sight installed to try and help that. For reasons I cannot explain, I seem less steady trying to hold the LAZER dot on target than when using the sights. But it's also easier to call your shot. IMHO, the Hi-Viz is a better choice. My sight has two switches. One is the power on/off, and the other is a pressure activated switch to turn on the LAZER when I grip. So being in the holster doesn't run down your batteries.
  18. Nothing surprises me about our schools anymore. I met a graduate of Overton H.S. who had honestly never heard of the Revolutionary War by any name. I thought he was BS'n me for quite awhile, but he insisted that he'd never heard of it. He was clueless about it all. I was just dumbfounded after I realized that he was being truthful with a H.S. Diploma.
  19. Piss-poor customer experience. The customer may not be right all the time, but they are the customer. It shouldn't be up to you to prove anything. Unless they have a recording of you stating on the phone the wrong thing they should correct the mistake and pay the cost. They can write it off as a loss at the end of the year.
  20. IMO, if you supplied the serial number as the detective said, then it is consentual regardless of whether he identified himself as a LEO. It would be the same as throwing out your trash, and the LEO digging through it.
