That was also a real idiot to be going that fast with a toy-hauler in tow. I'd be surprised if he didn't blow a tire and shred his aluminum skirt going that fast.

Smile Direct Club - Nashville
E4 No More replied to monkeylizard's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
News report that I saw said he was an employee. He'd worked there before and left for a while. EDIT: https://www.wsmv.com/news/metro-pd-gunman-dead-3-injured-in-shooting-at-antioch-smile-direct-club/article_c738e438-f44c-11eb-bd05-073414734d3a.html?block_id=994460 "Metro Police tell News4 the man worked at the Smile Direct Club facility from late 2019 to 2020 and recently started working there again in June of this year. Dan Mandis said today that they are having a hard time locating an EKMO machine in middle Tennessee.

And worth it!

I've tried all sorts of over-the-counter stuff and prescribed medicines. The only thing that works reliably is getting drunk, and that ain't good for me. I'm actually fed-up with what the VA has been trying, so I'm going to The Sleep Center next month to see what the civilians can do. They can prescribe better drugs.

It doesn't work on me.

Don't feel like the Lone Ranger. Part of my brain likes to torture the rest of it. It's why I battle with insomnia.

And they don't sag with age!

Phil has claimed that he is in good shape for his age and not at risk. He's run a risk analysis based on the information available and felt he wasn't at risk of death. People can be wrong, or sometimes the odds just bite you in the ass.

@MacGyver Listened to Dan Mandis a little while going to the store today. He couldn't give specifics but did say that Phil Valentine is fighting for his life. I wonder if Phil's re-thought his stance on the vaccine?

That would have taken out 3 other souls with him. The 80-something old woman had a pretty cool history. She was a test pilot of the Mercury Program at age 22. She'd always wanted to go into space but didn't get to go. She mentored other women who piloted the space shuttles. The dick's brother is a firefighter, and the teenager was just some rich kid.

My autistic grandson worked for Amazon. He's earned the hate.

I've had both doses too, but I still use hand sanitizer to lessen my chances of picking up some rug-rat's cold.

It was the world's most expensive drop ride.

When I was a LEO in the late 80's I was sent through a class called Red Handle Gun. In that class they used real revolvers loaded with cartridges filled with a cotton ball and a magnum primer. You would be amazed at the pain and resulting red welts left by those when you are "shot" up close.

Yes, the bones behind the eye forming the back of the eye socket, (sphenoid and lacrimal), are VERY thin. You were luckier than you might have thought at the time.

I think I would have asked him if the black folks that aren't vaccinated are racist.
-
I would imagine so. You were lucky, (albeit to an extent), that the wall bled-off some of that energy which is why I alluded to what you might consider semantics. 22 can do some surprising damage for a little sucker. When I was in college I knew a rabid anti-2A fellow student. He was afraid of guns because his best friend was shot with a 22 in the pelvis, (hip bone). The bullet glanced off the bone and traveled up through the abdomen and chest into the left shoulder killing him.

I dunno. I take "shot" literally, and don't really consider taking shrapnel or ricochets as being "shot" - although in some cases like David's there isn't much difference between the two. One of my COs in the Marine Corps got hit by shrapnel above the right eye that came from a LAW rocket shot on a target on the range in 29 Palms. There was a considerable distance from the firing line to the target that you'd think that you were safe from such things, but he got cut pretty good. But you wouldn't hear him say that he survived being "shot" by a LAW rocket. I've taken shrapnel from a couple of bullets that either hit a rock or off of a metal target, but the worst injury that I got from shooting was an over-pressured 20 Ga shot shell in my grandpa's double-barrel. The case split at the base of the head and shot flake gunpowder and brass out between the standing breech and the fence into my left forearm lodging in the skin. I went to the ER where they scrubbed my skin raw with Betadine and a scrubbing pad to get the powder out. I don't know if they were worried about leaving the powder in to come out naturally, or just wanted to torture an 18-year old who liked guns.

Too bad this thread can't get the virus.

I thought that this was just a joke until I Googled it.

Where I was a LEO we had the Claycomo Ford Plant, and we drove ONLY Ford Crown Victorias. At the front entrance to the plant there was a prominent sign stating that no foreign cars were allowed on the property. I would chuckle at the sign because the engine in my Crown Victoria that I was driving was built in Canada. Put also personally owning numerous Fords, (including performance cars such as the 2008 GT500 and 2013 BOSS 302), I have moved away from them because of cheap shortcuts and crappy designs that do not get fixed. Example: two Focuses that were about 10 years apart have the same transmissions break in the same manner; flimsy shifters in their performance Mustangs. RAPTORs having several issues when first released; sheet metal so flimsy on the 2009 F150 that it dented easily; and engine design failure in the engines of their Fusions where one of the cylinders wasn't getting enough oil. In my daughter's Fusion she had to replace two engines and a transmission.

I saw a sport. Not impressed.

BTW @Garufa Rat Snakes come in different colors: black, yellow, and grey with the yellow having a completely different pattern. They emit a musky stench when defending their selves. I just removed a grey one from my back yard last Saturday, and two of my dogs decided that they wanted to roll in the stench left in the grass were I had picked up the snake.
