Judge serves sentence alongside veteran with PTSD

Would that we had more like this fine man in public service. -
I remember the ice cream truck growing up. Screwballs or a slush were my favorites. The lady driving it would just stop every few blocks and play some kind of bell ringing a few times instead of serenading the whole neighborhood. Of course, as kids we were already outside playing during those times, so we heard it loud and clear, then would either take the few bucks we had, or run in house to go get money, and go get something if we wanted.

I think Prince deserves his own thread. Respect.

Great artist that knew how to perform, and was dedicated to his craft. His songs always kept me from changing the station when it came to radio music...which I apparently do a good bit, or so say my ex-girlfriends. Condolences to his family and friends. -
If it had to be a woman, I'm fine with Harriet Tubman. Her role in history being minor or major is a personal opinion, nothing can discount the deeds she did, and the lives she saved. I'd even argue that for a black woman in her time, her accomplishments are even more impressive considering what she had to overcome. Would you rather wait 20 years and have Hillary's face on the $20?

Yeah, I know, I was just breaking it down for the...let's call them the less technically inclined members of TGO. :)

Wouldn't shock me in the least if there is some kind of database out there. Between the background checks, financial records of both the individual and business, our own posting on sites such as this, I'm of the mind that collecting the raw data wouldn't be difficult. Organizing and analyzing it for a complete picture would be, but I wouldn't say a snapshot or sampling is out of the question for current technology. That said, this is still the government. So, it's probably riddled with all manner of errors and nowhere near 100% accurate for what they may indeed have. Maybe 75-80% if they used all the methods available, legal or not. My hope is they look at that list, incomplete as it is, and realize they can only go so far in their dealings...which was the point of the 2nd Amendment to begin with.

Watching someone try to play Duck Hunt with one of those would make a cool YouTube video.

Cell phone pics look pretty damn good to me. Reminds me I haven't had a real vacation in a good bit and need to take one sometime.

It may not be a case of directly stealing valor for himself, but he is still stealing it from others who earned it. When someone tries to present themselves as equal to those who have worn the uniform, or served in a specific billet, they are trying to get people to associate the respect, and honor of that service with themselves, when they haven't earned it. Those creds he claimed were not his, and he knew it. If he wanted them, all he had to do was sign up, earn the title, put on a ruck and move out. By claiming he did so, he stole the valor of those men who did earn those titles and honors. Just as despicable as someone who buys medals from a catalog and tries to tell people he earned them. I don't care if they build a decent rifle. It could shoot like a Daniel Defense build, look like a Noveske product, and come with a price tag like it was from a PSA holiday sale, and I still wouldn't care. If they did indeed lie like they are accused of doing, I won't spend a dime on their products.

First and foremost, he is allowed every protection under the legal system, so he's innocent until proven guilty. If he pleads, or is found guilty, he should get no better or worse treatment than anyone else with his prior record for the situation surrounding the arrest. His hero status is irrelevant in that determination. As for what he did to make himself a celebrity, that's between him and DoD legal (violating the NDA), and his fellow SEALs (going public in the first place).

When I got a VP9, I ordered a fresh shell for my Alien Gear OWB, and also picked up a Comp-Tac International Holster. The Alien Gear doesn't print much under a big enough shirt, but the Comp-Tac is only good for open carry for a while with winter having come and gone. Happy with both options for what they are designed for.

As much as where you pack the items inside, is how you wear it. 20lbs worn wrong can feel like 30, or 20lbs worn right can feel like 10. This becomes more important as you up the weight, but even at lower levels, the comfort benefits might make the hiking more enjoyable. Try to get the pack as high on the back as you can, and cinch down tight as your biceps allow. Then let out a little slack until it feels comfortable, but is still high up. If you have to bend over, or get someone to hold it in place while you pull the straps, that's fine. I'd also recommend going gradual with the weight increases. No more than 5lb at a time, and unless you want to push yourself, only make the jump after you feel little to no challenge with the current weight.

Oy vey...we debunked that when you posted it over seven months ago. http://www.tngunowners.com/forums/topic/90255-muslims-in-our-government

I wouldn't count this as a "pro-gun bill," more of an administrative clarification than anything else. Not saying it wasn't a good thing, but if a legislator tries to tell me it's proof they are pro gun, I'll ask them where is their bill, or one they co-sponsored that would allow me to carry inside their office in Nashville.

I'll bite. What pray tell do you mean by "infiltrated" our political institutions? Credible sources, please.

I really don't care what color the signs are, nor what background color they're contrasted against. Standardization in that isn't really important. I just want them large enough so I can read them at eye level on my way in the door.

Within the US, only one major religious following has any significance in affecting policy through the chief executives and legislatures at the local, state, and federal level, and it surely isn't Islam. I'll worry about their political aspirations inside America when I have to, until then...meh.

$69,237.00 to be exact. http://www.grandforksherald.com/sites/default/files/Salaries%20combined.pdf Not sure how that relates to academia in general, the area she lives in, ect...but I can't imagine her salary being prohibitive to a modest living in North Dakota.

Funny, I thought to be a good American, all you had to do was follow our laws. Guess all that goes out the window when the Islamic boogeyman is involved.

This was already full potato, and we're well on our way to a double potato. The videos work in Google Chrome, but not Firefox for some reason on my computer. They're worth watching. http://www.grandforksherald.com/news/education/3994383-video-professors-criticism-rotc-drills-und-campus-draws-internet-ire I can see how she wouldn't know what was going on. If I had to memorize the salient details of every mundane email I get from MTSU, I wouldn't have time for anything else...so I can believe she didn't know the ROTC cadets were going to be out there. I can even understand why she might think that someone carrying guns could be a shooter, or en route to start shooting. It's not out of the realm of theory to think an active shooter might be wearing camouflage uniforms. There is even logic in thinking those were cops responding to an incident, since some LEO's think camofauge uniforms are all the rage. If all she had done was call 911 at that point to report what she saw, the had things explained to her, and false alarm was declared, we'd be cool. Everything that has happened since then (particularly the letter) is on her. I'm sure that some people are going overboard in their responses, and that Facebook group is pretty stupid. Doesn't absolve her actions after having the situation explained to her.

Ha, nice one. A few years back, US Cav had a set of BDU's with MOLLE/PALS webbing all over so you could just put pouches on your coat and trousers. -

In abstract, I'd consider dealing with assholes a safety concern since assholes can go from verbally disruptive to physically disruptive easily enough. What I'm talking about stuff like the gay wedding cake incident in the modern day, and the discrimination that occurred before the Civil Rights Act took effect. -
If I was in charge of that ROTC detachment, I'd assign two cadets to stand guard in full battle rattle outside her door during office hours. That way she can feel safe. ;)
