  1. https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/morning-mix/wp/2016/06/20/this-was-30-minutes-of-hell-for-this-young-lady-unaccompanied-minor-groped-on-flight/ Heads, walls, spikes...metaphorically of course. The pedo's for sure, and probably the crew for missing what is about the biggest red alert klaxon of a warning sign that this guy was a sicko. Traveling on a plane alone is something you need to prepare a kid for. That girl should have been screaming and swinging...her parents seem to have failed her there, IMO.
  2. How dialed in do you want to be out to 250? If close range (<50yds) is a higher priority, I'd be looking at red dots more than scopes.
  3. If OnTarget and Outpost Armory in Murfreesboro are sold out of AR's, we're in the middle of a panic buy I somehow can't see. There were plenty of AR's at OnTarget on Friday afternoon...though I'm not sure of the prices.
  4. This isn't a one side or the other poll, the questions were inside the national Quinnipiac poll that addressed a whole bunch of issues. They're a neutral arbiter in these things. Sampling is always the best you can get, and I think they made a good effort to get a wide cross section of opinion when they took this poll (it was from 2014). From June 24 - 30, Quinnipiac University surveyed 1,446 registered voters nationwide with a margin of error of +/- 2.6 percentage points. Live interviewers call land lines and cell phones. The Quinnipiac University Poll, directed by Douglas Schwartz, Ph.D., conducts public opinion surveys in Pennsylvania, New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Florida, Ohio, Virginia, Iowa, Colorado and the nation as a public service and for research. And if you look at the questions, the 90% figure is for background checks for all purchases, which a lot of people don't see as "gun control regulation," myself included to give you someone you know (well, internet know anyway) who supports it. The "stricter gun control" question was split 50/47/3 which is a tie with the margin of error included. This poll wasn't manipulated, it's the reporting on it that is questionable...ie: the media doesn't go in depth about the split on "stricter gun control."
  5. These aren't loaded questions... 58. Do you support or oppose stricter gun control laws in the United States? AGE IN YRS.............. 6. Whenever I hear it, it's in reference to the polling numbers that support universal background checks. http://thehill.com/blogs/blog-briefing-room/news/211321-poll-most-gun-owners-support-universal-background-checks
  7. I'm going to keep an eye out on the listings for more than just my tastes. Being able to pick up a pair of free tickets easy will make good gifts for birthdays, anniversaries, things like that.
  8. I can't recall exactly when, but once upon a time, the "is this real" question stopped being my first thought when it comes to government doing things like this.
  9. http://gawker.com/check-your-ticketmaster-account-you-probably-have-free-1782209001?utm_campaign=socialflow_gizmodo_facebook&utm_source=gizmodo_facebook&utm_medium=socialflow If you have a Ticketmaster account, log in and check it. I apparently have six discount codes, and six free ticket codes I can use before June 18th 2020 in the vouchers section on my account.
  10. Congrats on the purchase. Looking forward to helping you shoot it. A full mag of 7.62x39 will add some heft, but the AK series as a whole in stock configuration is pretty good weight wise with a nice balance. Are you buying all polymer mags, or getting any classic style ones?
  11. So goodbye to these things being affordable then!
  12. Now we're really going to start getting inpatient for them to arrive.
  13. Looks like the long shot came through! Glad to hear it.
  14. Colion is a great advocate for our side. He uses logic without being snarky about it, and he always seems very measured in what he says. His gun reviews are always worth a look as well.
  15. Maybe I'm just too used to online shopping, or trying to find that 'perfect' deal at a dedicated gun shop, but buying a top end AR at a place like Academy would never cross my mind. I've always looked at places like Academy, Walmart, Cabela's, as an option for a quick box of ammo, some cleaning supplies, or a small gun purchase.
  16. Anything potentially involving the FISA court has me shaking my head. The entire premise of a secret court where Judges serve as a rubber stamp anytime the words "national security" are used is disgusting.
  17. @MacGyver Does the admin team have access to IP addresses from user logins? That might shed some light on this guy.
  18. I have $2 that says this is someone trying to show how easy it is to buy a gun on the internet.
  19. Meh, call me when PSA or Primary Arms pull AR's from their inventory. Academy Sports has a lot more business to consider than just selling guns. I don't think I've ever been in one of their stores, but I'm not going to hold this against them in the future.
  20. Was it really so strong? They more or less got it over with once Trump became the presumptive nominee, wrapping it up into all the other events of the annual convention, and since then, they haven't been promoting Trump, but attacking Hillary. It felt like a "take your medicine" moment they were forced into when Cruz dropped out. It's clear that after the endorsement, there isn't going to be a public effort to support Trump, just attack Hillary. The official NRA Facebook feed has zero pro-Trump content, just anti-Hillary, and anti-liberal stuff since they endorsed him. Also, the post of their endorsement with the video has the NRA engaging with discontent members, and it's easy to see that Trump was the least bad option they had. I'd think if Cruz had won the nomination, they would be praising him to the sky and pointing out his record to justify it.
  21. Yes, really. With all the anti-Hillary work they will roll out, they can't let an election go by without an endorsement for someone against her. I have a feeling the Libertarian candidate wasn't a serious thought for the ILA...so, Trump by default.
  22. What were they going to do, not endorse the Republican nominee against Hillary? Their support, and the timing of it was as much about staying politically relevant as it was anything else. Normally I'm a proponent of being able to push a politician into doing the right thing with political pressure, which is where I'd say we are with Kasich now. Gun rights in Ohio improved under his watch as Governor, and if he did it just to please the voters, that works for me. But Trump isn't a normal politician, so I don't know if the same rules apply to him when it comes to the public keeping him in line on the issues. ETA: Trump may well have evolved on the issue in a genuine way...but he needs to be consistent for a while to make me think he's really pro-gun. Mandating that all Trump properties allow carry for those legally authorized to do so would be a start. http://abcnews.go.com/Politics/donald-trump-gun-free-zones-guns-allowed-properties/story?id=39266544
  23. Admittedly, I don't trust Trump with anything. I remain skeptical about someone with his track record of switching positions with the wind who only started talking the right way about guns once he wanted to get elected.
  24. So, I can type in all caps and you still won't be able to see?
  25. Between his becoming pro-gun lining up time wise with his presidential ambitions, and his willingness to "make deals," I would be worried about his willingness to compromise on gun rights. At least with Hillary, she isn't hiding it, and galvanizes support against her.
