  1. Yeah, I'm all about my Prime membership since I get so much from Amazon and use the streaming, but "Prime Day" was useless for me.
  2. A few pics of me doing the hearts and minds thing in 2002 and 2003 when I still had hair and clocked in at a reasonable weight.
  3. This wasn't during my time in, but it was from my old battalion during the deployment to Afghanistan they went on about a year after I got out of the Army.
  4. Same reason people have gym memberships, yet never work out...or pay for anything else they wanted, but use. Just felt like a good idea at the time, and simply didn't followed through. Lulz...that's good one.
  5. Nobody has guilt tripped him about open carry and being one of "those guys" yet? Maybe the pendulum has swung on this.

    H&K VP9

There are similarities between the Walther PPQ and P99 vs. the VP9 style when it comes to the mag release. They are both good, but H&K's is looser, and if you've seen that torture test video, weaker overall. The Walther one is tighter, and closer in line with the trigger guard, and when I got new magazines for my P99, harder to work, but that may just be a break them in thing. @XxthejuicexX when you're practicing with the mag release, try it with the middle finger of your firing hand, that works best for me. Do it in a place where you can let the magazine drop without worrying (carpeted floor or couch/chair) and watch how fast you can get with your mag changes.
  7. I was tempted to rush in an order with Silencer Shop, but having to pay for a vehicle of roughly equal cost has that option nixed. I'm just going to wait a bit to see how the dust settles and go from there in the future.
  8. I'd guess it covers both reasons...and I don't even buy it as legit under a "thanks for your service" area. Like you mentioned, just because they served doesn't mean they know anything about pistol shooting, or the laws with regards to carry and self-defense.

    H&K VP9

You'll wonder why more guns don't do it before long. After carrying a Walther P99, and now the VP9, I find standard mag releases cumbersome. I conceal my VP9 nearly everyday. Maybe it's because I'm a bigger guy than average, but I have no issues with it.
  10. A leader in every sense of the word. Her win-loss record was very impressive...her 100% graduation rate was even more impressive.
  11. This is probably where the line between casual gun owner, and, well...those like us here on TGO lies. Like you say, it's a life-style.
  12. Same stuff we're talking about in this thread: http://www.tngunowners.com/forums/topic/97396-90-of-americans/?page=1 Basically, it comes down to whether you believe background checks are "gun control." The media is spotty of defining it as such, and loves to tout that "90%" figure since it seems a better statistic, but the 50/47 answer is more telling about how divided the country is on guns.
  13. In that case... An AR. I'm going to use the limit of technicalities and count the lower receiver as my one gun, swapping my SBR and 16" uppers as needed. It's not cheating from your "one gun" guidelines since that's what the different uppers are used for. A .300BLK upper with a suppressor would be nice too, but since I don't have one yet, I'll limit myself to what I can grab from the closet and roll with at the moment.
  14. Probably a Glock 17 or 19. I originally thought some variant of an AR, but as was mentioned, can't conceal a rifle. Unless we're talking about a massive shift in society, a good pistol that will last a while is the best all around weapon if I'm limited to one, IMO.
  15. They may have guns, carry permits, and the like, but I would think that LBGT as a demographic are less likely to make carrying a daily habit like most of us here. At least that's the vibe I get from those I have conversations with.
  16. Very well written opinion piece. Many salient points all over. The Pink Pistols have seen their membership spike, and I hope it keeps growing. I'm sorry it had to be an event Orlando that gets the LBGT community to have a serious conversation about this, but hopefully it will come to something.
  17. Getting an HCP is one thing. It's a start, but also an end for a lot of people. Carrying everyday, everywhere you can, and caring about gun rights like we do is another matter entirely.
  18. If he was going to issue any more executive orders that meant anything, he would have done it by now. And even if he had anything left up his sleeve, he's also not going to do anything to steal the thunder of Hillary's campaign by making any real progress on an issue she'll campaign on.
  19. Which baffles me. If I were in Washington, I'd be making any background check bills tied into removing items from NFA laws, or getting rid of the $200 tax stamp, or other stuff.
  20. Aimpoint PRO is probably going on my next upper. I'm hard pressed to find another optic that can check every box it does at the current prices.
  21. BCBS had offers WAY below CIGNA and the others ones in the ACA Marketplace. Not sure if they were hoping people just didn't use the services like they did, or the .gov teat would subsidize their losses, but the rate increase request being this big seems to be them admitting their strategy the first few years didn't work out. More discussion here: http://www.tngunowners.com/forums/topic/91913-obamacare-rate-increase/?page=4
  22. I had a friend tell me it's a lot heavier than is optimal for an optic that size on an AR as well. Not sure if that's because it needed to be "rugged" or just the materials chosen.
  23. If I had to guess, the primary reason is because the court isn't at nine members, and that's not just for gun cases, since the court is taking cases at a slower pace overall recently. Secondary reasons could be waiting for the public debate to die down, as John Roberts doesn't want the court to take up an issue being debated in Congress. The case in the 4th Circuit about Maryland's ban could also be making him wait to see if there is a split in circuit opinions that would make taking the cases more of an interpretive, or two circuit rulings one way that don't justify taking a case absent certiorari .
  24. You guys are assuming there has to be registry to enforce this, but there doesn't. Using the 4473, where the background check has to be recorded, along with the serial number all the info is there, but doesn't need to be handed over to the government for a registry. That covers each purchase/transfer for 20 years, and still keeps it out of the governments hands unless an investigation is in progress. The gun owner should get a copy of the completed 4473 to have as well for their records to prove the gun was purchased/transferred after a background check.
  25. Universal background checks, and a National Gun Register Database are two separate issues. You don't have to have one to have the other. Also, I don't think most of us would be comfortable with how many Americans would say yes to that question either as you wrote it. Even I'm not 100% opposed to a registry, Though politically, I wouldn't agree to it without concessions elsewhere such as reducing the burden of the NFA process.
