  1. Yup. Good security measures don't always have to be an eyesore. Also worth considering is another layer between the front door and the guns. Kind of like how some UPS stores leave the front with the individual boxes open with a code for after hours, but put up a barrier to protect the rest of the store. Would be layout dependent, but prudent if doable.
  2. So...this isn't about meth, right?
  3. So...this isn't about meth, right?
  4. Yeah, that one went over my head.
  5. Checked mine out too giving my zip code and got better averages than I was expecting. Then in the plans, this one seems the most enticing if I have to get coverage from the marketplace instead of through an employer. Paying $193/month now...would jump up to what you see here.
  6. Was the PMAG and sales pitch the same store? Hyperbole as a sales pitch just irks me, and $30 per PMAG is just egregious. I can see a LGS or even some online retailers going as high as $15-$18 for profit margins, but when Primary Army still has the basic M2 MOE PMAG in stock for $9.99, that LGS or online retailer isn't supporting the community.
  7. Seems they're throwing anything they can whip together at the wall to see what sticks. I can't imagine venison being a fast food item of consistent quality.
  8. Ditto. It's just too perfect for my current work schedule. Throw everything in, turn it on, then come home to a fantastic smelling house with a hearty meal ready to go. This is my current favorite Crock-Pot meal(s). Takes all of five minutes to prep, with your crock pot doing all the work. Ingredients Needed to make 2x Man Size Servings 10.5oz can of condensed cream of chicken (I always use Campbell's) 1/2 can of salsa (or about a cups worth if you're a measurement Nazi) 1/2 packet of taco seasoning Up to 4x boneless skinless chicken breasts 1x large scoop of sour cream Cooking Instructions Place all of the ingredients except for the sour cream into the crock pot, and get it mixed up. Place the pot on low. When your chicken is cooked, and your cream of chicken mixes with the salsa, there should be a dark orange look to it. Mix in the sour cream, and the orange should start to brighten up. Turn off the heat if you like to let it cool, or serve it piping hot. The chicken will be fantastic. The salsa and seasoning you pick will determine the level of heat the overall meal has unless you want to add anything else to give it a kick. So if you like things spicy, get a really hot salsa. Goes well over white rice, or with any form of potato. A variation I like is to use only 2x chicken breasts, chopped up into small pieces before cooking, and serving it all as a soup with shredded cheese on top and tortilla chips as a lunch to tide me over before a big dinner.
  9. Probably would go to the courts. Seems the further back from inauguration day you go, the murkier things get once you back past a few key dates. https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/monkey-cage/wp/2016/09/14/what-happens-if-a-u-s-presidential-candidate-withdraws-or-dies-before-the-election-is-over/
  10. Essentially, yes. I think some people were burned by this in the primary with a few of the candidates dropping out if memory serves.
  11. Cool. If you want to mix it up a little, you can let the meat cook inside the pot with everything else. That's become my preferred method. Saves me a step and some cleanup, plus some people swear it helps with flavoring. Ehh, all things in moderation, lol. In all seriousness, since I have hypertension, I do keep an active watch on the sodium content of things without getting too crazy. I try to use fresh or low sodium ingredients whenever possible, such as just chopping up a tomato instead of using a canned alternate. From that alone, you can cut a few hundred mg's of sodium down to about half a dozen. I also don't put salt on very much, and when I do, it's just a wee bit. I use more black pepper and spices to bring up a flavor as a substitute. Calories however...that's a sometimes it's a little, sometimes it's a lot kind of thing.
  12. How long do you let it all cook? And in a pot or slow cooker?
  13. I think this can be a fun and informative thread thread if we keep it going. Basically, post a pic of what you cooked/prepared for yourself or your family...either a meal or a snack so good you have to share. That way, if someone likes what they see, they can ask for the recipe, or preparation tips. I'll kick things off with what I made for supper tonight: Grilled steak (charcoal, not gas)- marinated with Italian dressing for 8 hours, cooked somewhere between medium/medium well Honey gold potatoes- half cooked in a boiling pot, then sauteed to finish with olive oil, pressed garlic, butter, and cracked pepper Romaine salad with Mexican cheese blend Small/med amount of Italian dressing drizzled over everything
  14. Site is working pretty good from my side here. Thanks for all the effort to keep things humming.
  15. Those men deserved better than to die so we could provide a "presence" without any strategic forethought. Even sadder is the lesson their loss bought seems to have been missed in the years since. Our country is a better place because they stood watch when called upon. I hope the years since have brought a sense of peace to their friends and family.

    Cubs!

If the Cubs can win, Theo Epstein should be in the Hall of Fame under whatever categories general managers go in under. Doing what he has to build championship teams in Boston and now possibly Chicago is a crazy consistent job.
  17. The Titans or Predators need to get this guy to come to town...hell, a pro league should put him on an arena or stadium tour. Amazing dual artistic skills.
  18. Not necessarily true. http://www.breitbart.com/big-hollywood/2016/06/18/x-celebrities-love-guns/ Add to this list Clint Eastwood who while isn't acting much these days, has become one of the most respected directors in Hollywood by artists, critics, and fans alike.
  19. Also helps me track and control spending easier. The amount every 10 days goes into a spreadsheet, and if I see anything out of norms without a reason (car repair, insurance, ect..) then I look into what I was doing to spend that much.
  20. Small, but maybe telling bit of minutia from BCBS. Paying my premium the other month, I see they aren't taking credit card payments online, and I have to call a number. After doing it again this month, I get curious. So, I poke around a bit. Their official excuse is "the rise in credit card processing fees" and wanting to "keep operational costs under control." I'm calling BS. If the cost of processing fees is adding up, disclose the amount and add it to my bill if I choose that option. I've never seen it be more than a few bucks with the other places that pass along that cost. What I really think is happening is BCBS wants everyone's checking account accessible so they can reach into them during a pinch. They're pushing automatic payments a lot, which I always see as the company making sure they get their money from people who can only pay so many accounts per month, because the bank will cover the amount in the negative, and charge an overdraft fee if needs be. With a credit card, it's a lot easier to dispute a charge and get it taken care of in your favor. That and not wanting my bank account info in someone else's database is why I like using my credit card for all my payments. I just pay my card off 2-3 times a month to avoid interest charges. Maybe I'm just being paranoid.
  21. Annual issue. Introduced in committee, legislative tricks used to kill it with some version of plausible deniability. Hard to find money and candidates in state rep races to challenge the entrenched ones, and it's not like the Republican supermajority is worried about anyone voting Democrat in the general, so no pressure to deliver on certain issues.
  22. I know I've seen Revolvers at Mid Tenn's Pawn & Loan.
  23. Oy vey...you just opened the can of worms marked "best distance to zero a 5.56 long gun."
  24. Yes, sling hardware is overpriced, at least in the cost/benefit analysis as I see it. Take that basic $10 sling, use some parachute cord and attach it to the sling mount under the FSP and you have the same effect of a QD swivel. Want it of? It takes all of three extra seconds to unfasten the sling if you want to remove it. Though aside from cleaning, I have a hard time seeing why you'd need to. I think the regular sling is good to go for more than shooting wabbits. You can use it for stability in most shooting positions. It's also practical for carrying in the front with the sling over the shooting shoulder and under the support arm. I carried my M4 with that same style sling in Iraq and Afghanistan and actually preferred it over all the taticool slings that were saturating the market...though I admit that the Vickers BFG and VTAC types hadn't come out yet, and those are pretty good (though I'd say people are shelling out for for "Vickers" on the BFG). With the panic about to hit, a good bit of ammo and/or a spare parts kit would be a far better investment. Regardless, I think the sling is one of the last pieces of kit someone should be overthinking about with their first AR. Get good at putting rounds on target, find the sights/optic you want, and then you can overpay for a sling you'll barely use.
