Pan cooked lamb chops (cooked to medium) and a side salad.

Great to see you're well enough to be back at home, Bersa!

Charging Handles...how much to pay.

^^^What he said^^^ As much as I debated getting the Raptor ambidextrous, I'd get another if I had an AR that would benefit from it. I think they're great for defensive rifles, though I'll admit the price to usefulness comparison drops for target shooting rifles. -
Necessary is the favorite euphemism for unconstitutional when it comes to matters of safety and security. I'm all for police exercising their lawful authority...but the lawful part must always come before the authority.

Been waiting since I moved in to see this view with snow.

Condolences to his family and friends. Hope they remember the good times to offset the feelings of loss. Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk. OhShoot very much likes to know when we're using Tapatalk.

Nothing salient to share about the area, sorry. You're already well ahead in thought by contacting the Provost Marshall. Just wanted to say congrats to your son for stepping up to serve. Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk. OhShoot very much likes to know when we're using Tapatalk.

+1 for Vanguard. I've had the vast majority of my investments with them for five years now, and I'm a happy customer. I have mutual funds and a Roth IRA through their funds, and they do quite well. Their brokerage account is a little higher than average on commissions at $7.95 for a trade, but I mainly use it to buy blue chip stocks that pay good dividends.

Bersa is as tough as they come. Hoping for the best. Thanks for keeping us updated, MacGyver.

Parrothead, in your situation, the things someone on site would need to work on with a casualty would be breathing (the nasopharyngeal airway), controlling bleeding (tourniquet, gauze, and bandages/dressings), and preventing hypothermia (core body temp drops fast when enough blood is lost). The third item is what I'm missing kit for right now, but I live in urban areas with medical attention and hospitals abound, so it's less of a risk (still a big one, though) for me. As for training, I'm not spun up at all on any in the area. TGODavid mentioned medical classes in his 2018 goals, and I think that's something that anyone would benefit from. I could sure use a refresher. If anyone hears of any, chime in and share so we can all check our calenders. Here's hoping I never have to use any of this... The bag is a Husky 12" Document Bag from Home Depot. Quite rugged enough, and as you can see, holds a good bit. https://www.homedepot.com/p/Husky-12-in-Document-Bag-82012N11/203224009 From left to right, top to bottom: *H-Bandage Compression Dressing (Flat Folded) *Big Cinch Large Compression Dressing Asherman Chest Seal CAT (slightly off camera, sorry) Gloves Nasopharyngeal Airway w/lube *PriMed Compressed Gauze (x2) Israeli Pressure Dressing EMT Shears A great site (and source of items marked with a *) for those looking to get medical kit without breaking the bank: https://buyhandh.com/

Mid Tenn Pawn in Murfreesboro surprised me by only charging one fee a few years back when I had a GSG-522 and a stripped AR lower come in at the same time. Between that and how friendly the people were, they got every transfer after that while I lived there. Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk. OhShoot very much likes to know when we're using Tapatalk.

You're assuming that the reestablished value of silver is within the prior value of silver to still be of use, or well above it. Not sure how wide a gambit you see SHTF, but a new order economy, not tied to precious metals at all could emerge. In a bid to hasten up firm control over economics, the powers that be could chose to ignore a structured trade price for silver and gold, instead only allowing legal status to the currency they mint/print for better control over what would be a fragile at best economy reasserting itself.

What guns, gear or training are in your crosshairs for 2018?
btq96r replied to TGO David's topic in General Chat
I want to get back to a semi-regular range schedule. 2017 was a massively hectic year for me...stepping into a new job, having to learn the industry I entered from scratch and put in the hours to get myself up to speed and do the work. I just need to make the time now that I understand the demand on my person. With that, I want to shoot pistol over rifle by about 2/1 ratio. Long guns are fun, and very relaxing for me, but a pistol is more likely to be in my hands in a bad situation, so I need to allocate my training time accordingly. This is a great one for anyone with the time. First response medicine is a never ending subject for sure, but any training in it is beneficial, and the advances they keep making in material and technique are amazing. -
Mechanically, a few mags is sound to know if you've got one that needs to go back to the factory or not. Realistically, if I'm at the range, a box of 50-100 rounds is pretty much guaranteed to take advantage of the time spent on the trip there and just get a good feel for the new gun. Ideal, the more rounds for proficiency the better before I'm carrying it with the potential to use it in a life or death situation. I've only ever carried three different pistols for self-defense, and I tend to wear grooves into muscle memory. So, on the rare occasion I change it up, I want to make sure I'm committed to the change in all respects if that makes sense.

I think the gun is the ugliest thing in the ad.
-
I'm round in the middle too, but putting one foot in front of the other for a mile or four with 20-30lbs of survival kit should be on the checklist for anyone.
-
Hope you have a section about keeping in some level of fitness. People don't need to be athlete level of in shape, but all the preparedness in the world is for naught if you can't carry your bug out bag without keeling over after a few miles.

Hoping all celebrating have a Happy Christmas with their family and friends.

Same. Bersa's are solid firearms, but they're still a bit of a niche brand among dedicated shooters that hasn't gotten into the mainstream. Same could be said for the CZ line.

The whole post with it's history to modern day synopsis was in the 10-ring, but this part is the biggest take away. I like to challenge someone when they have a law or policy they'd like to see in place- what would happen if the other side had access to the changes you're seeking? Well, if ISP's don't have some restraint on them from government oversight, what is listed above could very well become reality.

Narcos or Godless. Still need to hit season 3 of Narcos myself, and I've heard all good things about Godless. Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk. OhShoot very much likes to know when we're using Tapatalk.

I do both target and "combat" shooting. The former is to develop muscle memory on grip and trigger squeeze that I notice transfers over to the later. Aiming- as a deliberate thought- is quite lost in the combat shooting practice until I realize such. But I don't count on noticing it if I'm ever using my pistol in a real life situation, as I would hope my focus would be on determining if the target is no longer a threat or not. I'm of a mind that the close range of such an event means the point instinct @DaveTN describes is enough. If people are wondering which one is better...stop thinking and go practice. Developing good pistol shooting requires thousands upon thousands of rounds with evaluation (self, peer, or instructor) all along the way. I still have many thousands more until I consider myself more than decent.

Decided to treat myself on a random Wednesday. Not too shabby with just a chunk of meat, a pan, and a stove. Potatoes may look bland, but they have fresh pressed garlic and fresh grated parmesan cheese mixed in.
