Ever since Eastwood got serious about the directing gig, he's produced a very high quality film time after time. I'm thinking this one will be in that category.

Honestly, the NFA process, while lengthy and somewhat costly, is far better than this equivocating we see on what a brace is and how it can be used. I have an SBR and I can use it for any lawful purpose. No what if's, finding the most current memo, or any other finger in the air barometer needed.

I guess my own father turning 70 and having a lot of empty time in the house while my stepmother works has met thinking about people's motives when they come post like we saw. The guys profile said he was retired, and who knows how much of all this was just reaching out for someone to talk to as a way to pass the time. Somehow he didn't strike me as the breakfast and golf to fill the first half of the day type. Or he was a legit forum troll...his username just happened to the name of a sniper in a video game. http://sniperelitegame.wikia.com/wiki/Karl_Fairburne

At least we knew what he thought about liberals. He had that refrain singing as often as Cato the Elder told the Roman Senate his thoughts on Carthage needing to be destroyed.

I hope people are heading this sage advice. Especially for spare parts and magazines.

Walther P99 in .40S&W. Bought it with some saved up deployment money after coming home from Iraq in early 2004. In hindsight, I wish I'd gotten the 9mm version, but still love this gun 14 years later, even if it doesn't see daily carry use, or as much range time as it used to. I've thought about selling it a few times for a quick buck, but sentimentality prevents me from doing so.

Without weighing in on if this officer was right or wrong...in a country where being armed is (supposed to) be a protected right, think about the downstream consequences of assuming a weapon is gives police the automatic authority to assume a "significant threat" as that term is viewed by a police officer.

I'll take this 16" BCM Mid-Length in 5.56mm, and be confident it could last me until my last day if taken care of properly. http://shop.bravocompanymfg.com/Bravo-Company-MFG-BCM-MID-16-Mod-2-AR15-Carbine-p/bcm-carbine-750-133.htm

What was the ISP that you were using, and what ones are available in your new area? The answer is probably going to be "yes, they can do this", but it's good to get all the information out. The government could get out of the way, but too much money to allow that. Even a less than stellar option provided by the electric company would have the effect of keeping Comcast and AT&T competitive in the area.

Not hourly....but sometimes per procedure, or for taking overnight call, or just a double shift for two days worth of pay. Also see doctors in our practice who sell vacation time and work for whoever bought it. All from those still paying off medical school loans, and/or those who want to fund a lifestyle or investments to keep that lifestyle in retirement. Now, cops on a middle class income are different, but don't think raising their pay won't solve the manning issues forcing extra shifts or the motivation to take them.
-
Maybe, maybe not. I'd imagine at any income level, the chance to earn more is a strong enough motivator to make people put in a lot of overtime hours. I see it often enough with the physicians I work with at my job, and they're making a hell of a lot more than cops.

You don't need to have an app on Google Play to get it for Android OS. The gun community needs to embrace tech geeks (or at least subcontract them) and become independent in getting their software to consumers. Gun Broker can hire a developer to tweak the app (shouldn't require much) and hang it on their website as a downloadable APK file. All someone would have to do is enable installation of third party apps on their device and click through the install process. The app can be configured to search for new versions on its own and prompt the user for an update (or set to automatically happen).

This would just simplify the process for me. Whenever my goddaughters tell me it's that time again, I just give them some money and tell them to enjoy whatever I bought.

A big win for Defense Distributed!

Yup. I didn't say it made sense...they just want to write a book to throw at someone when the mood strikes. -

This is just the first step in eventually making possession of the files criminal. Same as possessing bootleg copyrighted material...only they get to spin it as a threat to society rather than someone downloading music or a movie. Boiling frog, 1k cuts, ect. Has to start somewhere. -
Internet winner for the day right here, folks.

Does Tennessee need a Soccer team and new stadium??
btq96r replied to bersaguy's topic in General Chat
Someone once asked me the old question, "if you could have anything you want, what would it be?" I answered, "a professional sports team. That way I can have everything I want." I'm at a loss to think of a way to make money faster outside of owning a Federal Reserve printing press. Nashville doesn't need a soccer team. But sports teams are long term investments for the community at their core, so you need to look at this long term like any other business opportunity. Whether a soccer team is sustainable is a matter of debate. MLS isn't a business model I know enough about, but I plan to brush up on it. I hope Metro has someone who has done the same well before it came up for a vote. The team could use Nissan stadium, or even First Tennessee park long term (and they have been using both in the interim). But then the team doesn't get additional revenues from other events at the stadium, and that's a big reason to be in the sports ownership business, so unless the owners of the Sounds or TItans want to buy the team, those places aren't the long term solution. Problem is, if the city puts up money, it's probably a grant, or at best, repaid with little interest. Pretty good terms for a solid loan from what amounts to Taxpayers Credit Union of Nashville. If the team wants to own the stadium, they should have to pay for it outright, or the local government should be able to profit on a loan on or about the same rate as a bank would. If they don't like the terms, let them hit up a real bank and have to go through a real risk analysis of their proforma. If the city pays for the whole thing, they should own stadium. They can lease it to the team for a bargain as primary occupants, but the city should make the profit on everything after that. Too often the team owns the stadium, even after the city contributes significant tax revenue to help construct it, yet the city only sees the incidental revenue from events (sales tax, occupancy tax, ect), not the net profit after event expenses. -
The real busy season I've noticed is tax season. Apparently some people need to create liquidity around early April.

The Squared Away Custom option @prag linked looks solid, and @TGO David isn't known for blowing his money on anything wasteful aside from well done steaks, so I'd find it hard to believe it's not good gear. Another option is below...small veteran owned company who isn't a big manufacturer, just focused on quality. I don't own one, but enough guys on another site I frequent are, and they give him glowing reviews. https://2aholster.com/product/iwb-soft-side-iwb/?v=7516fd43adaa

^ This ^ Being a benefactor of TGO is worth it even if I'd never been able to buy/sell or do so again in the future.

Complaints are usually in some ratio to customers...so that explains the zero numerator.

I'm glad for once that the "show" part of this sub-forum isn't a factor in a thread.
