  1. Ehh, it's January.
  2. CZ is showing the gun industry what right looks like. They're killing it as of late.
  3. This case opened the way for states to be press the issue. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/South_Dakota_v._Wayfair,_Inc.
  4. I'd open the gas some more before swapping out the buffer. I use Spikes ST-T2 buffer in my 10.5" SBR, and also have adjustable gas like you do, I just leave it a bit open so I can shoot 55gr and 62gr ammo without any changes and I've never had an issue with it. I'm less worried about that unicorn of sweet spot, and just away from the spectrum of overgassed.
  5. I'm sure it would be fun to shoot, if not prohibitively expensive...but it just seems a more AR'd version of when the military gave units some kitted out M14s for longer reach and punch within a platoon. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mk_14_Enhanced_Battle_Rifle Still, some (semi) fresh thinking in the current times is a good thing. We need more outside the box thinking if a company can afford to take a risk in design.
  6. Hoping for the best, Fourtyfive. F**k Cancer.
  7. Maybe if it changed colors from safe to fire....but yeah, pretty unnecessary if you're used to tactile feedback when handling an AR.
  8. Fixed. Guess mobile uploading had some issues.
  9. I always just put the gun into the little basket my drawers make while doing my business. Kind of impossible to not get a reminder it's there if I somehow forget while pulling my pants up.
  10. Saw this at the grocery store tonight and realized it's probably where the original post comes from.
  11. If it's accurate, I'm guessing the post Civil War aftermath in what was a massive battlefield, and cities that had been under Union occupation for a few years had a good bit to do with it. Nashville was a mad house of crime in the occupation years for a variety of reasons, and I'm sure those enterprises didn't depart the city just because the war ended.
  12. Yeah. Bags can still be subject to search in my mind, but a permit means your gun is good to go.
  13. And I'm A-OK with that. I'm still of a mind that the metal detectors at entry checkpoints and officers in the building for security stay, and keep those without permits from bringing in weapons. I just want my carry permit to be honored by the state that gave it to me inside government buildings.
  14. Not saying that we need to go to the mattresses over it, but philosophically, I think gun carry in the state capital is the litmus test. To me, it's the easiest question to see if a politician respects the rights of the people to be armed, or something only to be tolerated at a distance, and behind a wall of security. I have to get permission by the state to carry a pistol outside of my home and vehicle and range time, or else doing so meant I was breaking the law. The state ran a background check on me, and forced me to attend a mandated training program before pronouncing me safe to carry in public. But even with their required system, I still can't carry my weapon in a building that the public pays for, and is there for the purpose of the people's business by the representatives and officials we elect. Really, there is nowhere more symbolic to be able to exercise the rights of the 2nd Amendment than the power halls of the government that amendment ensures we can protect ourselves against. Banning guns from the capital is the ultimate protection of the ruling class from the proletarian, meaning the carry permit is just an appeasement method for whenever they don't have to deal with us. In essence, they've made a giant safe space for themselves, but it's a physical one, not an emotional variant. At best, it's a infringement of liberty...at worst, it's a way to secure a base of power. It's a simple question to me of if the government really believes in the principles of the 2nd Amendment, or just pays lip service to it for votes. We either have an ally on our side or just another person we're negotiating with.
  15. Not for nothing, but politicians have different responses to where a message is conveyed to them (public or private). An organization trying to establish itself as an opposition to something that doesn't yet exist forces Gov. Lee to disregard them at the least, and more likely keep a wary eye on him, lest he be seen as weak out of the gate. They should have asked for 20 min on his calendar to introduce themselves, and summarize their agenda before spinning up the fear mill.
  16. I have a hard time believing there is 3x the performance enhancement to match the 3x price difference.
  17. You think people are getting hit by the crossfire of a drive-by at the downtown Westin or something?
  18. Seeing someone willing to stand up and take to the streets is a good thing. For as much as we make fun of the French, they still have passions about how far their government is willing to push them on some issues, and I'm of a mind that think we need some more of that here, minus the anarchy. The yellow vest protesters are doing more than rage posting on social media, and that's to be applauded. Let's just hope the "national razor" as I've heard it called isn't needed.
  19. That makes sense.
  20. I didn't want the NRA to endorse a democratic candidate, so try not to construe such intent from my words. Bernie might have been the only palatable option, but that was before he had to tack all positions left, not just his economic theme. Once he crossed that Rubicon, he didn't deserve any endorsement. What I do want, is for the RKBA organizations to not tie themselves to a single party. When they do that, they run the risk of becoming effectively complacent as the politicians they stuck themselves with by default. Republicans have zero incentive to actually do anything on guns, because they know for a single issue voter on the topic, their lack of action is better than the Democrats want of action in the wrong direction...so nothing actually gets better, we just become falsely satisfied with "it could have been worse." Seriously, we had two years of express lane open for whatever could have been passed, with the presumption that a pro-gun court is in place for about a generation, but all we got was agency level work to take away bump stocks. That's like having a savings account with 0.25% interest when inflation is running 3%.
  21. That's a nice spin, but realistically, the NRA has all but embedded itself as a subset of the Republican party. There was no way they would ever support a Democrat, let alone Hillary, and they made the calculation that the faster they put themselves in Trump's orbit once was the presumptive nominee, the bigger influence they might have in a potential Trump administration.
  22. If you didn't have any changes in dependent status? That seems way too high for a refund. Makes me wonder if your employer adjusted how much was withheld after tax reform was passed. I remember my first paycheck was a copy of 2017 from income tax withholding, but once the systems were updated with the new tax changes, I saw the surplus hitting my paychecks. My *all things money* spreadsheet shows I'll get refund of less than $100. After I tally up investment dividends and capital gains, I'll end up owing. That's the way I like it, not giving the government an interest free loan.
  23. Most of this thread is an inverse of how kids feel when older people just don't get technology. Honestly, the kids are going to be fine. What's more of a life skill these days, understanding an app's user interface or knowing how to work a rotary telephone?
  24. "What is past is past. never go back. Not for excuses. Not for justification, not for happiness. You are what you are, the world is what it is." “A hundred times every day I remind myself that my inner and outer life depend on the labors of other men, living and dead, and that I must exert myself in order to give in the same measure as I have received." "Uniform, discipline, attitude." That last one won't show up on Google as it was advice from my father as I left home to go into the army. He said if I had those three things in order I'd be good to go in the service. I've kept it going well past my discharge as it's sage advice on life itself.
  25. This is why I feel that Trump wants the issue more than the win. If he was serious about getting the wall, he has to know this is something he has to trade for. The fact that there are no hints of a concession on another topic tells me he's not as serious as he lets on...and why not, he's based a lot of his short political career on calling for the wall, so what would come next?
