My condolences to you and your family. Hoping the day where her memory is a smile and not a tear comes sooner rather than later.

Not against 2-stage, just think they have a proper place. I use a 2-stage SD-E in my scoped 16" AR, and a single-stage SD-3G in my 10.5" SBR with an EoTech. Different systems for different roles; barrel, optic, trigger all tailored to use. How's the reset on the LaRue? I'm thinking of swapping the SD-3G because of the super short reset (it's a bit too short as I spent time with it), and this looks like it might be a single stage winner.

Every Democrat is throwing anything out there to see what sticks...so a big yawn from me. They each need to 1) qualify for the debates, and 2) keep their name in the news to attract fundraising. We're going to see a real race to stupid (more so than already) as they fight for debate time and money. Not until after probably South Carolina will whoever is left try to ease off some and re-tack center left to prep for the general.

This is why large organizations get a C-Suite and a Board of Directors. A good board will keep the executive team in check, or reign them in as needed. Sometimes both elements go off the rails, but WLP could and should have been reigned in by effective oversight well before it got to this. I'm just not clear if they were unwilling or unable to do so since I admittedly don't know how much the NRA board gets into things.

Using a "money is like drugs in various forms" analogy, some senior members of the NRA are at full junkie status. Making a lot in salary is like weed...feels good, tends to become a lifestyle enhancer, an individual may or may not be sated based on their personality. Making a lot of salary, and being able to decrease your taxable income by running expenses that brush legitimacy through a corporation is like cocaine...much more of a rush than weed, but leaves you wanting more. Making a lot of salary, and having personal expenses taken care of (or at the least a lifestyle funded) in a way that never even hits your income before expense reduction or equalization...that's the heroin right there, and you're always after the perpetual high. Going back to a mundane life of the first two options, no matter how much better you have it than the small-folk, is to be avoided like the plague. No surprise to me that WLP is ready to go to the mattresses to keep his status and what it enables. Wouldn't bat an eye if call girls are brought up before it's all said and done...certainly it's about the only routine thing left in a situation like this. I will concede that the NRA needs to pay some folks a high salary. For those living in the DC Metro area alone, you need to pay commensurate to the market. For top level people, you need to pay them in the ballpark for their sector of work, though working for a cause like the NRA should count for something (you would think). But that only enables the weed stage as described above...the NRA has ventured far into cocaine and heroin, and that's going to take a lot of institutional willpower if they want to take the road to recovery. NY State may throw them in a metaphorical detox before they get to that point, however. Having bashed the NRA for their behavior, I'm not really shocked at this because it was always about the money to me. But just how fast and loose they are playing things is a bit surprising. I expected the usual stuff like using an expense policy to fund vacations, generous vehicle mileage, or even organization vehicles assigned, things that you are far more likely to sign off on when it's not your money at stake. Seems there isn't even a modicum of adherence to some guiding rules for their own protection. I mean, seriously...paying the President of the organization through the PR firm is flabbergasting. Non-profits are always going to be under a microscope with financial accounting, and that's a good thing. If they didn't see this day coming, they were idiots. This isn't a private partnership taking expenses at the depletion of their own payouts, it's a non-profit using money raised from the public because [INSERT BOOGEYMAN HERE] is coming for your guns.

I'm a convert on the flat bow triggers from Geissele, but I may have to pick up one of the new flat triggers from Larue on general purpose. I wish they made it in single stage...but that's just me being picky. https://www.larue.com/products/larue-tactical-mbt-2s-straight-bow-trigger/

Now that they "did something" I expect they'll be resting on their laurels with regards to gun rights for a bit.

I'm with you. I've never gotten the love for the stainless steel on an AR. I know it's purely an aesthetic thing, but they're not for me.

Just shows how much money and power is at stake in my mind. This is a mud fight that's going far beyond hubris making someone stay on the train despite it being at their stop.

Law Enforcement is within the executive branch at various levels of government. The only police like officials in the judicial branch would be balliff's or a local equivalent, and their authority is usually resigned to the courthouse or transporting defendants or the convicted.

A tradition unlike any other.

Yeah...if this is the nicer looking version, the original has to be ugly as sin. But like you said...if it works, cool.

@Fourtyfive, I grieve with thee.

Thankful that we had such men when needed. A life well lived, Mr. Cole. Thank you for everything you gave for others.

Hoping this time of sadness can help rally your family closer together if nothing else.

The replies are pro forma, and each Congressman or Senator uses part of their office budget to reply to inquiries. They're handled by low level staffers, or even interns, even if it gets an autopen signature. You could have asked anything about the 2nd Amendment, and you would have gotten the same reply.

Blackburn is a hack, hence the template reply...but she's a Republican hack, so she's not going to take any position that's anti-gun unless the mood of the party is different from the norm, such as it was with the bump stock ban.

Did the same a while back, myself. Quick and easy to make happen.

Mayhaps it's time for the Nashville area TGO'ers to do a meet-up at one of the BBQ or Hot Chicken places.
-
BBQ: Edley's, Martin's Pizza: Pastaria, Mafiaoza's Hot Chicken: Hattie B's is damn good, and their pimento Mac n' Cheese is the tits. Recommend ordering online if you want to skip the wait line with all the tourists.

Bumping this up to remind everyone that supporting this site actually costs money. But look at what we get, a place to argue about everything, and a nifty index of self-help threads when it comes times to renew. If you're not a benefactor, please consider becoming one, it's well worth the cost to keep this place humming. Also, @TGO David, for some reason, it processed my payment with my old address after declining it twice (didn't see where I could update my address). If it becomes an issue, or my bank cancels the transaction, just let me know how to fix it and I'll get the bill re-payed.

Posting a link for the near exclusive purpose of posting a link isn't much of a value add to the forum. For the most part, we're all pretty cognizant of how to stay informed, and don't confine ourselves to the "liberal media"- whatever the definition of that is for the week- to keep up with events. Posting a link and getting a conversation started by offering a perspective, or thought unexpressed in the article is a different story, and one of the reasons I like to stick around. What I think Garfua was getting at, though he's quite at liberty to correct me if I'm wrong, is some variation of that. This being a discussion site, we should discuss things and have some great debates, not just post links and like them a la Facebook before we move onto the next shiny thing. We've got some well thought folks on the board, so it kind of pains me to think we could devolve into what you see elsewhere in social media if we're not keeping ourselves intellectually honest. That's just my take, and since I'm not a moderator, the take and $1.10 will only get you a large coke or tea at McDonald's...grain of salt included at no extra charge.

Hoping for a speedy and complete recovery.

Not surprised in the least. It is after all the CT Supreme Court, with judges nominated by the CT Governor, and confirmed by the CT legislature. If you were waiting for freedom to prevail, you're in a worse spot than Charlie Brown lining up to kick a football being held by Lucy. I dunno...they're doing a good job keeping us fat, lazy, economically fragile (ie: how many paychecks can someone miss before it's a cash flow problem), and other measures to induce apathy. Taking guns may not be as needed in the master plan, after all, they've already gotten this far in where society is.

I hope those that are convicted of a crime get what they deserve. I also hope to see the finite resources of federal law enforcement prioritized a bit more usefully going forward.
