Eforms down until re-solutioned!!!
btq96r replied to LawEnforcementSalesTN's topic in National Firearms Act (NFA) Regulated
Same here, hope the software can handle what is bound to be a helluva rush of submissions. -
A bill of sale should cover you legally in a face to face transaction, I'd imagine. Unless you suspect that someone isn't eligible to own a firearm, ask them to show you a drivers license or carry permit to verify they are a TN resident, then have them sign a bill of sale that lists the firearm with manufacturer, model and serial number. Keep it in the filing cabinet as a just in case. If someone is unwilling to take those two simple steps, I'd question the sale to them in the first place.

I just played around with this code on the side, and it does take $400 off the MK18...amazing that you can buy one of, if not the best, SBR's out there for under $1,500 complete. The downside is they only have the brown one, not the black one.

Mourning the loss of one of our own. Hunter Harris.
btq96r replied to TGO David's topic in General Chat
My condolences to all of you who knew Hunter. He sounded like a helluva guy based on the words you have in praise of him. Agree with all that 37 is too early for it all to end. -
How is this "proof that O is tied with the islamists"? If we're hoping to keep Iraq intact as the borders legally stand now, any democratic government has to inclulde and address the needs of the Sunni minority. Even as a minority, they're too big to ignore or suppress unless the Shia were willing to keep them under heel like Saddam kept the Shia at bay. Likewise with the Kurds. I wouldn't be willing to bomb anybody on behalf of al-Malaki's government as it is today. For my money, the only group worth U.S. intervention to support over there are the Kurds.

Not for nothing, but I wouldn't depend on Israel to do anything for us "just because." Their interests and ours don't always align and they are not opposed to doing things that we disagree with or things that could be considered breaches of our alliance with them. They will spy on us without shame (we do it too admittedly) and will sell to China the mil tech we share with them to maintain their quantitative military edge over any other state in the region. I wouldn't depend on them for anything critical and would treat them with an entire shaker of salt in dealings. As far as the current mess in Iraq goes, this is all on Nouri al-Malaki. He openly went after Sunni members of the government (Vice President, Finance MInister) and pretty much refused to integrate Sunni interests into the political process of Iraq. He's reaping what he sowed in the traditional style of the Middle East; through violent action. The only way to avoid this would have been to keep tens of thousands of our troops in Iraq for at least a generation or two, and that just isn't worth it to me. At this point, breaking up Iraq into three states (Sunni, Shia and Kurdish) may be the best option for stability. I'd support it for a Kurdish region tomorrow and give a hard look at two other states popping up form new Sunni and Shia countries, even knowing the Shia one would be under de-facto Iranian control by the end of the week.

Well, if you ever wanted to give it a trial run, let me know and I'd be willing to donate time to help out in a few of the forums. Thanks for the reply.

Great post. Thanks for sharing. If I wasn't flush with USGI mags and trying to watch how much goes out for gun stuff at the moment, I'd get these in a heartbeat. I'll bookmark the site and check back, though.

This may be the most realistic assessment of the entire mess. The Kurds should seize this chance, it might not come again soon.

Does the software TGO uses have the ability to merge threads? I've noticed a lot of topics where new threads are started when one about that topic is already running. Confuses me on which thread to join in the discussion on. I'd be willing to help out if the Admins need some support on the digital housekeeping.

The latter, I'm sure. Profiteering of grief & fear are classic American business practices. Whenever "it's for the children" or the keywords terrorism, security, crime or any combo thereof become the theme...hold onto your wallet. Tax dollars are being solicited by some company with a solution to what is probably an exaggerated problem at best.

For a minute there, I was cursing their $50 order minimum. Then I practiced the ancient art of Google-Fu and found this on another site: TW-1-Alice-Buckle-Strap-Adjuster. It's exactly the last piece I was looking for. For those of you who have had an ALICE pack before, you know these strap adjusters are solid and can hold up against the strain from 100lbs of the lightest gear ever invented. 1" materials may make the sling a little on the thin side, but I'd rather it be too thin than too wide. Thanks for getting me going on finding the last item.

Nothing in the agreement should say you have to have the VOIP phone on or even hooked up, just included in the package for billing purposes.

I check my bills from Comcast and other service provides like I go line by line over my tax returns. The second I see something that doesn't jive with what I think I'm on the phone and waiting for my call to be taken. These companies can be crooks if you aren't careful.

‘Open Carry’ Gun Fight Moves to Target Stores
btq96r replied to JohnC's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
A better protest would be some good old fashioned civil disobedience. They they should gather en masse, make their handguns visible and see if they police are willing to arrest 100+ people at a time for going on a group walk with pistols on their hips or in shoulder holsters. Here's the law as it stands in Texas. Sec. 46.02. UNLAWFUL CARRYING WEAPONS. (a) A person commits an offense if the person intentionally, knowingly, or recklessly carries on or about his or her person a handgun, illegal knife, or club if the person is not: (1) on the person's own premises or premises under the person's control; or (2) inside of or directly en route to a motor vehicle or watercraft that is owned by the person or under the person's control. (a-1) A person commits an offense if the person intentionally, knowingly, or recklessly carries on or about his or her person a handgun in a motor vehicle or watercraft that is owned by the person or under the person's control at any time in which: (1) the handgun is in plain view; or (2) the person is: (A) engaged in criminal activity, other than a Class C misdemeanor that is a violation of a law or ordinance regulating traffic or boating; ( B) prohibited by law from possessing a firearm; or (C) a member of a criminal street gang, as defined by Section 71.01. (a-2) For purposes of this section, "premises" includes real property and a recreational vehicle that is being used as living quarters, regardless of whether that use is temporary or permanent. In this subsection, "recreational vehicle" means a motor vehicle primarily designed as temporary living quarters or a vehicle that contains temporary living quarters and is designed to be towed by a motor vehicle. The term includes a travel trailer, camping trailer, truck camper, motor home, and horse trailer with living quarters. (a-3) For purposes of this section, "watercraft" means any boat, motorboat, vessel, or personal watercraft, other than a seaplane on water, used or capable of being used for transportation on water. ( B) Except as provided by Subsection (c), an offense under this section is a Class A misdemeanor. (c) An offense under this section is a felony of the third degree if the offense is committed on any premises licensed or issued a permit by this state for the sale of alcoholic beverages. SUBCHAPTER B. ORDINARY MISDEMEANOR PUNISHMENTS Sec. 12.21. CLASS A MISDEMEANOR. An individual adjudged guilty of a Class A misdemeanor shall be punished by: (1) a fine not to exceed $4,000; (2) confinement in jail for a term not to exceed one year; or (3) both such fine and confinement. ‘Open Carry’ Gun Fight Moves to Target Stores
btq96r replied to JohnC's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
I'm sure there may be some loons who would be willing to leave a loaded gun in the store to get a PR victory, but I think that would be such an exception that I'm not about to make that my default theory about this. Most of them wouldn't have the balls to do it. These people are more comfortable behind Facebook protests than actually doing something that could incriminate (this would be a crime, right?) to make the point. Show me real evidence (stuff that can stand in a courtroom) that points to your view and I'll be open to it, but not as a instant opinion. -
OS, I got almost the same recommendation from another source, so I've decided to give it a try. I decided to order a few yards of different material and enough clips to secure it. I even ordered some ladderlock buckles so I can have the adjustable length as I have it slung. I understand some people love the hooks for the ends of the sling, but I've never been a fan. Here is where I got it all from. jonathon1259- solid recommendation there. I may end up picking one of those up just cause they're so cheap. Thanks.

‘Open Carry’ Gun Fight Moves to Target Stores

I missed that in all the hoopla in the rest of the info about it. Now I'm even more convinced that it wasn't an anti-gun person who left it there. The place is just too far away from the rest of the current news about guns. -

If it was a cheap gun, it would lead me to think it was left there (accidentally or on purpose, I'm not sure) by someone who is a part of the Open Carry movement. They are all about just getting whatever will go bang without much thought to quality. Open Carry Texas is doing all the leg work here, the anti-gun crowd just has to sit back and watch their stupidity on display. -

Did you look at page 2 of their photos? In this one- you'll need to zoom in on it- you can see the gun in the wheelchair has his AR with mag resting on his thigh and the barrel is anywhere but a safe direction for a public setting. Here he is again with a kid close enough to where his rifle is pointing to make me think he isn't exactly cognizant of where his barrel is pointed. Take a look at the couple walking point. Call me crazy, but if you love your woman, you don't let her walk that close to the muzzle. In any event, having a long gun slung on your back isn't safe with a magazine in...to my opinion anyway. Yes, I know, I have no idea if they are really loaded or just a mag in the well, but to me it's irrelevant since you treat any weapon as a loaded weapon. If it's slung, it's slung muzzle down, in the front or off to the side and I have a hand on it to keep positive control whenever possible. Maybe that's just me. As far as our side attacking these guys being counterproductive...I don't care. Not talking up about this would be just a hypocritical as any other fringe position not getting the business from those who agree in part with them, but wish hey would stop being idiots going about the cause. They may be on the right side of the law, but these assclowns don't represent my idea of responsible gun ownership and I'm not going to let their actions speak for me. -

No kidding. Most of us, if not all have seen these types before. They're the people who will ruin your day at the range with their idiotic behavior, and make you think about calling it a day early so you don't have to be around them. I look at these guys and all I have is contempt. They may be exercising their rights, but they're coming close on exercising to the point of injury. I doubt they understand that concept since they don't appear to exercise anything else, in any fashion, but I digress. Look at these photos from their own site. Simple things like muzzle awareness seem to be an abstract concept for more than a few of them. You think the media is spun up about them now? Wait until one of these window lickers has a negligent discharge in an area where kids are near. It's only a matter of time, IMO. And on a completely personal note...they obviously don't know jack about good guns & accessories. All I see in these pictures are below average firearms with hardware that was the first item that comes up when you sort results in a category on Cheaper Than Dirt by "Price: Lowest to Highest." -
I need a long sling for my AR-15. I'm 6'1", keep the stock fully extended most of the time and like to have the rifle resting low by my side with the muzzle down and the buttstock pointing up like a broadsword handle. When I was still wearing a uniform, I had a standard issue 1.25" black nylon sling on my M4 that was super long and let me sling the gun comfortably over all my kit and without it, but all I can find are the 50"-55" ones now and those are way too short. Does anybody know where I can find a reasonably priced two-point sling to accommodate what I'm looking for? I don't need the latest taticool ones and want to keep this purchase at no more than $40 with shipping. Thanks for any help.

Did anybody go to this? I'm debating going tomorrow, but don't want to waste the time or the admission (yeah, I know it's only $10) if it's not worth it.

Has anyone really done it this way and is it worth it.

I use a microwave for most things, but not pizza rolls. I bought a toaster oven just for those. The difference is amazing and worth the extra 10 minutes or so. -
Don't forget keeping cigarette butts policed. If he see's more than one or two on the ground, he'll have all the NCO's in for a class on how to field strip a butt and put it in your pocket- then send us off to the motor-pool parking lot to go police call it for them...on a Saturday.
