Baseball is a funny game.  To win the World Series a lot of things have to go right.  I love the style of ball that San Fran is playing, they are a complete team in every facet which is why they are competing for their 3rd World Series Championship in 5 years.  The Royals aren't as flush with talent as SF, but they are playing their hearts out and I think their home crowd might be the factor that has them hoisting the trophy tonight.  Impossible to root for a team that has that special kind of magic the Royals have this year.  I know what it feels like, I'm a Red Sox fan and we had the same stuff last year for our improbable run.   It's been a great series so far, and the LCS match-ups before that were good as well..  The blowouts are still fun to watch until it gets out of hand.  I don't have a favorite, I just want to see one last game of good baseball before I'm forced to go without for the next 5 months.

  The same promise was made for satellite radio when it was being rolled out.  Nothing will ever be off limits as long as it makes a company money.

  ^ This is all it comes down to.   I bet the bitching would be much louder if websites decided to cover their operating costs through subscriptions.

I was in a similar situation as a kid.  The best thing you can do, IMO, is make the times they spend at your house, playing with your kids a great time.  I was pretty poor in my own house, but when I was hanging out at a friends house or my cousin's house, the parents always took a little extra care to make sure I was happy and enjoying myself.  I had some envy, but more so, it helped make me want to make something of myself and rise up from my conditions.  It proved that the best sermon is a good example.   Trying to do more could be seen as disrespectful by the kids guardians, even if it is with the best intentions from the way you describe them.  You might cause them to tell their kids to play with yours anymore, and then you're cut off from helping at all.

Very few print newspapers are worth the time to read these days.  The Tennessean isn't on that list and quite frankly, I haven't see any paper owned by Gannett Company that is.

  I'm just the opposite, I hate the stubby ones, and use the regular size ones exclusively.  I also tried the AFG for a bit, but that didn't blow me away either.  Though I didn't get to try it on a rail longer than carbine length rail.

I'll use a separate post to call anything zombie related a gun turn off for me.  I hope those who bought something with that, or added it themselves in a permanent way didn't hope for resale value to be the same as a non-zombie gun would be.

I think a lot of paint jobs can look tacky.  But that's just my personal aesthetic, I know some of you guys love doing it from the Show and Tell forum.   Camouflaging a long gun never appealed to me since with a fresh coat, it doesn't look right, and to get that worn in look, I'd have to beat it up pretty good, which being my own stuff, I'm not inclined to do on purpose.  Painting a pistol just seems weird to me, unless it's a touch up job in a standard color to give it some new life, which I do agree with.   The only pattern I'd consider getting done is that muddy girl style to paint up an AR in .22LR for my girlfriend to shoot alongside me when we go to the range.  She isn't a fan of shooting much higher for rifle rounds, and likes having girly stuff.

  That's why I never got married or had kids.  I like having disposable income to spend on gun stuff among other perks.  :D     If you want, you can PM me your address and I'll send you a few old school mags.  I'm phasing them out one at a time with P-Mags and can send some your way.  Consider it a welcome to the AR club present.

  Not sure if this was for me or the OP, but a trip to the Alabama store wouldn't be until mid-December at the earliest with my schedule right now.  Then I would have to consider it since I hate driving more than a few hours anywhere.  I should be okay doing this online if I decide to go for it.     Again, not sure if it was to me or the OP, but I'm not going to be picky on perfection.  I'd expect it to be used, with some scratches, dings and what not in the normal wear and tear areas.  That's part of the allure for me with this, it's a real deal M1 that someone might have drawn to take care of business, not some perfect out of the box model that nobody ever had in their hands for real life use.

I have a funny feeling that the airlines are behind it being opposed it for financial reasons.  Too many decisions of government are based on someone making or loosing money for it to be discounted.

  I'm sure there was, but it shouldn't have been his name on there.  The case was actually decided when Richard Daly was mayor of Chicago, so if they had paid up right after the judgement it would be his signature on there instead of Rahm Emanuel's.   Chicago took almost two years from when McDonald was decided to give the Second Amendment Foundation this check.  I can see a few months for delay- SAF had to prepare and send Chicago a bill, Chicago has to verify and validate the charges, back and forth.  But two years was just them being petty about paying up and stalling the process as long as they could.

  I'm leaning towards doing it.  I just joined the American Legion to meet their requirement of an affiliated club.    If I get one, I suppose I should fork out the extra $100 for a service grade to retain its value.  I wouldn't take it to the range more than one or two times a year, and would want it for the historical value more than anything.

Here is a picture of the 2nd Amendment Foundation proudly displaying the check they had cut from the City of Chicago as a result of being awarded legal fees ($399,950 to be exact) they incurred to successfully fight and win the McDonald v. Chicago case in 2010. They posted it on their Twitter feed to kick off their public relations campaign in support of their new lawsuit against Illinois regarding restrictions in there nascent CCW law. Here's hoping they bring home another win, and another big fat check!

  Even this robbery outside of Nashville is connected to Memphis.  From News-2, some information about the truck used to open a hole in the store.   Authorities said the truck was reported missing Oct. 19 from a Memphis rail yard where it was waiting to be transported to an Arkansas dealership.

I plan on seeing this movie some weekday afternoon after it's been out a few weeks so I don't have to deal with crowds.  Looking forward to it.

  You would think with those special rules, the Yes on 1 campaign would have some mention of it in their TV ad's and flyers.  Whoever is responsible for that oversight might cause a majority for Yes to still fail.

I plan to vote on Friday.  I'm still deciding who gets my Senate vote and I need to do more research on my General Assembly candidates since this is my first statewide election in my current residence.    As far as the ballot measures go...   #1:  No, for several reasons.  There are no exemptions for rape, incest, life of the mother in the proposed amendment, thus no guarantee they would be in any laws passed I truly feel this is a woman's decision, not a man's I don't like lowering the standard of privacy found in the TN State Constitution, even in this one specific subject   #2: Yes.  I want to keep judges as far away from money in politics as possible.   #3:  Yes.  TN has proven the ability to run the state well enough without an income tax, and if one is going to be levied after this long without one, it should be up to the people to approve it.   #4:  Yes.  Like I said earlier, this should be a legislative fix, but it should happen so I'll vote yes.   The Wine Conundrum:  Leaning yes by 60/40 on free market economic fundamentals, but still deciding on this one because of local business concerns.

I agree that PSA has good deals and products.  If you order and forget about it, one day you'll get a surprise knock at the door or call from your FFL dealer that your stuff is here.   Very nice AR-10 for the price, atlas.

  Pretty much.  For the grocery stores, the potential profit in this not happening isn't enough for them to close stores or lay off employees.  In their grand accounting, it could be as small as a rounding error.   For a local package store, it would be a much bigger hit percentage wise if they lost some of their business to a grocery store.  Some might go out of business depending on location and if their liquor sales and top end wine can keep them afloat or not.  One of my local wine and spirits stores is in the same shopping area as a Walmart.  And I think we all know what happens to a small business when Walmart opens in the same shopping area and offers the same products.     I'm actually torn on this one and haven't decided which way to vote yet.  I don't want to see local business' hurt and understand the value argument of keeping more money in the community, but I also think the prohibition makes for an unfair market practice. 

  Hell, I'd let them keep what they have, keep taxing me and I never get to draw Social Security at retirement just to wind down the scheme.  It would suck, but at some point, we have to pick a year of birth, make that the cutoff and force them to keep paying into Social Security while they get no benefits or a reduced rate of benefits.   1-2 generations will get screwed, or everybody will.  Might as well get it over with now while I still have the time to save for a retirement on my own.

  As long as the chart of percentages for voting by ages is skewed left, with those drawing and getting close to drawing Social Security, we will never be able to quit cold turkey.  To put it in perspective, look at this chart.       Spot on.  We created a problem we have no interest politically to solve until it collapses on itself.

I usually shop at the Publix down the road, but find myself in that same Walmart  from time to time, even at late hours since my daytime schedule is often full.    Going to an outdoor ATM at night isn't the smartest thing to do.  If you need cash after dark, go to a gas station and use one inside the store.  Saving on an ATM fee by going to your bank isn't worth your life.   Either case is a perfect example of why I have a HCP.
