  1. I won't buy this unless I have the extra cash, which may not be for a while while I'm in school, but I think it's just a beautiful gun, and having a 1911 has always been on the bucket list. Springfield Armory 1911 TRP
  2.   For me, the nose to charging handle works best.  It feels the most natural for body position since I've been doing it for so long.  With my position settled, I can focus on the rest of the fundamentals.     So, since this scope is so big I'll probably need to get the FSP removed on my upper to give it the breathing room I want, which means I might as well get a free float with a low profile gas block installed....and this is how gun projects get out of control, fast.
  3.   Dude, thanks for posting that.  It was that simple of a fix.       Yeah, I wanted to move mine further as well, but the delta ring is in the way.  Makes shooting with my nose on the charging handle impossible.  I'll try it out sometime next week or the week after to figure out if I can work with it, or I need to get rings that can mount on the rail without having to slide on from an end.
  4.   Got the scope today.  It looks great, but whoever said these rings work with it is an idiot or only has a safe queen.  I can't adjust the magnification because it's pushed right up against the base of the ring no matter where I put it on the back end.  I'll have to get another way to mount it since I don't want to use only one ring.   Which rings are you guys who already have this scope using?
  5.   I'm right there with you on that one.  The only reward I ever sought for serving was the satisfaction of knowing what I did.
  6.   Their shipping time was the only turnoff about them.  Everything I've ordered from PSA has been good quality at a great price.
  7.   $50 is my threshold for little things that aren't required for my needs.  Any money I put into a gun is with a budget in mind.  I can't see that modification saving me enough time in a malfunction clearing to justify $200.  The Army taught me remedial action well enough to feel confident in my abilities with the standard charging handle.   For those in the 3-gun craze, I could see it, but since I don't do those, it's just not for me.  If I ever win the lottery however, I'll have one of everything.  :D
  8. This is a far better investment of federal funding to local departments than giving them MRAP's or other military grade equipment for any whimsical cause.       As others have said, the expectations of privacy are different when you are a public servant.  If an officer can't meet the standards for interacting with the public, respecting their rights, ect, they don't deserve their pay.  I get that it's not easy to be a cop, and hiring good cops is getting more difficult, but standards need to be upheld across the board.  These cameras are a good way to help identify the bad ones who need to go, and make sure the good ones aren't given a bad rap.
  9. Ordered a scope from them on Wednesday night, will be here day after tomorrow.  Much faster than my previous orders that were clocked in weeks, not days.  Maybe they heard the people talking about the long wait times when compared to their competitors.
  10.   Come to the darkside...we have cookies. http://www.tngunowners.com/forums/topic/83651-bushnell-ar-optics-45-18x40mm-bdc-reticle/
  11.   I like the concept, the innovation, and how simple it looks to install and remove, but I wouldn't spend a dime over $50 for it.
  12.   I was speaking hypothetically.  I actually deleted my home address from the database the Democrats use to identify supporters and donors to keep off as many mailing lists as I can when I left the campaign I interned for.   Besides, I get enough "send money now" direct mailings from the pro-gun orgs since they must share data, or buy it from gun sale websites I shop on.  Between those, Comcast, AT&T, and all the mail I get for the previous four residents of my current residence, my mailman rarely brings something worthwhile anymore.
  13. I'd just write "Return to Sender" on anything I get from MDA.  It's not worth the waste of time, effort or a stamp on them.
  14. I got my tracking number for the scope today, which was a pleasant surprise.  With PSA, I was expecting to order on Black Friday and get it after Xmas.    Glad others were able to take advantage of the deal.  This place has given me so much, it feels good to provide something for others on here.
  15.   It's aluminum we're seeing.  I can feel the difference between the area done up and the smooth black.  The engraver was inside a clock shop that does all kinds of engravings for watches, trophies, plaques, ect...he just doubles as a firearms engraver.   I just want to keep it legal, and not have any glaring out parts aside from the pictograms.  I'm going to get a bottle of the alumablack and give it a go.  Thanks for all the sage counsel.
  16.   It was laser engraved.  I'm not upset with the quality of the lettering, but I for sure wanted to have it faded with a quick color job.  I was going to get a small bottle of Testers model paint, that's what I used for the pictograms, but you think the stuff you linked would be better?   If I can't fix it, I might just travel to Oak Ridge and have you do it right if you can give me a quick enough turnaround.  You're the only one I've seen that has a standard I can accept.
  17. I finally got my SBR lower engraved and I'm not happy. I took it to Andrew's Tactical Firearms in Clarksville since I was up there for the holiday. Only after the engraving was I told that the markings aren't deep enough for me to paint over and still be visible to the eye like the manufacturer's markings. To quote Andrew, "I guess I should have mentioned that." $25 later, my lower looks like ass (to me) and, at a minimum, at least part of it will need to be repainted. It technically meets the legal requirements since .003" is just about anything that scratches the surface, but I don't have what I want. My fault for not being my regular over managing, dickheaded self. I am giving it the official "BTQ  " for SBR purposes. However, to be fair, I'll let others judge for themselves. After looking at my pic if it's something you can live with for your SBR, I will say it was affordable and done inside of 10 minutes from start to finish since I was the only one in the store. I also think that for commemorative jobs, the work style would look nice, but not for my SBR.
  18. Seafood of any type.  It's all disgusting to me.
  19. Make sure you know how much a service call is going to cost you.  If you can't prove it's something that they failed to deliver, you'll be on the hook for the technician coming out.  Even if they are fixing something that is their fault, I can still see them putting it into your next bill.
  20. Do you have proof of and any convictions on those charges?
  21. Happy Thanksgiving, all.  I hope it's a great day for everybody.   When you're around the table with your family and friends, take a moment to think about the troops who are had their Thanksgiving served to them from a mermite that arrived via truck or helicopter.  They're standing watch so we can get fat back here at home.
  22. Saw this while doing some other shopping online.  Looks good enough.  I saw the Bushnell model I ordered specifically addressed in the questions and reviews. http://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B00B5F02ZW/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1     Again, gents, thanks again for all the input.  Such a wealth of knowledge here.
  23. Well, I just ordered it.  Hard to resist at that price.    Real life product reviews in under an hour.  This place rocks.  Next step is to look for something to mount it with.
  24.   What did you get to mount it?
  25. This seems like a good black Friday deal from PSA, but I have no experience with scopes beyond an ACOG. I trust you guys more than other online reviews...do you think this scope is worth the cost and reliable? http://palmettostatearmory.com/index.php/4-5-18x40-bdc-reticle-target-turrets-sf-matte-blk.html   I plan to mount a scope onto a 16" AR so I have a long reach gun to compliment my SBR, but I want to keep it affordable (under $200).
