My buddy had one (not in full auto), but it mostly sat in the safe for the reasons you mention. When we did bring it out to the range, it was the envy of all around us. It was fun to shoot for a few rounds, but yeah, it's more cool than practical, and the cool wears off faster than you might think. That being said, if it's something anybody really wants in their collection, and they have the disposable income....why not. It does have a place in the history of American firearms.

I have gotten a yeoman's service from my little Ford Ranger, and it's still under 76k miles due to my being in and out of the country so much over the last 12 years. But to this day, I wish I had enough to buy the quad cab Tacoma back in 2002 when I bought my first vehicle. My lower enlisted pay could only handle so much car and insurance costs per month back then, so I had to go with the Ranger.

Firearms issue bills for this session.

Just keep us updated, and maybe we can get a TGO presence there. I'd be happy to link up with any TGO'ers for an early lunch downtown and head over to the committee after. -

Is that open to the public? That day falls on my spring break from classes, and I would most certainly be there if allowed. -
This is what a "tactical pen" looks like. Any questions?

+1 to all this. Winamp is awesome, I was sad to hear they shut down and won't be putting out any more updates. To this list, I also add my VPN service, VLC Media Player, DisplayFusion so I can manage a dual screen setup easier, Google Earth and TrueCrypt.

Toyota also has manufacturing plants in the US. While it doesn't account for as many jobs as Ford, Dodge and Chevy have domestically, I'm comfortable saying that if you buy a Toyota in America, you're supporting American jobs.

The Toyota Hilux is about as close to indestructible as a pickup truck can get. I'd see them everywhere while OCONUS. It might be too small for those of you who like your big trucks, but it would be perfect for my needs. With the Toyota Tacoma getting bigger (and pricier), and the Ford Ranger no longer in production, I'd love to see the Hilux come to America before it's time for me to get a new vehicle.

Godsmack is great in concert. When you see them play, you will realize there is no studio work needed to make them sound better on their albums. I remember when they got onto the radio in Boston. They put in all the effort doing local shows to build their name. The last time I saw them was in 2004 when they opened for Metallica in Nashville, and it was an awesome show.

Looking up 5.56mm on GunBot is getting depressing. Even PSA isn't immune to the rage of hiking up the prices of green tip to ~0.60 per round. http://palmettostatearmory.com/index.php/catalog/product/view/id/428/ http://palmettostatearmory.com/index.php/catalog/product/view/id/15084/

I'm just saying what they could do if they were serious enough. But I really think they care more about having the issues front and center to give them press time, and use for the next election than actually solving them. Darrell Issa's time as House Oversight and Government Reform Committee Chariman was more reality TV than investigatory, and he was supposed to be on it with those issues you mentioned. Problem with this is, the impact is already being felt because people don't feel that BATFE will be impeded in any way. The last few hundred rounds of PMC X-TAC 5.56mm I have become a reserve instead of training ammo because of this. If all BATFE see's is a letter, they aren't going to be worried about it.

Yup, "power of the purse" as it's called. Congress also has appropriations authority, meaning they can decide what money is authorized for what specific purposes and what is up to the discretion of the agency management. They can also stall nominations of appointees, though for law enforcement agencies, that's not always the best plan. The biggest wrench to throw into the machine of BATFE would be to hold hearings to find out what went into the process behind this decision. I doubt they want subpoenas issued for all their internal emails, call logs, meeting notes, ect., as a prelude to testimony under oath.

From USMC to NIKE... and California to Tennessee

The ammo tax also helps pay for the ranges TWRA administrates, so others have a place where they can practice shooting. If you're going to get into a different forum, fine, your loss, not ours. But if you plan to stay around, enjoy our community, and benefit from it, I would suggest you don't come into someone elses house and proceed tell them what's what, immediately after saying hello. -
I didn't find it super funny, but chuckled at the end. I wouldn't call it offensive, it's just a comedic spin on current events, like most of SNL is.

I'd rather have five members of Congress put up a real fight than 100 sign a letter that will be ignored. Letters with a lot of signatories are only effective at letting a cabinet official know that a proposal requiring Congressional approval isn't going to happen. Since this is an internal ruling Congress should be expressing its disapproval through legislation to preempt BAFTE, not sending letters on the issue.

I spent a lot of time escaping into Star Trek as a kid, and even as an adult I still enjoy it. Leonard Nimoy took pride in his work, and it came across the screen. Sad day with his passing. Condolences to his family and friends.

Gov't Shutting Down Internet?? Says my Hair stylist.

What OS said. Though the big question is...hair stylist? I thought men went to barber's. ;) -
What pistols would you add to this collection?(Light topic, for fun only)
btq96r replied to espacef1fan's topic in Handguns
Part for fun, part serious...a .22 pistol. Great way to practice fundamental shooting with cheaper(er) ammo, and let kids train on to get their feet wet. Also, .22 pistols are great for bug out bags. Lets you carry more ammo, and have a round that is more versatile in an overall survival situation. -
Let me get this straight. The NRA has the support of the Chair of the House Judiciary Committee. This same individual has the power to decide what bills are voted on in his committee, a committee which has oversight for federal law enforcement agencies, including BAFTE. He can also schedule and convene hearings, compel testimony under oath from members of those agencies under their oversight. Yet the best that can be done is a letter?

That's for the Net Neutrality debate, which I agree is going to come down to best of the worst options.. This is about variety in the amount of ISP's, some of whom have what I like to call inkblot monopolies by region. The development of local ISP's, like the one in Chattanooga, is a good thing to me. This ruling will only make sure state laws can't shut them down for no reason other than the ISP lobby is willing to pay for it.
-
A win out of the FCC today. They ruled that states can't limit local alternatives to the big ISP's. http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/the-switch/wp/2015/02/26/the-fcc-rules-against-state-limits-on-city-run-internet/

There was about an inch, inch and a half of snow in Murfreesboro last night. It was actually pretty. I walked home late from the school library and enjoyed the walk very much. Now, aside from some snow on the grass, it's all melted away. Even the buildup in my truck bed is gone.

I found it funny that he signed up on different gun forums to post the exact same content. I guess he feels all corners of the internet need his wisdom?

Not for nothing, but the VA Secretary is recognized as a Republican, and is reported to donate exclusively to them. He and his wife certainly gave money to that party. Once again, we see lying is bipartisan. It's sad. Mr. McDonald served for five years on active duty with the 82d Airborne. That alone, should be enough for anybody to be proud of. There is no reason for him to try and embellish things, yet here we are.
