  1. The F-35 is one of the "Most Effective Weapons In The US Arsenal?"  Maybe they can make that claim sometime after they're put in actual use.   Also, I saw a lot more 60mm mortars (dismounted) and 120mm mortars (fixed position) than 81mm's in Iraq and Afghanistan.
  2. Plenty of local pawn shops have FFL's and offer transfers.  One of the local ones here in Murfreesboro does it for $20 plus the $10 TBI background check.  That's better than anybody by about $5.  I'd practice some Google-Fu and see what you can find.
  3. A personal driving tactic for me is to never let someone cross in front of me if they don't have a turn signal on.  While I'm not 100% in implementing this technique, I can proudly say I've caused more than my fair share of dickhead motorists to fall in behind me, or even better, miss their turn both in the city and more satisfyingly, on the highway.    If I see a turn signal, I usually allow them to get in front of me.

    First Amendment

Anybody should be able to burn the flag as a form of speech.  I'm 99.9% sure I'll disagree with how they choose to convey their point, but they have the right to light it up as a means to do so if they choose.  Should they ask me if they think its a good idea, I'd tell them to do a quick risk assessment with regards to what could happen.  If someone wants to get physical as a response to flag burning, I have no sympathy for them when terms like assault and battery are read aloud in court as charges against them.  Big boy rules apply on both sides of this philosophical debate.   For myself, I have too much respect for freedom of speech to want flag burning to be illegal, and too much discipline to be goaded into a response towards those burning the flag.
  5.   Beat me too it.    Barring another Hillary campaign collapse or an exit stage right should a body be discovered, O'Malley isn't in the race to win, he just wants to ensure his next job is a prestigious appointment or lucrative big business/speaking gig.
  6. Beretta might make something that weird looking someday.  It's about in line with their long gun aesthetic.
  7. I think the only knock I can hold against the Scorpion is the grip.  I'm hoping some aftermarket parts for a new one come out a replacement more like a Magpul grip or the one the SIG MPX has are available.
  8. The Second Amendment Foundation has been all over DC's ass in court on this one.  I think they are hoping that with a precedent coming from a case involving DC, it establishes case law for future federal cases.
  9.   Added to my wish list on Primary Arms.  I'll add it to my next biannual purchase.   Thanks for sharing.
  10. I have a Leatherman Charge, and it's awesome.  I used to be a Gerber guy, and they aren't necessarily bad, but I'm converted to Leatherman.
  11. I get that to some of you it's fun to piss off hippies and all, but making a big to-do about it seems like bad form, especially the part about someone bleeding out.  That's not the type of conversation I'd have with a stranger, and I wouldn't feel it my place to deliver a lecture.  Whenever I'm asked why I carry, I just tell them "I refuse to become a victim without a fight," and leave it be.
  12.   This is like the proposed green tip ban, where enough public resistance can make BAFTE back down.  Admittedly, it's not as impactful to the gun community as the green tip ban was, but I think the fact that it is going after dedicated shooters is a deliberate act.  The NRA could shake the tree, spin up the grassroots, put Congressman on notice know they expect them to support or sponsor legislation to prohibit it, lest they find a challenger getting the funding, or their own rating downgraded, etc...   I'm not sure if BAFTE is really going to go through with it in December, but that's the best time if they were.  America will be focused on Xmas shopping, vacations and their own personal lives, while the beginning of next year brings about the Presentational primary season, and plenty of other issues will push this down in importance.  Perfect time to slide in something they've wanted for a good bit.
  13. If the NRA can leverage their power and beat this back, I might take back some of the mean spirited things I've said about them.   Time will tell.
  14. SOWF is a very worthy charity, and they put the funds they receive to awesome effect.  Charity Navigator rates them at four stars, with 98.96 out of 100 on their scoring matrix, which is pretty damn high.
  15. I think the current applicable laws are good enough.  A good enough DA or ADA would be able to comb through the TCA and find plenty of charges if the evidence was good enough.   Your standard variety thief isn't going to steal a gun for home defense.  Odds are they don't have a HCP, so they can get hit with a charge on carrying it while out and about, if they use it while committing a crime that will be an additional charge, and if they tried to sell it- probably to one of their friends- I'm pretty sure it would qualify as deliberately selling a firearm to someone they know does not qualify to possess one, which incurs a charge as well.   As to the restoration of rights (voting, firearms, etc...) I think that in non-violent crimes, once a sentence and any probation time is complete, the person should have all rights restored automatically.  Violent offenders are always going to be a case-by-case basis.
  16. Awesome story.  My father spent a few years in the mid-late 60's serving in Germany and eventually made it to Vietnam.  I'll have to ask him if he was ever on a troop ship.
  17. I bought one a year ago, it worked good for the lower I was building.   I also paid $10 less than Amazon is selling it for now...guess they've been selling well.
  18.   Comcast's blocks any foreign router until the customer calls to active it by giving them the MAC address.  The customer service rep has to manually add it to their network.  Then you get to repeat the process when it "mysteriously" drops off at some point.
  19.   I found it funny that the cable industry and their lobbyists got quite pissy when the FCC changed the definition of broadband internet to 25Mbps download/3Mbps upload.  The National Cable & Telecommunications Association actually said this change would, and I quote, "dramatically exaggerate the amount of bandwidth needed by the typical broadband user."   That would mean the serves they push on customers with as much enthusiasm as a drug dealer- often well in excess of the 25/3 standard- should be defined the same way.
  20.   You can still plug your computer directly into the private modem.  If you need more than one port, you can just get a switch like this one for an extra $20.  If you don't need wifi, then you don't have to connect it to a wifi router.   My private modem cost $70.  It basically paid for itself after seven months, and I've had it for a year and a half now, so the savings also paid for my wireless router which cost another $50.
  21.   You had one of those promotional rates.  The fine print had the timeline for it.  Depending on if you agreed or not to a fixed period, you can call to negotiate it.   I was on the same thing with my service package, but I wasn't locked into anything past the promotional rate.  When the raise in the bill came, I called them, told them I wasn't going to pay higher than a certain amount, and they magically found a combination of discounts to get me under that number.  This last time they tried to sell me more speed at the higher price, but I told them I live alone, 25Mbps is all I need, and $50 per month before taxes and fees is my limit.  Just be firm with what you want, but don't expect them to give you more service or less of a price than you've already had at some point.   Renting one of their modems is out of the question.  They can't BS me since I actually know the specs of my modem.  The Motorola Surfboard I've had since I signed up with Comcast can handle six times the speed I'm paying for right now, so if they ever tried to tell me their lies, I'll call them out on it riki tik.
  22. Pete, I'll remind you of this story next time you compare yourself to the Rolling Stones with regards to sex appeal.
  23. Unless you've got an exception to policy from an admin or moderator, the TGO Trading Post is for all buying, selling, and trading on here.  You'll need a Benefactor membership to participate in it.
  24. Two questions...   1) Why does someone concerned with the "end of days" need money? 2) Can we just slip this into the Jade Helm thread as part of a containment protocol for all the crazy?
