  1. But, as we ALL say repeatedly, guns don't go off by themselves. Proper trigger discipline and all... and properly holstered, the trigger is covered...
  2. Wanted to ask your thoughts on mechanical safeties. There are so many new handguns out there that have no thumb safety, and tons of us carry them every day with no problem.   We seem to have this notion stuck in our heads about 1911's, though. They should be carried "cocked & locked," we believe, with that thumb safety engaged. Is this antiquated thinking?   Along comes the Springfield XD, with ONLY a grip safety, ala the 1911's. We feel perfectly fine with that properly holstered with only a grip safety.   Would it not stand to reason, then, that a properly holstered 1911 without the thumb safety engaged, and only IT'S grip safety doing the job, would be every bit as safe? Is it just ancient mental imagery, including that hammer being back that makes us feel uneasy about not having that thumb lever flipped?
  3. The second Springer pic and the Kimber pic up there look like reload disasters; NOT structural integrity issues.   Had a guy blow up his SIG 1911 the other day with a double charged handload.   Came off the range bleeding, said, "I don't know WHAT happened. My SIG blew up on me."   "Factory loads?"   "No, my reloads."   "THAT'S what happened."   He looked at me dumbfounded. :shake:
  4. Maybe I need to take a look at mine...
  5. The possible replacement...
  6. I may have found a worthy replacement... :D
  7. MY first choice would be a Glock 42. Something about them is just "right," for me.
  8. Maybe I need to send her a friend request... ;)
  9. Is this the hottie? ;)
  10. Can y'all not read the snide, tongue in cheek attitude OBVIOUS in the main page?? LMBO. This guy is hilarious! Great joke!!
  11. Amazing. HAS to be shared.
  12. It's gonna say "Gallatin, TN."   I want to see one. Might be pretty nice.
  13. Wish I still had my old "Clackamas, OR" rollmarked Kimber. That was one great 1911.
  14. Interesting. http://controversialtimes.com/military/marine-corps-approves-glock-19-for-limited-use/
  15. To those of you that didn't get I was joking... lighten up, lol
  16. As I stare into my cereal bowl, filled with torn pieces of bread swimming in milk, I have to ask myself... ... what the HELL was I thinking?!?!?!
  17. Like it!!!!
  18. Saw it last night with my Marine, who snuck in this week unannounced from Iraq. Very powerful, for us both.
  19. They will NOT handle +P or hollow points. Range toy only; not a truck gun...
  20. I see you know my daughter...
  21. I believe I do remember! And now we're FB friends, as well!   Yes, I do work there. Come see me. Be there all day tomorrow.
  22. I have no way to measure... but a regular 21 is too big in my hand, and painful to shoot. A gen 3 SF is not, and neither is a gen 4. Makes me believe they are the same, anyway.
  23. JohnC... when was that? We removed those railroad ties quite some time ago. Sorry I missed you!   Or, don't remember... which is more likely, lol...

    scary gun

There was a guy on Facebook had one for sale a while back for $200!!! I politely told him he had a $30 gun, and he got really pissed. Used some rather colorful language, lol.
  25. Our guy that just went through the Glock Armorer school didn't hear anything about an "ATF/Dot connector." Can you elaborate? How can you tell?
