  1. Steelharp

    Ruger SR45

mhl6493, my SR45 is the best .45 I've ever owned. It is 1911 slim, with a double stack mag, carries as well as a 1911, and shoots accurately and softly. I have had zero issues with it. If a 1911 feels "right" to you, this is as close as you're going to get in a poly frame .45.
  2. And the son of Kingfish and Sapphire. (At least in the old movie; haven't seen this one yet.) ;)
  3. I highly recommend Sam Hoster in Gallatin. Complete Gun Shop, located inside Asherbranner's Pawn Shop, 615-206-0075. Not sure what his holiday schedule is, but he would do an excellent job.
  4. No, my screen name is from the fact that I'm a musician that plays steel guitar and harmonica (harp). But that's an interesting take I hadn't thought about!   I actually prefer the poly guns, especially all day on my hip. That less weight factor does help a lot.
  5. I had an old T series, one from the early 70's, and a later model Practical. There's no finer SA 9mm. Then, I discovered CZ's, and thought those to be a better mousetrap because of being able to decock them. Then, I fired strikers, and I found what I really liked the best overall.
  6. I read in a thread somewhere here about someone shooting an all steel gun after shooting polymer for so long, and how good it felt. I can understand that. I wonder why there aren't many all steel striker fired guns... I realize the Kimber Solo is one, and some of the Kahr's might be considered that... but their triggers are more like revolvers. Is there a steel pistol with a true ala Glock inspired striker firing system?   I would LOVE to see the Ruger SR45 in an all steel configuration...
  7. Got this in my e-mail. I liked it a lot. --------------------------- (Apparently not from the original source quoted in the e-mail I received, but rather from Ben Stein in 2005)   My confession: I don't like getting pushed around for being a Jew, and I don't think Christians like getting pushed around for being Christians. I think people who believe in God are sick and tired of getting pushed around, period. I have no idea where the concept came from that America is an explicitly atheist country. I can't find it in the Constitution and I don't like it being shoved down my throat... Or maybe I can put it another way: where did the idea come from that we should worship celebrities and we aren't allowed to worship God as we understand Him? I guess that's a sign that I'm getting old but there are a lot of us who are wondering where these celebrities came from and where the America we knew went to. In light of the many jokes we send to one another for a laugh, this is a little different: This is not intended to be a joke; it's not funny, it's intended to get you thinking. In light of recent events... terrorists attack, school shootings, etc.. I think it started when Madeleine Murray O'Hare (she was murdered, her body found a few years ago) complained she didn't want prayer in our schools, and we said OK. Then someone said you better not read the Bible in school... The Bible says thou shalt not kill; thou shalt not steal, and love your neighbor as yourself. And we said OK. Then Dr. Steven Benjamin Spock said we shouldn't spank our children when they misbehave, because their little personalities would be warped and we might damage their self-esteem (Dr. Spock's son committed suicide). We said an expert should know what he's talking about.. And we said okay.. Now we're asking ourselves why our children have no conscience, why they don't know right from wrong, and why it doesn't bother them to kill strangers, their classmates, and themselves. Probably, if we think about it long and hard enough, we can figure it out. I think it has a great deal to do with 'WE REAP WHAT WE SOW.' Funny how simple it is for people to trash God and then wonder why the world's going to hell. Funny how we believe what the newspapers say, but question what the Bible says. Funny how you can send 'jokes' through e-mail and they spread like wildfire, but when you start sending messages regarding the Lord, people think twice about sharing. Funny how lewd, crude, vulgar and obscene articles pass freely through cyberspace, but public discussion of God is suppressed in the school and workplace. Are you laughing yet? Funny how when you forward this message, you will not send it to many on your address list because you're not sure what they believe, or what they will think of you for sending it. Funny how we can be more worried about what other people think of us than what God thinks of us. Pass it on if you think it has merit. If not, just discard it... no one will know you did. But, if you discard this thought process, don't sit back and complain about what bad shape the world is in.

  9. Bizarre... indeed...
  10. Was there a bell ringing nearby?
  11. I don't know of any that are FULLY ambi except the FNS line. Lots have some ambi controls (safety, mag release), but the FNS is the only one I've seen with everything including the slide lock.
  12. Yeah, it was taken down a while back.
  13. Omega, excellent. Thanks so much!
  14. Got a link for that episode?
  15. Dang; where's Shepherd Master when ya need him?
  16. Nice FN there, Cartel.
  17. Unless you go in the back door, where all the pickers packing go in. :hat:
  18. Dale was the lefty on Hee Haw, played on a bunch of records over the years... one of Nashville's most famous pickers and characters. I think if you search him, you'll find out...   This is him now... http://sellerscustomlures.com/   And on Facebook... https://www.facebook.com/dale.sellers.35
  19. I have a great story about Dale Sellers, one of Nashville's most famous leftys. But it's long, and probably boring if you don't know who Dale is...
  20. A lot of leftys learn to play right handed, and are incredible players. The fingers of their dominant hand doing the fretting gives them great dexterity. Consider having him switch over.
  21. The PPS is what the Glock 43 should have been. They are great shooters, very slim, and very accurate. To me, their triggers are far superior to the spongy Shield trigger. But, I've never cared for any M&P.
  22. Sam Hoster in Gallatin was instrumental in this gun. He flew to Remmy multiple times, and basically did the design for them. Sam is a well known 1911 god. They are excellent guns. You'll love it.
  23. Done!
  24. He already said he went with an M&P. We can stop now. :D
