  1. And how did we come to THAT sweeping conclusion?? Don't misunderstand, I have Glocks and love 'em. There are guns just as reliable, though.
  2. Excellent point, well taken. I'm sure when the first Colt SA Army's hit, there was the, "No way, I'm sticking with my cap and ball, thank you. I know it works" crowd. Every gun is new, at first. My SR9 hasn't hiccuped yet. But even the most trustworthy "old friend" can cough at the wrong time. They're machines; it happens.

Well, the original quote only addresses mags, not threaded barrels. It's sad to hear that the company "philosophy" is quite archaic and timid.

Now, that position is terrible. It sucks. That is not how it should be, and Mr. Ruger was flat out wrong. Now, the company's firearms don't seem to agree with that position. And this was a discussion of those arms, not Mr. Ruger's incorrect stance. Anyway, my point was there have been many issues over the years with all types of arms. You have made a clear point for your distaste for Mr. Ruger, though.

Guys like you kill me. Let's see: Glock puts their frame rails in backwards, what did they call it? Not a recall, some other euphemism. Kel-Tek needs F&B. 1911's are unreliable without a ton of work, Kimber's MIM parts break, service is awful. The legends go on and on. Ruger finds a problem, proceeds to take care of it... and they get gripes. Some people are never happy. Do you whine because you have to wipe when you're finished, too?
  6. That was my choice... till the SR9. So much more ergonomically friendly...
  7. One fondle will do it. It feels like a sleek single stack 1911... but it's a double stack 9mm. A little trigger tune, and it feels like a smooth SA, as well.
  8. Check out the new Ruger SR9. Flat, slim, 17 + 1 rds 9mm, thumb safety that isn't a necessity, but it's there if you want it, extremely low bore axis for a push instead of a flip... best carry gun I've ever owned.
  9. ... perhaps this should get a serious look. http://gunowners.org/a011309.htm
  10. When did .40 fall into the "minor caliber" group?
  11. canynracer, like the sig... but 11:22 says, "but when one stronger than he assails him and overcomes him, he takes away his armor in which he trusted, and divides his spoil." Make sure you have enough gun, I suppose...

    Sig 232?

I have a P230. Don't know what the difference is, but for $400, I'd snap it up. Great pocket type gun.
  13. When I asked our own Glockmeister about what constituted "brandishing" as a permit holder, he took the blue training Glock off the table and pointed it at my face. Good example, I thought.
  14. Behind the gun. If she tries to put you in front of it, she's NOT your girlfriend.

    Why 1911?

Actually, it was the single pickup Broadcaster. The two pickup Tele followed quickly. A friend of mine in a gospel music group picked up an old Broadcaster from a guy at a church 20+ years ago for $300. Fender always put the date of manufacture on the base of the neck. When the neck was taken off for some repair work at a shop, the neck said P.A.F. No date. He sold it for $250,000.
  16. No. It's not in the same league, triggerwise. It's a step in the right direction, but no cigar.
  17. And that, ladies and gents, is why Phil is one of the good guys. You go, bro!
  18. Bore axis is the one thing that turned me off on the XD line. Uselessly high profile. Others have a lower profile, and for me, shoot much better.
  19. I loved Glocks... till the Ruger SR9 happened, and I saw the light... "perfection" perfected.
  20. Well, with the SR 9, I'm thinking... what if Ruger did a version in .45 ACP, that would use standard 1911 mags? I think THAT would be a great next step!
  21. Is it necessary to compare it to a Glock, to show that it is "perfection" perfected? Let's look at it. The similarity is the trigger, to be sure. But, it has a stainless slide, rounded top, extremely low bore axis, better sights, styling, slimmer, same round capacity, thumb safety, American made... It is the first time I've felt like I could answer the question, "If you had to have only ONE gun...?"
  22. To paraphrase Dan Akroyd: "Rosanne, you ignorant slut."
  23. MHO... but I'm thinking this is the best of the plastic pistol genre out there. Man, I am lovin' it...
  24. It was just a joke... it works great...
  25. It's back together, but it won't fire...
