  1. And there is where the 1911 design truly shines, IMHO. That's what it was designed for.
  2. Sometimes, gun stores have deals with local pawn shops, and when the best ones come out of pawn, they go to the gun store. That sometimes leaves the chaff for the pawn shop counter.
  3. I know; I was just enjoying the "phonetic similarity."
  4. Ditto. Mine does, however, clean MY... uh... "gun."
  5. Aww, c'mon; go ahead and spend a couple large on one that's so tight it quits after 4-5 rounds. Don't get an inexpensive, loose, mil-spec, 100% reliable version. You have to have the entire experience...
  6. I'll check; thanks...
  7. I want White Saturday. Equal time.
  8. Don't think so; I think that's just his chosen extra tag line...
  9. Somehow, that's what I was actually thinking...
  10. What exactly does that mean? I've always wondered; does it have anything to do with important things, like reliability and accuracy, or does it just refer to bell and whistle type things?
  11. mav, the 1911 trigger is in a class all its' own. One can't compare any trigger that swings to it. That being said, IMHO, the LEM trigger is one of the best of the swing triggers. It is consistent (unless the round fails to fire), it has a very clean break, and makes accuracy very easy. DON'T be fooled by dry fire drills. It will switch to the heavy pull because the slide didn't recock it.
  12. Yeah, but there's a LOT of handgun platforms.
  13. Perhaps the OP should chime back in with what he's specifically looking for? Just a thought...
  14. How is that, boss? It only changes from 4 lbs. if the round doesn't go off. And the problem is bigger at that point, anyway.
  15. Well, you prompted me to do a long search. Nothing I can find anywhere disputes its' complete American manufacture. "What you talkin' 'bout, Willis?"
  16. Had to go check it; been a while. It's about halfway through the return when it resets. Never shot a DAK.
  17. I have a 2000 that came factory with it. It is most excellent. It's around a 4lb pull, 12lb when the slide doesn't cycle and recock it. It's a great trigger system, I think. I am not a fan of DA/SA. Don't like the transition. This is much better.
  18. TN isn't small. What part of the state? Here in the Nashville area, Sam Hoster at Complete Gun Shop in Gallatin and Chad Kandros do excellent work.
  19. ... change its' home to the Philippines?
  20. Always wondered about this. It always seemed backwards to me, for some reason. Then, I came across this: The most common theory traces this order to the operation of the M1 Garand rifle. Before loading the ammunition clip into the rifle, the operating rod handle is pulled to the rear until the bolt is securely locked open. According to the M1 Garand Manual, loading the clip without first locking the bolt could result in an accidental discharge of a round. In the 1943 training film (Rifle Marksmanship with M1 Rifle) the instructor orders first "Lock" then "Load".
  21. That was Mark, the owner. He could piss off the Pope. Gerald and Bob and the other guys were great.
  22. Taurus has the 990, with two cylinders, one for LR, the other for WMR... and a ridiculous almost 13lb trigger pull. So close to getting it right...
