Money cures a lotta poop. I doubt they worry about it. Short story about a couple legendary steel guitar players y'all have probably never heard of, Buddy Emmons and Pete Drake. Buddy is considered the god, while Pete is the guy that played on a bunch of hit records. Buddy is not human, Pete couldn't even play a scale if you asked him. At a show in St. Louis, Pete walked in while Buddy was playing. Buddy saw him, and tore off this lick that wasn't even possible for anyone else. He looked at Pete and said, "Let's see you do THAT!" Pete pulled a wad of hundreds out of his pocket, flipped 'em like a picture book in Bud's face, and said, "Let's see YOU do THAT!"

Acts 4:10 then know this, you and all the people of Israel: It is by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom you crucified but whom God raised from the dead, that this man stands before you healed. 11 He is " 'the stone you builders rejected, which has become the capstone.' 12 Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved." Romans 10:9 That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. Seems fairly simple to me. But, who am I?

Anyone going to Hendersonville this weekend?
Steelharp replied to alingo2001's topic in Events and Gatherings
I went, got there around 2:30. The first show was huge, but the building wasn't ready. Parking lot was all mud, no air conditioning, and it was sweltering. So many customers and vendors hacked off that it's made the subsequent shows quite a bit smaller. Shame, because the facility rocks now. I found a factory 25rd mag for my Ruger .22, and a S&W pocketknife I was looking for. Didn't have enough cash to swim any deeper... -
Year membership is $199. Per day is $15. $10 before 10am Mon-Thu. Best place for miles around. Great people, too. Been trying to get them to come on here...

You've given my tongue a hard on. Just sayin'. -
Wyatt, you need an attitude adjustment. While you have some good points, you're wrong in a lot of ways. Maybe you should be pumping gas. The scenario you give regarding the major labels vs. musicians is correct. This is why many acts now have their own labels, make their own product, etc. In THAT scenario, which is becoming more common, the artist stands to be the primary income receiver, hence they become the primary loser in piracy. No, "the average citizen give's a rat's ass that some multi-billion $$$ profit generating Fortune 500 company, didn't meet their profit expectations from the last year." Overcharging for software, doctor visit's, etc. happens because of deadbeats that don't pay anything at all (i.e. software, music thieves, etc.) and those losses have to be made up, or the company ceases to exist, and you don't have your precious software to steal. When my wife had a $30,000 hospital stay, we informed them we were uninsured and would be self-pay. We received an 89% discount, making it affordable. So, we were relieved from the responsibility of making up for the slugs that just vanish. I understand where you're coming from, but... you need to do some reevaluating. Edit: I see you are a photographer. How much photo software have you purchased, and how much have you stolen? Mind if I and a few of my friends steal some of your images for use? It's just because we like them, and besides, you're just a money whore. You don't need or want what you should have for your creative work.

I thought this was gonna be about Young Frankenstein.

Ok, deep breath time... everybody... ok, now... I think I understand some of the concerns here, and I imagine some understand mine. At its' simplest level, info = free, intellectual property = protected and paid. The concern is that general info will get swept into this, and censored, am I correct? I really don't think there's any danger of a library being closed, etc. Any copyrighted material has always had to be referenced in print when used; if you Xerox something for your personal info, there's no problem. If you use that in a publicly obtainable way, you'd better reference the source. You can cook corn liquor for yourself, but you'd better not try to sell it. Everyone I know in the music community is in full support of this; we are tired of being ripped off. We are at the point where we will accept ANYthing that'll put a lock on our property. Now, if this does indeed restrict free access of information, then it needs to be rethought and reworded. If it does NOT, however, and we are experiencing a "Chicken Little" effect, then I see no reason to NOT support it.
