  1. People are dumb for letting such a stupid policy be on the books.  I would be complaining and if necessary getting suitable candidates to run for this school board if that policy was not changed over a knife.
  2. Could you guys not get the whole silly 'intent to go armed' with a switchblade knife felony charge removed for carrying a switchblade at a school?  The post about the boy in east TN getting a weapons charge over a knife shows how stupid this law is.
  3. Typical school stupidity.  I wonder how I and many other guys went through high school with evil knives in our vehicles and in our pockets.   I'm surprised the schools today even let kids have a pencil and pen, since those are pointed objects!
  4. There are already a lot of people carrying without a handgun carry permit in public.  You have some that are flat out criminals up to no good and some who don't have the time or money to get a handgun carry permit.  Then you probably have even more that have loaded firearms in vehicles without permits that otherwise are not criminals.
  5. Are there any updates on the park carry bill?  I know it passed the state senate and has been transferred to the house.  Anything else?  Will there be a floor vote on this bill in the house?
  6. I don't think this bill fixed situations where someone with a handgun carry permit is riding in a friend's car as a passenger.  The car must be in the carry permit person's possession from my reading.  I would assume the person with the handgun carry permit must either own the car or be driving the car.
  7. That is a big deal for people in the LA and Bay areas because it is very difficult in those counties to get licenses.
  8. We need to make sure that the House does not add any more restrictions to this bill.
  9. Yes, I can see how requiring permits can be a way to prevent crime because only eligible people are issued permits.  I don't see how the state preventing those with permits from carrying in schools or places where there are certain signs prevents crime.   I would not carry openly in this state because of the goofy school event law that even applies to people with permits.  How are we to know where there is a school event in public?  At least if there is a school event and your handgun is concealed, you probably would avoid problems.   You have to understand that most politicians do not want people carrying guns, but they want to be endorsed by the NRA at the same time.  Go to the statehouse in Nashville and you will see how there is dislike for guns when you can't carry in the statehouse.  If there were not any 'no guns' signs at the statehouse, you could legally carry inside with a permit.  That shows how much distrust there is.
  10. I thought the House was going to amend the bill further and try to add that people with permits cannot carry in a playground area?
  11. We can't have this bill worse than it already is.  It is already bad enough that if someone has a permit and is UNKNOWINGLY carries where there is a school event going on, that is a possible felony charge.  I guess that makes politicians feel better that someone with a permit can be charged with a felony when a school group show up.
  12. The news media makes more of a fuss out of people with permits carrying in parks than the gang bangers roaming the parks with stolen pistols.  I can guarantee you there are plenty of gang bangers carrying in the Memphis parks right now.
  13. We need to focus on this heavily because the penalty for someone, even with a handgun carry permit, is a Class A Misdemeanor.  There is no logical reason that someone with a handgun carry permit should have to worry about a high level misdemeanor when carrying a handgun for protection.
