  1. I decided to order some from letargets.com. Really nice people on the phone. Ordered 100 and with shipping they came out to about .80/each. Good enough for me. Thanks for the help guys.
  2. Seems like shipping prices even for a small order are sky high. I was wondering if any shop in the south of Nashville area stocked the cardboard targets. I just want some for practice here at the house. Thanks!
  3. Cannot thank you enough! Really nice of you to check for a new guy. I owe you my friend. I'll check out what some of the loads look like with red dot - haven't tried that one before. Does it meter well on a progressive? I'm not opposed to buying a few pounds and trading for Titegroup if you want to get rid of some. I will shoot you a PM if I get up that way in the next day or so.
  4. Ok thanks for the heads up! I'm looking for any common powder for .45 Auto. W231/HP-38, bullseye, Titegroup, Accurate #5, even Titewad or clays. Anything good for some lightweight target loads.
  5. Plinking .22 ammo for the neighbor, and for me, some (what used to be) common pistol powder for .45 Auto. W231/HP-38, Bullseye, Accurate #5, Titegroup, would even try some Titewad or Clays if I could find it. Really appreciate the offer to check, but don't make a trip just on my account! Buy something for yourself while you're in there...haha!
  6. Has anyone been back to the outpost in a day or two? Neighbor is wanting some plinking .22 and I'm trying to find some pistol powder. Hour and 45 minute drive for me, and my success rate on getting someone helpful on the phone up there is pretty low. Thanks!
  7. RK Show in Parsons Feb 15-16. Just wondering if it would be worth the 35 minute drive and price of admission for me, or if it will be as exciting as the town of Parsons itself. I'm sure it will be small but hate to pass it up since it's the closest show to me. Has anyone been in years past?
  8. There may be more to the latter part of this statement than I give credit. Certainly after sandy hook there was a run on .22 cal firearms and ammo because everyone had to have a gun...any gun...and the .22 was the most economical choice. But the .22 AR platforms may be more of a factor than some (including me) think. Maybe that is the gun that has made shooting .22 fun again and more popular. But I do remember after sandy hook the only AR style rifle you could find was the .22LR configurations, so at least then people definitely weren't rushing out to buy them. I don't know, it's an aggravating situation but it's fun to discuss.
  9. I would think that ammo manufacturers would have to see several years of this demand before they started pumping millions into additional equipment, facilities, and employees. They are probably still looking at this as a temporary problem. Once people stop acting crazy and let the supply build up again there won't be a need for the extra investment. Eventually people are going to get tired of standing in line at walmart at 6:45 am just to get 300 rounds (like my neighbor did is morning).
  10.   Fair enough.  A lot of people share your opinion.  I'm not going to get into a shouting match over whether a HCP takes away from or extends the rights guaranteed by the 2nd Amendment.  But most people that love to argue "constitutional carry" want to say that all "law abiding" citizens should be able to carry on their person at all times.  What defines "law abiding"?  If I just got out of the joint after doing a dime for aggravated burglary, am I "law abiding" after I paid my debt to society or until I get arrested again?  The HCP system is in place to make sure the people that do carry are "law abiding" and imposes stiff penalties for those that aren't.  It also makes an LEO's job more efficient and comfortable when at the scene of a shooting or dealing with a firearm in a traffic stop.   My point to the OP is, with the current laws that are in place (and aren't likely to change anytime soon), it's best advised to go through the motions and get a HCP, regardless of what you think the 2nd Amendment guarantees.
  11. Take the time to get a HCP. It's not worth the trouble you'll have if you have a car accident, go through a road block and have your piece exposed, etc. My ornery old neighbor is one that carries a gun all the time spouting off that the 2nd Amendment is his carry permit. I just change the subject every time he starts that garbage. Try that defense in court and see how far you get. There are a lot of things wrong with our gun laws but requiring a HCP isn't one of them.
  12. Hello all! I found this site while doing a search for reloading supplies in the Nashville area. Looks like a great place! I spend most of my time on 1911forum but look forward to getting to know some folks from the Volunteer State. So a little about me: live in hard-to-find (and pronounce) Hohenwald with my wife and little girl on the way, big NRA and 2nd Amendment supporter. Briefly associated with the TFA a few years back. I enjoy studying the history and the court decisions that are shaping where we are today. 1911 buff and love wing shooting. In the process of building a nice outdoor range at my house and am getting into reloading at possibly the worst time in history! Have always wanted to meet up with some other shooters in the area and possibly get into IDPA but my location seems to put me a good drive away from most of the action. Maybe that will change. Look forward to chatting with you all!
