My first stop for any gun related videos is Full30.com. I only use YouTube when I have to. I switched when they did all their saber rattling a year or so ago. Unfortunately Full30 still has some limitations to get worked out like total video length but I felt it should be supported for giving us an alternative.

Yea my Dad managed to bring back a silver plated Luger (with holster), two Mauser 98s, a bunch of misc bayonets and some Nazi flags and such. Unfortunately he sold the Luger (probably needed the cash for the family), the flags and such disappeared over the years not sure where, the bayonets were not stored very well and I sold them when we were cleaning his shop out. I had the two Mausers but one he had tried to sporterize and never finished and was a real Frankenstein. The other Mauser had all matching numbers but was very worn. I ended up trading the two Mausers and a couple of other long guns he had that needed repairs for a new over and under 12g. I hadn't seen the Mausers for many decades and in my head I remembered two M1s so I was a bit disappointed (those I would have kept), but I do like my O/U. I know where the Luger is and the owner says it is not for sale, probably would not pay what it is worth anyway, he is pushing 90 so I may try again.

We, like ReeferMac, escaped Western NY 3 years ago. Much like where you are, that area is very conservative, I would say as much as East TN is but NYC has taken over control of the whole state. I fought and marched on Albany and donated money for many years and we decided we were to old to waste our remaining years on a state that we couldn't stand anymore. As ReeferMac's family, we should have done it a lot sooner. Life is good in TN.

Just realized this is the 1 year anniversary of this thread. Was hoping for more participation with old photos but I still have a bunch more if you're not bored yet. If you have some you have collected please join in and post them. To more high caliber photos. Any captions for this one?

I truly miss real local banks. When I was getting towards the end of college my Dad decided I should get a better car because it was likely I would be moving out of state and what I was driving might not make it. He was making the loan to me but had to borrow part of the money to do it. We were walking up town and he saw the bank president across the street, he yelled across the street addressing the pres by his first name and said Jim and I are going car shopping will you cover my check when it clears. Pres says how much my Dad's says around $2000, he said no problem and the loan was made. I'm sure more happened later but not a problem and nothing needed to be done ahead of time. Same car but a year later I'm at my new job and broke, but Winter was coming so I borrowed $100 from the local bank for a month or so till I got caught up with moving expenses. About 2 years go by and I go to the same bank to apply for a mortgage for my first house, I talked to the president of that bank and he said he would drive by the house to see if he thought it was worth what I wanted for a mortgage and I should come back the next week. Came back and he said he didn't get a chance to check it out and asked who the realtor was, I told him and he said good guy he wouldn't cheat you. Then asked if I had ever borrowed money before, I said yes $100 from them. He said did you pay it back and I said yes and I was approved. Ah the simpler times.

Alway thought it would be fun to own one of these. I got to ride in one a couple of time at a Christmas tree farm. They would take you out to the back 40 and drop you off to cut your tree down, then haul it back on a sled behind the Weasel while you road. M-29 Weasel in Belgium in 1944

Welcome. Moving sooner is always cheaper. We moved 3 years ago and saw a few examples of what we could have bought 10 years before, when we could have moved, and well hind site. Even the place we ended up with I could have bought from the original owner instead of the second owner in that time frame.

Welcome to TGO and soon NE TN, hope to meet you someday. I'll tell you what the fellow behind the counter in the first gun store I stopped in when we were down looking for a house and I told him where we were moving from. "Welcome to America"
