Good friend of my son uses the rolling Travel Golf bag. Worked good when he lived in an apartment going to and from his truck. Held several long guns and a bunch of handguns and ammo. The neighbor just thought he liked to golf.

Thanks for the maps. I guess there are so few sightings because they are shy and avoid contact. Sent the picture to a local naturalist and she hadn't seen any in the area but did recently see several timber rattlers in the area.

Not trying to attract wildlife, we keep garbage in the garage, gave up feeding birds when we moved to bear country (I can handle a squirrel in my feeder but not a bear). The raccoons were coming nightly and digging all the new plantings we had put out. We tried grub killer because we were told that was what they were after, didn't work, we tried the repellent powder, it helped a little but not enough, tried a different type of repellent, didn't work. Was told by another "expert" only way was to trap them, we did and it worked for a possum and the first raccoon. Not sure if the 2 apple cores and half a banana was enough to attract the second bear, but I have put the trap away for now so they don't get use to checking us out for a snack (Bear didn't get food in trap and didn't damage the trap just knocked it over and triggered the trap's door). Last night's trail cam shots were two raccoons smelling around but they did not dig, The first coon had met its demise where they were smelling so maybe I didn't flush enough water in the gravel to get rid of the blood. Maybe that is why they left. We enjoy seeing the animals but don't try to lure them in for photos. We were told that a few years ago some people further up in the mountains, close by here, had a bird feeder hanging in the middle of a wire about 10 feet in the air strung between their cabin and a tree. One day they counted 5 bears sitting in the yard under the feeder trying to figure out how to get to it.

Bigger bear visited the side of the house last night about 9pm. Had the coon trap set again for a second coon, I don't know if 2 apple cores and a half a banana attracted him or not but he knocked it over. I decided to give up racoon trapping for now.

Yesterday on the trail cam I have setup to keep track of the racoon activity in the flower bed I got this photo. I thought it was a bobcat and have been told that is what it is, I didn't know we had them in East TN. Looks a little hungry.

I still have my NY carry permit, technically not valid anymore since I have moved to TN. I came from a gun friendly county. I belonged to an organization call SCOPE that was fighting the gun laws. The judge that issued all the permits in that county and the Sheriff were members and regularly came to the meetings. At the last meeting before I moved I talked to the judge to see if I could turn my permit into a non-resident permit. He carefully didn't answer my question because by the way the state law is written the answer would have been NO. He instead told me under what circumstance he could legally approve an out of state permit. I would have to have an address in NY that would forward any mail I get and state that I will be visiting that address on a regular bases. Regular was not defined. I have friends that I could use to forward mail, but still have not decided if I will. Starting in 2017 if they get all their expensive database in order they will require re-licensing every 5 years. I don't want to go to all the bother if they will just take it away from me next year when the state controls licensing instead of the county. We don't plan many trips back so..... I would guess Broome county will get shut down quickly once the state mafia here about what they are doing. Jim...

Had a similar problem a few years ago with a cardinal trying to scare off what he thought was competition but was his reflection. I got some glass wax and smeared it on the outside of the glass, problem solved. Waited a few weeks and cleaned the window.

I have a couple of friends that had a coating put on that I would call terrazzo but that may not be the right name they put down a fairly thick coating of epoxy like material then sprinkle flakes of some kind on to give it a color and a pattern then after it drys they put a top coat. Seems to be very durable and easy to clean. Looks like an expensive kitchen floor when it is done. Makes a shop look very nice. One did on a new floor the other on an old floor after cleaning and patching. Not cheap.

Don't think my wife will be doing any shooing of bears. She said she will be looking around more when she is out working in the flower beds. She had been working right below where the bear jumped off the deck the day before.

Just a flower bed on that end of the house. Garbage is stored inside in the basement on the other end of the house, till I haul it to the drop off station. A friend that saw the pictures things it is a yearling just turned loose to figure out where to find food and was doing a walkabout. We will certainly keep an eye out but most of the neighbors say that bears in general aren't a problem in this area as long as you don't leave anything out for them to eat. According to the neighbors they see them a few times a year.

We have lived next to the Cherokee National Park Bear reserve for 11 months now and just saw our first bear today, just before lunch. It apparently was checking out the flower bed on the end of the house, when my wife came home and spooked it. I was sitting in the living room and heard the driveway alarm but before my wife could get the rest of the way up the drive I heard something big coming on the front deck. I look up to see a black blur go buy the front windows. I look out the bedroom window to see a bear sitting on the far end of the porch. I go out the back door and told my wife to stay in the car and went back in and grabbed my camera to take some shots out the window. About that time I heard it go over the porch railing and down probably 12-14 feet. I went out on the deck and got a couple of pictures. Then remembered I had moved the trail cam to the side of the house the day before because something was digging in the flower bed (turned out to be a raccoon). So I pulled the card and this was one of the better pictures I got. Not a huge bear, probably around 100lbs.

I know it shouldn't be needed but it would be nice if TN managed to do the same thing. Ohio gun owners with a carry permit can skip NICS check. I'll take a 20oz of whatever style you decide on. I actually like the looks of the RTIC better.

I would never use WD-40 on any part of a gun, it is not a cleaner solvent and can gum things up worse over time. There are very good clear solvents made for gun use if you think the problem is a gummed up mechanism.

Model 67 was my first real gun after BB and Pellet, my Dad gave it to me, not sure if it was just one of his extra guns or he bought it specifically to give to me. Was used and worked well, shot a lot of rats at the dump with it. Still have it in the safe. I hadn't shoot it for years and dug it out about 4 years ago. The firing pin/spring assembly was gummed up but a little cleaning and I had it` shooting again, brought back lots of memories. Cleaned and put it back in the safe again till next time.

Welcome, you picked a great part of the state to settle. We picked this area after looking around the Eastern side of the state on a couple of vacation trips. We moved from Western NY last June for exactly the same reasons you are moving. My only regret is I didn't do it years ago. We had so many people asks us why that we finally shortened the reply to "Less: Winter, Taxes, Government" We started looking in the Bristol/Kingsport area but by the time we found what we wanted we were South of Jonesborough about 10 miles. A place to shoot on our own land was high on my list of wants and ended up with a place that I can shoot off  my back deck. I had a great realtor in Kingsport if you need a referral. He spent many days over two trips driving us all over the area. By the second or third day he knew what we wanted better than we knew ourself. He went out of his way to show us where things were we might need after we moved. When I found this place online he drove out to look at it and take additional pictures of things he thought were important to us and told us this was the one and not to take to long planning our next trip.

Shooting on my own property was near the top of our list of wants when we were looking for our current place. Shooting off my back deck is very nice indeed. I can only get out to about 25 yards this time of year because of undergrowth I can't really remove. 40-50 yards is possible during the Winter. Now I'm thinking of where I can set up to shoot clays  :D

Welcome, I have my own mountain place NE of you. I only have 7.5 acres but back up against the National Forest that gives me some breathing space.

I have only had two brands of 9mm cause failures, neither were from a weak charge.   TulAmmo MaxX, which is about as cheap as you can get, I had 5 failure to chamber in my Glock 19 out of 200 rounds.   Blazer Brass, I actually had two boxes from two different lots that had weak crimps on the bullets, CCI checked them and replaced them. The failure was in my LCR 9mm, after 3 or 4 shots the remaining bullet(s) actually fell out of the casing and jammed the cylinder (not a problem in a semi).   Both gun have had at least 10 different brands/loads used without any other failures. About 2000 rounds through the G19 and around 300 through the LCR including the replacement Blazer Brass.

The only ammo I have problems with in my SR22 is Federal American Eagle, the casing sticks in the barrel. Others had no problem so the tolerances on mine must be a little tight.
