  1. Like you we moved down from the North country and CoyDogs were a big problem in the area we came from. They were all shapes and sizes, including 100lb cross with shepherds. I saw one that sounds like yours cross the road in front off me about 1/2 mile from our old house and could not believe how long and tall it was, easily 100lbs.

  5. We live on a 1/2 mile long dead end road with 8 or so houses. Our place has a hill/mountain behind us and a safe place to shoot so I setup a small range that I can shoot off my back deck out to 30 yards and if I set my shooting stand down the back drive I can get 50 yards. I try to limit the really loud stuff to only once in awhile and only a few shots but often when friends are out to shoot we will do several hundred rounds in an hour, mostly handguns (all calibers up to .44mag) and .22 rifles. I have asked a few neighbors if it bothers them and they said they haven't noticed. I know that at least 4 of us on the road have small ranges setup and another is planning one. Everyone on the road owns guns. When one of the democratic candidates may some comment about hearing gun shots from his house and that was a problem, I told my wife we hear gun shots often and it makes me feel safe. Just be sure you are outside of town and have enough land to setup a safe place and don't be too annoying to your neighbors. I have invited several neighbors to come up and shoot if they hear me out or just stop over, it doesn't take much to get me to go out and shoot. So far only two have taken me up on it.

  7. I love my Marlin Model 1894 Lever Action .357 Magnum made in 1981. I bought it from a fellow TGO member a few years ago. I usually shoot .38s in it because I'm cheap but leave it loaded in the safe with .357 just in case I need the fire power at the spur of the moment for bear control. Keep talking myself out of a 30-30 version but not sure how much longer I will win that argument.

    New home!!

Glad you're settled. We have lived 15-30 minutes from a real store for years and you get use to it. We do have a convenience/gas station about 2 miles away for quick small purchases which is handy. Amazon does a lot of sales too. When you are going to wait a day or so anyway to run into town you might as well have it delivered to the door. We do love the quiet, really a problem when we visit my Mother (there now) she lives 20' from a truck route in town on the corner were they have to stop and turn. Neighbor a block away is doing his extended fireworks display again tonight.
  16. Looks like a good one for a caption.
